Chapter 8- Spying On Me
AVA ~~
A naked back. Broad shoulders. And… a perfectly bare butt. Smooth. Strong. Shining slightly under the light like something carved out of polished marble.
I blinked. Then blinked again.
Was I dreaming? Was I dead? What in the world was I looking at?
"Oooh… shit," I gasped out loud before I could stop myself. My hand flew to my mouth too late.
He turned around sharply.
I didn't even get the chance to see his full face before his voice hit me.
"Answer me!!" he barked. The sound of it made my knees wobble.
I gasped, bowed my head instantly and started shaking.
"No—no, sir, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to come in here," I stammered, my words tumbling over each other in fear. "I wasn't the one who always comes in to watch you. I just arrived today, I swear. I've never even been to this side of the pack before now."
I kept my eyes on the floor, afraid to look at him again. My heart was pounding in my chest so hard I thought it would explode.
"And I'm supposed to believe that?" he asked, his voice low and deadly.
His tone wasn't just angry—it was dangerous. If voices could kill, I'd already be dead ten times over.
I swallowed hard. My whole body was shaking. My legs felt weak, like I could fall at any second.
"I swear on my life, sir," I whispered quickly. "This is my first time here. If you want, I can call the guards who brought me here. They'll tell you. Please, let them explain. They can confirm I just got here today."
I was babbling now—panicked, desperate, scared out of my mind.
My palms were sweaty. My throat was dry. The back of my neck was already soaked with sweat.
"Just started, Ava. You just started this job, and look at you." I screamed silently in my head. "Already in trouble with the Alpha—or whoever this man is. What is wrong with you?"
I didn't even know who he was. The Alpha? His friend ? A warrior? He was obviously important—and dangerous. He had power in his presence. And I was just a stupid girl who didn't knock.
"So you think dragging some guard over here will magically convince me?" he said sharply
"Y-yes, sir," I whispered. "I just want you to know I'm telling the truth. Please… the guards wouldn't lie. You'll see. I can go bring them here now."
I was trying not to cry, but the sting was already there. My eyes were burning, and my throat felt tight. I had barely gotten here, and the whole world already felt like it was crashing down on me.
Why is my life like this? Why is everything always against me?
If only I had knocked. Just one knock. One small knock. I wouldn't be in this mess.
He went quiet for a moment, and I didn't dare move or breathe.
Then he spoke again, and this time his tone had changed—still cold, but more controlled.
"Fine. Since you're so sure of yourself…" he said. "Go. Go outside and find the guards that brought you here today."
I looked up a little, hope flashing across my face. My breath caught in my throat.
"Thank you, sir. Thank you so much! I'll go right now and bring them here to explain. I promise—"
"I don't care about what you are saying," he cut in sharply, his eyes burning into mine. "You said you came with guards? Bring them. You have five minutes. No more."
I froze. My heart skipped.
"Y-yes, sir," I stammered again, bowing quickly, backing away.
"Your time starts now."
I didn't wait another breath. I ran—like my life depended on it. And maybe it did.
My shoe hit the cold floor as I sped out of the room. I didn't even glance back. I just needed to find the guards. I had to prove myself. I had to prove I wasn't some pervert who came to spy on the Alpha while he was naked.
But the second I stepped out of the hallway, my feet slowed.
Oh no.
That was when it hit me. I didn't even know where to start. I was new here. I didn't know this place. I didn't know anything. Not where the guards stayed. Not who to ask. Nothing.
I stopped in my tracks and looked around. The halls were long and stretched like they would never end. Doors everywhere. Windows I couldn't see through. People walking past with cold, distant faces. No one looked at me. No one smiled.
"Where am I supposed to start?" I whispered, gripping my head in frustration.
My hands were sweating. My heart wouldn't slow down. My brain was racing in circles.
I didn't know where the guards' chamber was. I didn't even know their names. I had no idea how to find them. And what if I did find one, and he refused to come? What then?
Would the Alpha punish me? Beat me? Kill me?
My knees shook. I bit my lip.
I pressed my hand to my face and let out a tired sigh.
"Why is my life always like this?"
I hadn't even been in this pack for twenty minutes, and I was already deep in trouble.
"Don't panic," I told myself, trying to breathe. "You can do this. You can find someone. Just breathe."
But it wasn't helping. My chest felt tight. My vision was getting blurry with tears.
I started walking faster—checking every hallway, peeking through open doors—but I didn't dare go too deep. I was scared of getting lost. Everything looked the same. I felt like a mouse trapped in a giant maze.
A few people passed me, but the cold looks on their faces made my heart freeze. Their expressions said it all.
I knew if I opened my mouth, they'd either ignore me or say something cruel.
"Oh Moon Goddess…" I whispered. "It's been five minutes, hasn't it?"
Panic exploded inside me. I clutched my chest.
"It's too early to die. Please, please, please…" I cried under my breath as I turned and ran straight back toward the Alpha's room.
I didn't knock.
I didn't stop.
I pushed the door open and stepped inside again—breathless, shaking, and scared out of my mind.
And then…
I froze.
He was still fucking naked.
Facing me directly.
My eyes—oh no—my eyes didn't listen to my brain. They dropped before I could stop them.
That vein.
That size.
Those abs.
His torso looked like it was carved out of stone. Solid ridges. Tight skin. His abs had clear lines that went all the way down to the V of his hips—and gods, that V could send someone into cardiac arrest.
He wasn't just fit. He was dangerously hot.
And I—stupidly—stood there like a statue.
Until he spoke.
"You could stop drooling and get your eyes off my dick."
My breath caught.
Shit.
I snapped my head away so fast I almost hurt my neck.
"I—I'm so sorry, sir!" I stammered, my cheeks burning. "I wasn't trying to look! I didn't expect you to still be naked. I was caught off guard—"
"And if you hadn't opened my door without knocking again, would you have seen me naked?" he snapped, his voice sharp.
I shook my head quickly, too scared to speak again.
"Good."
He took a step closer, his presence wrapping around me
"You didn't knock the first time." His voice was low, serious. "Now you've come back again, and once again—no knock. And you expect me to believe you're not the one who's been spying on me?"
