Upon receiving his master’s command, the dragon’s eyes blazed with an untamed fury. Adrian careened backward, trying futilely to escape the creature’s wrath. With a thunderous crash, the man was hurled unceremoniously out the door. Black flames enveloped the entranceway as a cacophony of curses and lamentations echoed from within. A few moments later, a quiet hush fell upon the hallway.
“This is an unexpected turn of events,” Adrian whispered to himself, a frown etching deep lines into his forehead. Lingering for a moment, lost in thought, he pondered the reason why the imprint remained unfinished. Perhaps I should observe a little longer. A window of opportunity was slowly piecing itself together in his mind. As long as the imprint remained incomplete, there was a chance he could claim the dragon’s power for himself.
