"Where is this, doctor?" Suddenly I woke up with plenty of energy, though I still felt some tightness around my wounds.
The bullet wound in my leg seemed to have healed well too, not painful like before.
A beautiful young doctor wearing glasses with lovely light blue hair - I don't know her name, but she's gorgeous! I quickly shook my head to chase away those scattered thoughts.
"Oh, this is the hospital of...um..." She pursed her lips slightly. "Soul Order." Wow, can't believe it. Even her voice is cute. Sigh...can't stop these thoughts.
"What's today's date?" I asked, wanting to understand the basic situation as quickly as possible to plan properly.
"Friday the 14th, Year 325 of Light and Shadow." I see... If I remember correctly, I think back to the day I fought those guys.
If I remember right, it was the 11th, so 3 days ago. I was unconscious for 3 days? How did I survive? Really curious.
Bang!
The sound of a door slamming open. Kylo rushed into the hospital room immediately. His face looked much more relieved seeing me sitting on the bed.
"How are you, Rift?" he asked loudly.
"Hey, I finished my business and came to find you right away."
"And that arm..." Damn, he's definitely going to ask about the arm. What should I say?
"I just went to investigate Sliver town," Kylo continued, his voice becoming more serious. "I saw traces of fighting that were...very intense."
"Deep, massive trenches stretching very far. Like they were punched by someone's tremendous force."
"Yeah...you understand correctly," I decided to tell the truth, since lying wouldn't accomplish anything anyway.
"I fought those loan sharks."
"Those bastards again!" Kylo immediately furrowed his brow. "I've been trying to find their records within the organization," he made a stressed face. "But I can't find them. I tried to help you but couldn't do anything. Sorry..." Kylo's voice was filled with guilt.
"Don't apologize for anything, Kylo. You didn't do anything wrong," I waved dismissively.
"Oh, this," I immediately changed the subject, not wanting Kylo to overthink or blame himself about my situation. "Did you become a leader? Why can you command those people?"
Kylo, who had been looking down, raised his head. The tension on his face gradually decreased.
"Not really. I got a temporary leadership position just for this mission," he explained. "I was the one who proposed maintaining Sliver, so I was appointed as head of this special task force. Actually, I'm just a lower-level member of Soul Order."
Of course. Just joined the organization a few days ago. If he were that amazing already, it would be too strange. But thinking about it reminds me of myself - training with Sin for just a few days then getting cocky until I nearly died.
"Kylo, I'm going to take the Soul Order exam," I decided to talk about what I'd been thinking about. I'm temporarily changing my goal from revenge and think joining Soul Order would be the best next step.
"Really?!" Kylo's eyes widened. I made a serious face and nodded.
"But not anytime soon," I said while jumping down from the bed. My body felt surprisingly more agile. The sword... hmm, that short sword probably got lost during the fight. Whatever, Sin's father is a blacksmith - I should be able to ask him to forge a new one.
Plus I still haven't turned in that Stone Wolf Mask to the Hunter Guild yet. Might as well go do that.
"See you later, Kylo," I rushed out of the room waving goodbye to Kylo.
"Wait! You're not finished with treatment yet!" the blue-haired nurse shouted after me.
"Hey wait! Rift! You're not healed yet!" Kylo looked bewildered, not knowing what to do. But I'd already run out of the Soul Order hospital, heading straight to the Hunter Guild to collect my reward.
I stood looking at the money I'd just received. This should be enough for new weapons...maybe. If Uncle Vex would give me a discount, that would be good. Hehe.
I ran for quite a while before reaching Rusty city and Vex's Blacksmith shop.
"Hah...hah...hah," I panted with my tongue hanging out, running non-stop without rest. But before entering the shop, I looked at my body condition again. Why does it feel strange? Did I recover this fast? The wounds have barely left any traces.
Could my body be more special than others, recovering this quickly? Heh! Of course it has to be, because I'm Rift, the luckiest person in the world! (Even though I've been unlucky all along)
I walked boldly into Vex's shop, preparing to greet him.
"HEY!!! YOU DAMN BRAT!!! GO FIND SIN AND BRING HIM BACK RIGHT NOW!!!" A shout so loud the shop nearly shook. I could feel sound waves hitting my face until it went numb. Could only smile dryly.
"Wh-what happened, Uncle Vex?"
"He's lost somewhere again! Three days and he still hasn't come back!!!"
"Uh...but before I go look for him, can I get a sword first? My old sword got lost..." I tried negotiating.
"HUH?! WHAT?! Where'd your sword go?!" Vex's eyes went wide. "Forget about it! You go find Sin first! Then I'll give you a sword myself!"
Just woke up and already got another headache. Damn it!
