When the moon set and the sun of the next day rose again over the land of Dawn City, the livestock farm had already returned to calm.
By this time, not far from the farm, on the mountainside of a nearby peak, a massive reservoir shaped like a bowl had been completed overnight.
From above, the reservoir—twenty blades deep and over sixty blades in length and width—had carved out a huge pit in the mountain. However, because it was formed through high-temperature melting, even when filled with water, it wouldn't affect the mountain below or cause any leakage issues.
At present, due to the low flow rate of the mountain spring, the reservoir, which could be considered excessively large, hadn't yet been filled.
But Li De wasn't in a hurry. Though he had already tasked Golddig with making pipes and faucets, it would still take at least two more days to produce them.
Thankfully, faucets and pipes weren't particularly difficult industrial products. These experienced blacksmiths could certainly forge the pipes he needed.
Once the livestock farm was up and running smoothly, Li De planned to hand its management over to Harrison.
He naturally wouldn't waste his time raising pigs, though becoming a pig-farming tycoon didn't sound too bad either.
It was undeniable that although the livestock farm had been built on a whim, it also shifted Li De's focus onto the livelihood issues of Dawn City.
At this stage, for resource-scarce Dawn City, the more pressing concern was increasing the sources of supplies.
The livestock farm could provide richer, more nutritious food, significantly boosting residents' satisfaction. Moreover, once the blood donation plan was initiated, it would help residents recover their physical strength better.
Suddenly recalling something, Li De summoned Harrison, who hadn't yet left the livestock farm.
"What tools do humans currently use for farming?"
Harrison's face was somewhat pale; as a vampire, his physical condition deteriorated rapidly during the day.
"Farming?"
Harrison shook his head. Farming was uninteresting to vampires, who were not inclined towards such tasks. If it weren't for his duties at the City Hall requiring him to care about these matters, he probably wouldn't have paid any attention.
"Clan Leader, they should be using shovels and hoes."
Li De nodded, not at all surprised.
Although this world possessed powerful magic, no noble mage would stoop to farming. It was unthinkable.
Moreover, due to the strong physical constitution of the people in the world of Glory, arduous farmwork was manageable for commoners, albeit with lower efficiency.
"Have Dylon go to the Dawn Plains and capture a herd of wild cattle to domesticate. This will allow the residents to use the cattle for farming. I'll provide you with the necessary supporting facilities."
Ox-plowing was an evolution of productivity in ancient China. In fact, slaughtering oxen privately was illegal in ancient times—even one's own ox couldn't be butchered without permission, as oxen were vital labor forces.
In the world of Glory, because of humans' strong physiques, beasts were rarely used to assist in farming. At least, in the memories of the Vampire Progenitor, humans always farmed by themselves.
The most commonly raised livestock were relatively docile pigs, lambs, horses, and some cattle, though not many.
In the border regions, where beastmen invaded annually, few civilians raised large livestock, especially cattle, which had little utility.
Different worlds truly couldn't be judged by the same logic.
"Yes, Clan Leader."
Li De's orders were ironclad. Harrison immediately complied. After all, the Dawn Plains were teeming with beasts. Over a century of unchecked reproduction, combined with the absence of natural predators, had turned that land into a paradise for wild animals.
After Harrison left, he promptly relayed Li De's orders to Dylon.
Dylon had been capturing wild boars in the Dawn Plains recently, and upon receiving the command, he acted without hesitation. When evening approached and the sun began to set, he set out once again with the vampires.
His proficiency was so skillful, that to others it would be heartbreaking to witness.
To assign a Level 10 Advanced Warrior, a powerful member of the superior Vampire race, to capture wild boars and hunt wild cattle—only Li De, the Vampire Progenitor, could pull that off.
The Whispering Bat Cave was located on the mountainside to the east of Dawn City, close to the Blood Pool where the Holy Spirit was kept.
When the Whispering Bat Cave was established, the safety of the Blood Pool had been considered. If the Blood Pool were ever invaded, the Whispering Bats could arrive in an instant.
However, for now, the Whispering Bats didn't need to engage in combat. Using these unique magical beasts of the vampires for production was the correct path.
Dylon, a formidable warrior, had completely become a tool man. He had spent the past few days catching wild boars, and now he was tasked with capturing wild cattle.
For a second-generation bloodline vampire who had once fought toe-to-toe with Beastmen riding Wyverns, this was far from an enviable job.
But Li De's orders were absolute, and no one dared defy them.
Upon receiving the instructions, Dylon prepared to set out with thirty vampires and two hundred Whispering Bats.
"Viscount, why does our Progenitor want to capture these lowly beasts and raise them? With such vast expanses of land in the Dawn Plains, can't these beasts survive on their own?"
A tall, thin vampire grumbled discontentedly to Dylon.
As proud vampires, they normally wouldn't spare a glance for these beasts. Only magical creatures might warrant a second look.
But now they were being ordered to capture dirty, lowly creatures like wild boars and cattle, which baffled him.
Dylon flipped onto his Whispering Bat and looked down at the vampires below.
"Fool, how dare you presume to understand our Progenitor's vision? Look at Dawn City behind you!"
Hearing this, the lanky vampire was puzzled. What did this have to do with Dawn City?
With questions swirling in his mind, he turned around and gazed upon Dawn City from the mountainside in the north.
From a height of over a thousand blades, the entire city was visible.
Due to the altitude, the city appeared miniaturized, everything looking tiny.
The last rays of the setting sun bathed Dawn City in warm hues, casting a golden glow over the rooftops and giving the scene a dreamlike, ethereal quality.
What had once been a desolate and empty Dawn City just six months ago had undergone tremendous changes.
Crowds of people moved like ants through streets as numerous as tree branches, with the area around the broad plaza being the liveliest.
In the southern district, many newly constructed houses were under construction, with workers bustling about like tiny ants.
Beyond the southern district, a grand structure was rising from the ground.
This was Dawn City's mage tower.
The towering figures of Cyclops moved among them, vigorously tamping down the foundation. Vampires flapping their bat wings used Mage Hands to move massive stones, contributing to the construction of the soon-to-be-completed mage tower.
Further away, human figures could barely be discerned, tilling fields.
Though not clearly visible, the city exuded a vibrant energy that struck all the surrounding vampires.
Compared to the once desolate Dawn City, this city now truly deserved its name. Everything brimmed with hope.
"Do you understand now? Our Lord Progenitor transformed a city of only two hundred vampires into what you see now in just half a year!
And in the future, our Dawn City will become an even greater city than Green City.
All of this is thanks to Lord Progenitor."
Dylon glared fiercely at the vampire who had spoken earlier.
"Put away your ignorant gaze. If you don't understand, follow the order. Anyone who dares disobey will personally be sent to the Security Squad by me."
His cold words made many vampires lower their heads, ashamed of their previous thoughts.
The scolded lanky vampire paled slightly and quickly fell silent.
Vampires were a race with strict hierarchies. Higher-ranking vampires had absolute authority over their bloodline descendants, and the Vampire Progenitor held absolute power over the entire race.
Thus, third-generation vampires absolutely wouldn't dare defy second-generation vampires or the Vampire Progenitor.
However, vampires were intelligent beings. Though all vampires, each had different thoughts. It wasn't surprising that some didn't fully understand Li De's commands.
"Viscount, my apologies. It was my mistake. Lord Progenitor's greatness is beyond my imagination. Please forgive my ignorance."
"Good. Keep your mouth shut from now on.
Everyone prepare to depart. This is a task personally entrusted by his Majesty. If anything goes wrong, the consequences are ones you don't want to know."
Having said this, Dylon pulled the reins. His Whispering Bat suddenly surged upward.
With two powerful claws pushing off the ground, the Whispering Bat leapt into the air, soaring against the wind along the cliffside.
Looking back, a deep mark had been left on the bluestone ground.
Such marks covered this aerial platform, which exceeded two hundred blades in length and width.
Not long after, all the vampires and Whispering Bats took off, flying toward the Dawn Plains to begin hunting creatures they had once scorned—wild cattle.
