Chapter 15 - Curse!

Sigh... Sylvia let out a soft breath. She closed her eyes for a moment before looking up at us again, her expression calmer than before.

"I understand," she said. "But first... Rift needs to understand something."

She turned to look me directly in the eyes. "My Divine Eyes can see spiritual energy flows and the true nature of people's hearts."

"That allows me to see 'curses' deeply embedded in a person's being, or even perceive their Soul Aura."

Oh... she's not talking about direct mind reading. So the reason she knew I was lying was probably because she's good at reading facial expressions and body language, or my Soul Aura gave me away.

"And what I see in you right now is a 'curse' unlike anything I've ever encountered before," her tone became more serious, making me feel a chill run through my body.

She paused briefly, clearing her throat softly before continuing. "Which I suspect... is probably a very high-level curse... or maybe even special-grade... um, I'm not entirely sure about this though."

God-tier level? What is she talking about? Or... could this be related to that weird Soul Either that warned me yesterday? Various thoughts raced through my head until I was completely confused.

"Therefore... traveling to the water city Maris would probably be the best solution for you right now," Sylvia concluded. "Because that's a sacred place that can cleanse curses."

Vex shook his head lightly, looking at his daughter with an unreadable expression.

"Still the same as always, Sylvia! Do whatever you want, never listen to anyone," he grumbled, but then turned to me. "But this matter... we have to wait for Rift's decision first. Otherwise I won't let you go. What do you say, kid?"

All eyes focused on me. I felt the pressure, but in my heart it was already clear... No, I couldn't go right now. I still had a debt of vengeance to settle.

"I'm sorry..." I spoke up, trying to gather my composure. "But I really can't go right now."

"Because here... there are still many things I need to deal with." I have to deal with those bastard loan sharks and their gang first! The rage still simmered in my chest.

"So..." Before I could finish my sentence, Sylvia interrupted.

"Fine. If you're not ready, I won't force you," her eyes showed understanding but remained resolute. "But I won't wait long. I'll go ahead and wait at the water city Maris."

"Almost forgot, here Dad," she tossed something wrapped in dark silk cloth to Vex. I couldn't see what it was, but it looked important.

"See you, Sin. See you, Dad," she turned to say goodbye to her brother and father. "My business here is done." With that, she turned and quickly walked out of the shop, leaving silence and many questions behind.

"Tsk... when will she ever change that stubborn attitude," Vex shook his head lightly, muttering to himself, but I could see the affection in his eyes.

"Will you go, Rift?" Sin turned to ask me. This question was incredibly difficult to answer. Should I follow Sylvia after dealing with things here... or continue training with Sin?

"Let me think about it," I replied. "Right now... there are really several things I need to handle."

"So... help me train more, Sin. I need to get stronger... as fast as possible." My eyes were determined. Revenge was still the main goal, but Sylvia's words about the "curse" still echoed in my head.
