Clanborn
'Is she a fool? I have the same features as a human, why would she ask if I was one?'
'And I am the one who is asking what the hell I have done? It's her who stabbed me! That bitch!'
"Yeah, of course I am a human!"
He took a few steps back and lowered the dagger.
"Sorry, I thought you were a Hollow or something."
She sheathed her sword.
'Well at least I won't die today.'
"You thought I was a Hollow? You attacked me and stabbed me before we even met! How did you make that mistake?!"
She stared at him with an indifferent look.
"Well, you are covered in grey ash, and you are wearing a armour similar to other creatures we have seen"
'OH'
Kale looked down, he was covered in the ash and blood of the hollows.
'Well, that explains why she attacked me, but not the why she was blushing!'
"Okay, that does make sense. Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude."
Kale looked up at the girl. Her face was expressionless, but her cheeks were slightly red.
'Wait... does she like me? No, we just met! Stop being foolish!'
The girl looked at him and said:
"By the way, thank you for saving me. And... eh... sorry for stabbing you."
She seemed embarrassed by the situation.
"It's not a big deal" Kale said.
'Oh shit, why did I say that?'
Now he seemed like a guy pretending to be a hotshot.
'Wait, why would she care?'
He looked up at her.
"By the way, what is your name? Mine is Kale."
"I'm Evangeline of the Blood Swan clan."
She looked at him. He was quite tall, and he seemed to have quite a thin body under the suit of armour. The armour didn't seem to fit either. She had seen him running at her with the sword as well, so it seemed like he could take care of himself at least.
"Kale, you are quite skilled. I mean, you saved me, and you managed to slay a Hollow all by yourself."
Kale's gaze locked into her eyes, and a smirk twisted his lips, then he said:
"Oh, that Hollow? It was nothing, it couldn't even have scratched me. Before i met you i had just killed a Ghoul and took its armour as my own."
Evangeline stared at Kale with a dumbfounded expression
'Ha! seems I wasn't the only one who was dumbfounded!'
Kale's smirk widened
"He wasn't really a big deal, I just stabbed him through the head, and he died just like that"
He snapped his fingers, then a shiver ran down his spine
'Wait, did i just lie about the Knight of Ariel?'
'No, I just left out bits of the truth, it's not the same thing!'
Evangeline had a slight frown on her face, as if she was trying to comprehend what he had just said.
After a few moments of silence, she looked him up and down before fixing her gaze back to his eyes, and saying:
"You? You're telling me that you killed a Ghoul all alone?"
Kale nodded
"That's not possible! Even Guardians wouldn't be able to take down a Ghoul alone, much less a branded teenager!"
"But I did! It's true!" Kale said
"I don't believe you." Evangeline answered
'This bitch is calling me a liar, after stabbing me, and getting saved by me?'
"Fine, if you don't want to believe me, then don't!"
Evangeline sighed.
"Okay, where is the body? Care to show us?"
Kale answered almost immediately
"Yes! I'll take you there and then you can see what I am capable off!"
Silence filled the air, as they both stood there.
"Before anything else Kale, you should meet our group so that we can introduce ourselves" Evangeline said.
"Yeah, good idea." Kale said
"Great! Follow me" Evangeline answered
And so, Kale followed her back to the group of three people
"Guys! This is Kale, and he says that he has taken down a Ghoul!"
"What!? What the hell do you mean by took down a Ghoul!?"
'That voice came from the archer!'
Kale turned his head, and saw the archer walk towards him, and the axeman following.
'Shit! Maybe I shouldn't have boasted about my kill...'
"Hello! My name is Kale, and it's nice to meet you!"
"Shut the hell up, you damned brat! Tell me what the fuck you mean by taking down a Ghoul?!" The archer said
'Who the fuck does she think she is?!' Kale thought
"I was talking about a Ghoul that I killed" Kale said
"And how the hell did you manage to do that? Did your daddy protect you while killing the beast? Or maybe your mommy held its hands, so that it wouldn't kill you?"
"What did you just say?!" Kale asked, as he threw her a hateful look.
"That was not what happened at all! I just killed the creature myself, that is all."
"You? By yourself? Ha! You are nothing more than a damned weakling!"
"What the fuck did you just say?! I killed the knight of Ariel!" Kale said, almost screaming
"Knight of Ariel, who is that?" The archer asked with her brows furrowed
Kale took a moment to calm down and said:
"It was the name of the Ghoul I killed"
"After I killed it, I heard the Testament say it"
"What did the Testament say, and when?" Evangeline asked, her face a bit pale
"Well, the testament said: 'you have killed a Ghoul of the 13th Domain: Knight of Ariel'. When it spoke to me, it was just a few seconds after the kill"
"And that's why my armour doesn't fit, because it belonged to the Knight and not me"
The archer stared at Kale with a shocked look
"I didn't expect a weakling like you to have taken down a Ghoul..."
Kale looked away and let out a sigh.
"So, what are your names?"
"The names Alvara" the archer said
"My name is Darius, nice to meet you" the axeman said
"My name is Kale, but i guess you already know that"
"So, what about that shield guy, who is he?" Kale said
"Oh, don't worry about him. His name is Lucius and he's just a little tired" Darius said
Kale looked at Lucius, he was a bit taller than him and had short black hair.
"So, shall we go find the corpse of the knight?" Kale said
"Sure, just lead the way" Evangeline said
"Okay, let's go!" Kale answered
As they walked, Darius asked a question:
"So, do you have any fighting experience? And where are you from?"
"Yeah, a little bit. I have been in a few scuffles in the streets, but nothing much."
"I am from the sanctuary of Mercy in Virelia, but I have only lived there for a year"
"What about you guys, which sanctuary are you from?"
Darius was silent for a moment before getting ready to answer, but then Evangeline interrupted him and said:
"None of us are from the sanctuaries, we are all four from different clans, I am from the Blood Swan clan. While Darius and Lucius are from the Riven clan. And Alvara is from the Primordial Night clan, so none of us are from the sanctuaries."
Kale paled for a moment.
'They are of the clans!? That makes them Clanborn…'
'They are nurtured for the Crucible since they first learned how to walk! And then there is me, a pathetic looking nobody from the sanctuary of Mercy, and I claimed to have easily killed a Ghoul!'
'They could probably slaughter me in a moment...'
Kale felt a cold shiver run down his spine
