Chapter 11 - BD11

Chapter 11: Potions

Harry agreed with this, but when he saw Ivan feeding Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans to Scabbers non-stop, he couldn't help but speak.

"Ivan, if you keep feeding him like this, Scabbers will almost die of overeating."

After hearing what Harry said, Hermione, who was about to continue asking questions, had her attention diverted to Scabbers in Ron's hand.

The mouse, which was originally skinny and had tangled hair, now looked different.

After running around the dormitory and getting covered in dust, Scabbers was cleaned thoroughly by Ron with a brush. In addition, he had been fed every day for the past few days and was now obviously a little fatter.

"How could that be? This is the normal amount of food. Scabbers was starving and thin before, so he should have more food!" Ivan insisted on his opinion and put another Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean in front of Scabbers's mouth.

"Besides, this is also a way to express my apology," Ivan said again.

Scabbers didn't appreciate it at all. He glared at Ivan angrily and arrogantly pulled Ivan's hand away with his little paws.

It wasn't until Scabbers realized that his little paws couldn't overcome Ivan's strength that he took a bite of the Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean that was placed in front of him.

After all, it's right in front of you. No matter how angry you are, you still have to eat, right?

I can't resist anyway...

Well... Actually, if you taste it carefully, the Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans are quite delicious, except for some of the individual flavors...

Noticing the weakening of Scabbers's resistance, Ivan couldn't help but sigh that Peter Pettigrew had been hiding for so many years, and although he might not be good at other things, his mentality was quite stable.

He was being chased by the person he feared the most a few nights ago, but just one night later he was able to continue feasting.

Even though that pursuit happened in a dream...

However, this also means that Peter Pettigrew didn't know about the Fear Charm, a rare Dark magic. Maybe he just thought that Ivan used some magic to turn his beautiful dream into a nightmare...

After all, there was no reason for a young wizard like Ivan to know what happened eleven years ago, let alone know that Sirius's Animagus was a black dog.

"What if he gets too fat?" Ron said worriedly as he looked at Scabbers, who was being "taken special care of" by Ivan.

"It's okay. Scabbers doesn't have to deliver letters. It will be easier to fatten him up so he won't run around," Ivan said comfortingly.

Ivan thought to himself that if it weren't for Peter Pettigrew, Voldemort's resurrection plan wouldn't have been so easy to succeed.

By that time, when he has been fed until he is as fat as a ball, Ivan wants to see if Scabbers can still run away when facing the pursuit of Crookshanks and Sirius.

While chatting, they walked towards the basement where the Potions class was held.

By the time they walked into the classroom, Harry and Ron believed the rumor that Snape was a Dark wizard a little more.

The classroom wasn't big, but the atmosphere was somewhat gloomy and scary. There were some glass bottles filled with blue-green liquid around. You could vaguely see the bodies of some animals soaked in the liquid.

In addition, the classroom was built underground. If Ivan didn't know that this was Hogwarts, he would have thought it was a secret laboratory of some Dark wizard.

"Hurry up and go to your seats. We have to be careful in this class!" Ron said.

At this point Ron no longer had any doubts about what George had said before, and hurriedly pulled Ivan, Harry, and Hermione to sit down in their seats, so as not to give Snape a reason to deduct points.

However, Ivan knew that even if they behaved well in class, Snape would find a reason to find fault with them.

Bang!

After the young wizards from the two Houses sat down, the gloomy door was suddenly pushed open, and the sound of the door hitting the wall echoed in the classroom.

Not long after, a thin figure walked in from the doorway, his sallow skin covered by a long black cloak. His cold eyes swept over the young wizards until they stopped briefly when they met Harry. His hooked nose made him look like a giant human-shaped bat...

Snape walked to the front of the stage and waved his wand with his right hand. The curtains around him were automatically drawn down. Without the sunlight shining into the basement through the window, the classroom immediately became much darker.

When the light became dim, Ivan clearly noticed that Snape's tense expression relaxed slightly.

After finishing all this, the Potions Master picked up the roll call and looked around at the young wizards who were intimidated by his aura.

"I will take full roll call from now on. I hope no one dares to disappear in my class!"

Snape's deep voice began to echo in the classroom. The usually naughty young wizards became very quiet. Only Draco Malfoy from Slytherin could laugh at this moment.

"Neville Longbottom."

"Ivan Hals..."

"Harry Potter..."

When he read Harry's name, Snape's calm tone fluctuated slightly.

"Ha~ Oh, I almost forgot." Snape had a blank expression on his face, but there seemed to be a hint of sarcasm in his words. "There's a new celebrity in our school!"

The young wizards around looked towards Harry when they heard this. Draco and his two followers even laughed secretly.

Harry felt a little uncomfortable being targeted for no reason, but what he didn't know was that this was just the beginning.

Snape turned his head away from Harry and looked at everyone.

"You are here to learn the fine art of making medicine."

"Since there is no silly waving of wands here, many of you will not quite believe that this is magic. I do not expect you to truly understand the beauty of the art of medicine."

Snape paused here and spoke with an intoxicated tone.

"Just think of the white smoke rising from the slow boiling of the medicinal herbs in the big steam cauldron... and the liquid flowing in the human veins, the liquid with infinitely subtle power... it can simply intoxicate your heart and fascinate all your senses... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even... stopper death... as long as you don't become as stupid as the fools I taught before."

Snape finished a long speech and suddenly spoke again.

"Potter, what would happen if the powder of asphodel root were added to an infusion of wormwood?"

Harry looked confused.

What is asphodel? What is wormwood?

Harry looked at Ron for help, and Ron also had a confused look on his face. Hermione raised her right hand high, but unfortunately, Snape pretended not to see it.

Ivan was quite far away and could only open his mouth and silently utter the words "Draught of Living Death" and "sleeping potion."

Harry was a little anxious, but Snape's compelling gaze made him dare not look at Ivan for too long. Naturally, he couldn't guess what Ivan was saying. After a long while, he could only utter a few words with difficulty.

"I don't know, Professor!"

Ivan held his forehead with his hand helplessly. He had tried his best.

Even if he told Harry the answer in advance, it would be useless unless Harry could memorize all the books about potions; otherwise, Snape would have plenty of ways to target Harry.
