Chapter 32 - Chapter 29 It's Not Like She's Mine

Ruby

I went back to my so-called villa because Dad called me to come back, and I did. As I entered, the first thing I saw was Max. He was standing beside Mother—not my mother, his mother—because she never treated me like one. Anyways, I hugged Max and just greeted Mom, because I'm Daniel Sun, and my dad was watching me. She just said, "You're useless, also a disappointment in this family." I just replied with, "Hmm, anything else or should I go?"

The thing is, I'm not damn interested in her talks. Talking to her is like talking to depression, pain, frustration, and forever loneliness. Even if I'm a girl, I'm independent. People respect me, admire me, like me. Only she... she hates me. Why? I know—because I'm not a boy. She wanted a son, and she had one.

At least try to love me a little bit, but no. I'm a girl. So what? I'm a girl. Yes, I am. So what?

Caged mystery...? Listen to all the bullshits of everyone...? Without a word, doing all the things everyone told me...? Didn't stand up for myself...? Just doing work like a doll controlled by others...? Just destroy myself...?

Just because I'm a damn girl, that means I'm not worthy of anything—not even love, care—nothing. Because I'm a girl, which means I have to marry a rich man and, until my death, I can't do anything I want.

If that's the life of a girl, then society and parents should be ashamed of themselves for that. They should be guilty for what and how they're doing this and why.

Because of that society mindset, girls can't live peacefully, even in their own houses. She has to endure it. They have to endure a lot. They can't tell anyone how they're feeling, whether she wants to marry or not. She can't—just because she's a girl. She can't talk, can't move, can't do anything on her own. Even their own parents usually say things that remind her that she's a girl, which means she's nothing. If she was a boy, she's worthy of everything.

"But she's a girl. Unfortunately, she is not worthy even of breathing on her own." Parents remind her, "Hey, you're a girl. Don't talk back." Even when I'm just telling them. "Don't talk loud. Don't even talk. If something happens—you know what I mean—it's not simple. If some boy does something to you, just endure it. Don't tell anyone. Who's gonna marry you?" Damn, that society always mistreated girls.

I looked at her and went straight to my dad and greeted him. We were discussing business meetings, upcoming events, parties, projects—because Dad and I, we were collaborating.

"Dad, tonight we have a party. Will you come...?" He often denies it. He just said, "You and Max go and attend it on behalf of me."

"Well, today I'm going with you and Max. Now go and get ready for that."

I nodded and went to my room. I'm not obsessed with looks. I know I'm hot. I mean, everyone around me knows. I wore my formal dress—black shirt neatly tucked under my jeans, my watch—and here, I'm ready. Just my red hair was matching the vibe.

Today Max was driving, and we went to the party. We greeted colleagues, business partners, future business partners with fake smiles and compliments.

Well, I was talking to a girl—she's my dad's business partner's daughter. She's the same age as Aveline. Wait, why was I suddenly thinking about her? Ema... she's cute, but not like Aveline. Again, why is she in my mind right now?

"Ruby Sun, if you don't mind..." I looked at her. "Shall we dance?"

"Yeah, of course." I offered her my hand. She accepted it and we were dancing. She's a good dancer, but not like Aveline. It seems like she was forcing herself to dance more formally—unlike Aveline, who can dance. She never forces herself to dance. She looks alive while dancing.

I was suddenly feeling like I was being watched by someone. I spotted that person—it was Aveline. She was continuously looking at Ema like she could kill her with just her glare. I was enjoying it, so just to tease her, I bent Ema and she held my shoulders for support.

She was done—almost about to break something like a mad rabbit. I was enjoying every second of it – God, she's so cute.

I whispered in Ema's ear, "Did you like that, Ema?" She blushed, and Aveline was done.
