Chapter 142 - Chapter 145: The Descent of Kamui

After completing the mission, Uchiha Yuan and Shisui didn't linger in Takigakure. They turned and left immediately.

"Senior Yuan, was that blue giant just now Susanoo?" Shisui asked cautiously.

"That's right, it was Susanoo."

"Then... Senior Yuan, does that mean you've awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan?"

Yuan nodded in confirmation.

"Senior Yuan, that's amazing! To awaken Mangekyō Sharingan at such a young age…"

Yuan simply smiled and didn't say more.

Meanwhile, at that very moment, Kakashi had left Konoha.

The reason Kakashi left was because Rin had taken a supposedly low-risk C-rank mission to the Land of Bears several days earlier.

The mission wasn't difficult, so Kakashi hadn't been concerned at first.

But now nearly ten days had passed with no news from Rin, and Kakashi realized something must've gone wrong.

After explaining the situation to Namikaze Minato, Kakashi set off alone from Konoha.

What Kakashi didn't know was that on his way to the Land of Waves, he had already been spotted by White Zetsu.

White Zetsu immediately reported Kakashi's movements to Uchiha Madara.

In the dark underground hideout, upon hearing White Zetsu's report, Madara murmured, "So it's finally begun? Then the plan must commence."

In truth, from the moment Rin took the mission to the Land of Waves, Madara had been watching.

Not long ago, Madara had already placed Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage, under his control, all in preparation for this exact plan—to force Obito to awaken his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Madara controlled Yagura and had him issue a secret order to the Kirigakure ANBU: capture Nohara Rin in the Land of Bears.

The ANBU set an ambush at the border of the Land of Bears and waited for Rin to arrive.

Rin, unaware of all this, entered the Land of Bears without the slightest suspicion.

Once they confirmed her identity, the ambushing ANBU attacked.

With only chūnin-level strength, Rin was easily overwhelmed by the two jōnin and two special jōnin Kirigakure sent to ensure her capture.

Since they were lying in wait, Rin never even saw them coming.

They knocked her unconscious, took the Flying Thunder God Kunai that Minato had given her from her pouch, and discarded it on the spot.

Then they sealed her chakra and transported her overnight to the Land of Water.

As in the original timeline, the Three-Tails was sealed into Rin.

With the sealing completed, Madara was simply waiting for Kakashi to show up.

Just now, he received White Zetsu's message—Kakashi had left Konoha.

Madara immediately had White Zetsu move Rin back to the Land of Bears, and ordered Yagura to dispatch a large ANBU squad from Kirigakure, led by an elite jōnin, to that location.

The ANBU received this order: recapture the "escaped" Rin and transport her toward Konoha, then release the Three-Tails to cause catastrophic damage to the village.

All preparations were now complete.

All that remained was for Obito—the main character—to take the stage.

Meanwhile, in a cave, Obito's body, with the help of Hashirama cells, had mostly recovered.

He had long wanted to return to Konoha, but White Zetsu was always monitoring him, and a massive stone wall blocked the exit—he had no way out.

Just as he failed another escape attempt and lay bored on the wooden bed, White Zetsu suddenly appeared, urgency in his voice.

"Obito, I just returned. That Rin and that idiot Kakashi you always talk about... they're in danger. They've been surrounded by Kirigakure ANBU."

Obito's expression changed dramatically. Panicked, he leapt from the bed and charged at the stone wall, striking it with all his strength.

But he wasn't strong enough—the wall didn't break, and his own arm snapped instead.

Seeing this, Zetsu signaled to Tobi (another White Zetsu), who quickly merged with Obito. With Tobi's strength, Obito easily destroyed the stone wall.

As the wall crumbled, the previously slumbering Madara opened his eyes. Obito thanked him and ran off without looking back.

Madara smiled as he watched Obito's departing figure.

Meanwhile, Kakashi and the Kirigakure ANBU arrived at the scene in the Land of Bears nearly at the same time, and both spotted Rin tied to a tree.

Kakashi, thinking Rin was being hunted, immediately activated Lightning Release chakra, stimulating his cells to reach her first and rescue her.

The Kirigakure ANBU, seeing the two fleeing toward Konoha, didn't pursue at full speed—just followed from a distance.

As Kakashi fled with Rin, she regained consciousness.

She realized the Three-Tails had been sealed inside her, and, just like in the original timeline, she told Kakashi she couldn't return to Konoha—then turned and ran back toward the enemy.

Kakashi, not knowing the full story, chased after her.

Seeing the two return, the Kirigakure ANBU quickly surrounded them.

"Sir, the girl clearly knows about the Three-Tails inside her. She won't willingly return to Konoha. Why don't we just kill the boy and drag her back? It'll be easier," one ANBU said to the squad leader.

The leader agreed—it was more convenient. So the Kirigakure ANBU launched their attack on Kakashi.

At this point, Kakashi was stronger than his canon counterpart, but the enemy's numbers were overwhelming. He was quickly outmatched.

Meanwhile, Obito, rushing to the scene, saw through Kakashi's Sharingan how Kakashi and Rin were being surrounded.

He immediately picked up speed, desperate to reach them.

Just as he arrived, Rin, like in the original timeline, jumped into Kakashi's Chidori, impaling herself.

The moment the Chidori pierced Rin's heart, Obito felt like the world collapsed around him. Grief and despair surged in.

He no longer wanted to remain in this world—he just wanted to escape it all.

As both Obito's and Kakashi's Sharingan spun wildly, the two-tomoe transformed into three-tomoe, and then into the unique pinwheel pattern of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

The Sharingan, known as the "eye that reflects the heart," was awakened by Obito's overwhelming desire to escape the cruel reality.

In that moment, his eye carved open a new dimension between illusion and reality—Thus was born the most broken dōjutsu in Naruto: Kamui.

Everything that followed mirrored the original story—Obito slaughtered all the ANBU, cradled Rin's body, and muttered that famous line:"This world... is hell."

Madara's plan had succeeded.

The next day, Uchiha Yuan and Shisui returned to Konoha. Yuan went straight to the Hokage's office to report to Namikaze Minato, only to run into a devastated Kakashi.
