Chapter 41 - Farewell, Erha.

"My Insight Eye might be different from yours," said Jia Chengyi, covering one of his eyes. "Through the accumulation of knowledge, observation of details, basic data on beast mastery, and various subtle clues, I can detect anomalies."

"At the same time, I can amplify these anomalies and convert them into data for my analysis, almost like an in-game interface."

"Since I've grown stronger, the success rate of my Insight Eye has increased from 10% to 90%."

"Now, whenever I use it, I rarely fail."

"But oddly enough, when I used my 90%-success-rate Insight Eye on your second innate skill, it failed."

Li Miao widened her eyes in surprise.

Convert into data?!

How was this ability the same as hers?!

Could it be that the [Datafication] passive was a skill all those who awakened the Insight Eye possessed?

She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

She had thought her eyes were unparalleled in the world, but...

Oh well.

It's always wise to have self-awareness.

At this thought, Li Miao hurriedly suppressed her earlier arrogance, metaphorically tucking her proverbial tail between her legs.

"Professor, you said you couldn't see my second skill?"

"That's right."

Li Miao hesitated for a few seconds. "Maybe it's just that my innate skill is a bit special? It's somewhat similar to a game's—"

"There's no need to tell me."

Jia Chengyi raised his hand to stop her. "An innate skill that even I can't decipher is likely extremely powerful. Until you grow stronger, I'd advise you not to disclose it carelessly to others."

Li Miao blinked. "Professor..."

"But you can talk freely about your Insight Eye."

Jia Chengyi smiled. "At this stage, there are others who possess the same innate skill as you, but most aren't as exceptional—especially with the [Datafication] passive your skill comes with."

"Your eyes are different from mine and from those of other beast masters."

That sentence kept Li Miao up all night.

She even asked Jia Chengyi in detail where exactly she differed, but he didn't elaborate, telling her to experience it for herself.

It was only later that Li Miao learned Jia Chengyi's Insight Eye didn't actually possess the [Datafication] ability.

What he referred to as data conversion was achieved through a pair of glasses he had developed, replicating an effect similar to Li Miao's [Datafication].

Thus, her eyes truly were different from others.

At this realization, Li Miao once again felt her pride swelling.

No, no, no, no.

She couldn't let herself get carried away. If she kept inflating like this, it would only be a matter of time before trouble came knocking.

With that thought, she quickly calmed down.

Tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep, she eventually sat by the bay window, draping her coat over herself.

Erha had woken up as well.

It yawned, lazily hopping off the bed, stretching leisurely before jumping up beside Li Miao.

"Awoo~"

Sleep!

Li Miao looked down at Erha.

"You go ahead. I can't sleep."

Erha tilted its head. "Awoo?"

Can't sleep? Why?

"No reason, I just can't sleep."

Erha smacked its lips. "Awoo~"

Fine, then make sure you rest soon. I'm going back to sleep.

"Okay."

Erha curled up beside Li Miao and quickly nodded off.

Feeling the warmth radiating from its fur, Li Miao reached out and gently stroked Erha's back.

Had the time come to upgrade Erha's quality?

She thought about the materials she'd saved up.

Clearly, the ones she'd bought weren't enough for Erha's evolution.

Under these circumstances, there was only one solution.

Gazing at the peacefully sleeping Erha, Li Miao made her decision—

The next day, she ambushed Jia Yunwan as soon as she stepped out of her room. "Professor~"

"When are we going for the awakening?"

Startled, Jia Yunwan froze for a second before chuckling. "What's the rush? There are still over two weeks left!"

"But I can't wait any longer... Ow!"

Rubbing her head, Li Miao whined, "Why'd you hit me?"

"My dad praised you for your patience and maturity, but I think you were just acting, weren't you?"

Scratching her head, Li Miao weakly defended herself, "I wasn't..."

"Still... are you really planning to take it to the awakening just like this?"

Jia Yunwan tilted her chin toward Erha, who was diligently brushing its own teeth by the sink.

"Even if its base stats are excellent, if its temperament isn't developed enough, the awakening could still fail. Are you sure?"

Li Miao countered, "Would failing the awakening affect Erha?"

"Not much. At most, it might lose a couple of base stat points."

Dang.

For others, losing even a point or two might take ages to recover, but she didn't have that problem!

She could just reallocate points.

So this so-called "setback" was practically negligible for her and Erha!

Without hesitation, Li Miao nodded vigorously. "I'm sure!"

"Let's go now! Immediately!"

"Alright."

Jia Yunwan tossed her phone backward, where a shadowy figure caught it and gently placed it on the bed.

"Wait for me, then."

This "wait" turned into two hours.

Li Miao and Erha had already finished breakfast and were buzzing with anticipation when Jia Yunwan finally emerged—wearing a biker-style outfit consisting of ultra-short leather pants, tall boots, a cropped top, and a loose silver-gray jacket.

Dangling the keys, she arched a brow at Li Miao. "Can you ride, kiddo?"

Glancing at the two sets of keys in Jia Yunwan's hand, Li Miao mirrored her expression. "Care to guess?"

"I'll bet you can."

Jia Yunwan tossed one of the keys to Li Miao.

Half an hour later, in the underground garage, Li Miao fell silent at the sight of rows of sleek, brand-new motorcycles.

Erha shot her a skeptical glance.

"Awoo?"

Can you even ride?

Li Miao smirked. "What do you think?"

"Awoo awoo awoo!"

I think you can't! Stupid beast master, no way am I riding with you!

Li Miao laughed in frustration. "If you don't ride with me, are you planning to ride with Professor Jia instead? Are you sure you can handle her speed?"

Remembering the breakneck pace of Jia Yunwan's off-road driving, Erha hesitated for a moment before reluctantly gritting its teeth.

"Awoo awoo!"

Riding with her is still better than you crashing us!

Li Miao: "..."

Once Erha actually boarded Jia Yunwan's bike, Li Miao's face went utterly blank. She retrieved the key she'd been given, pressed the unlock button—

Beep beep.

Following the sound, Li Miao located her designated "motorcycle."

"..."

"No need to thank me, Mianmian!"

Jia Yunwan waved cheerfully over her shoulder before grinning. "I'll take your beast with me~ Bye~"

With that, her bike—and Erha—vanished in an instant.

That speed... had to be faster than her off-roading.

Li Miao sighed deeply, then climbed onto the electric scooter, clasping her hands together.

"Amen."

"Farewell, Erha. May you have a safe journey."

Erha: "..."

I regret this!

I wanna ride the scooter with my beast master!

AHHHHHHHHH!
