They control access to the Shallows through strict doctrines, preaching that deeper currents are reserved for those chosen by their god. Those who defy their teachings risk being labeled heretics and face severe punishment—or even execution.
Kingdoms
The Kingdoms view the Ocean as a tool for power and prosperity. Rulers hoard its secrets, using Deep Current users to craft weapons, fortify armies, and secure alliances. Lineages with strong Oceanic abilities hold higher status, and rival kingdoms constantly compete to dominate both land and knowledge.
Sects
The Sects revere the Ocean as an enigmatic force—alive, sentient, or perhaps vengeful. Some worship it as sacred, while others fear its depths as cursed. Their rituals often conflict with the Church's teachings, making them outcasts. Yet, they guard ancient secrets about the Ocean's true nature, including whispers of the Ancient Waters.
Tribes
Far from the influence of Churches, Kingdoms, and Sects, many tribes live in harmony with the natural world, relying on the Shallows for survival. They pass down practical knowledge through generations, using it to hunt, heal, and thrive in harsh environments. Some tribes revere the Ocean as a spirit, telling stories of ancestors who once swam in its deeper currents. Though dismissed as primitive by larger powers, these tribes hold forgotten wisdom—and some even protect hidden gateways to the Ocean's mysteries.
