Chapter 9 - Meeting Ning Fengzhi

Yang Lin warned Yang Xiong not to leak the information and planned to personally verify it before deciding how to proceed.

Over the next few days, Yang Lin and Sun Yu both took time off to stay at home. They each purchased several high-grade pieces of whale glue, estimated to be over ten thousand years old.

In this era, whale glue was generally only considered useful as an aphrodisiac, with no other recognized purpose. Therefore, the price was not particularly high, even ten-thousand-year-old whale glue only cost a few thousand gold soul coins, which wasn't much for the Yang family.

Meanwhile, Yang Xiong continued attending school as usual. In class, Ning Rongrong didn't seem to have shared the matter with anyone else, but the way she looked at Yang Xiong was rather peculiar.

That evening after dinner, Yang Lin and Sun Yu seemed a bit nervous.

"Xiong'er, after a few days of testing, your mother and I have confirmed that whale glue does indeed have remarkable effects. After taking it following your method, both of us experienced a one-level increase in soul power, and we also feel stronger physically. Our soul power circulates faster too, especially your mother, who seems to have had even better results than I did."

Yang Xiong smiled. "Dad, then we should take this chance while no one else knows the secret to buy more whale glue. It's still relatively cheap right now, but we might not be able to afford it later."

Yang Lin nodded. "I've already bought several pieces enough for you and your brother to use in the future. Since you were the one who discovered this secret, I plan to report it to the sect. Do you want any kind of reward?"

Yang Xiong thought for a moment and then said, "Dad, could you report the discovery as your own instead? I'm only eight years old, others might become suspicious."

Yang Lin shook his head. "Xiong'er, you still don't understand how things work within the sect. In our sect, it's not a problem to stand out in fact, the danger lies in being too inconspicuous. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect doesn't discriminate against soul masters with any kind of martial soul."

"Since you made such a discovery, the sect will recognize your talent and likely invest more resources in you. When good opportunities arise, they'll think of you first. After all, our resources are limited."

"Besides, this discovery is too significant. I plan to take you to personally report it to the Sect Master. Given how strict internal management is, your identity won't be leaked."

In truth, Yang Lin didn't say everything on his mind. Yang Xiong had been the last student in Class One to reach level ten, which could make others think he had poor talent. If he now made such a shocking discovery, even the Sect Master would take notice.

Only then did Yang Xiong nod. He had always thought that quietly cultivating would eventually allow him to catch up with, and surpas ,others. But now he realized that might have been overly optimistic.

The inner sect of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect was located very close to Seven Treasure City, but most of the sect's soul master forces were concentrated in the inner sect.

The inner sect was nestled among the mountains, surrounded by natural barriers. It resembled a small city, but both its height and defenses were extremely robust.

Inside a grand hall, Ning Fengzhi sat with Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo, seemingly discussing matters related to Ning Rongrong.

"Uncle Sword, Uncle Bone, I think Rongrong has been doing quite well in school recently. Her soul power is growing fast too. As expected, she's the most talented disciple our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect has ever had."

Both Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo nodded in agreement, clearly approving of Ning Fengzhi's words.

Ning Fengzhi continued, "This time, the entire Class One seems to have done well. In two years, everyone has become a soul master, even that boy whose martial soul is his own body has performed decently."

Bone Douluo said, "Innate soul power of level six, and it took two years just to reach level ten. That's slow. Rongrong is already close to level sixteen."

Ning Fengzhi smiled. "True, his martial soul is of poor quality. However, Lin Gong seems to like the boy. He says the child ranks first in academics, loves reading, and has vast knowledge. More importantly, he trains his body diligently, physically, he's the strongest in the class."

"You both know Lin Gong is extremely strict and has very high standards. Otherwise, I wouldn't have let him personally teach Rongrong."

Bone Douluo snorted, "That's putting the cart before the horse. Soul masters should prioritize soul power growth, childhood is the golden age for training. Wasting time like this is just squandering his potential."

Ning Fengzhi didn't argue, clearly agreeing with Bone Douluo. Sword Douluo, as always, kept his eyes closed and ignored the chatter.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door. "Sect Master, Outer Sect Deacon Yang Lin is here with his son Yang Xiong. They claim to have something important and confidential to report."

Ning Fengzhi remained calm. "Let them come directly to the main hall."

Bone Douluo frowned slightly. "Fengzhi, what could an outer sect deacon possibly have that's so important? They should just report to the outer sect elder."

Ning Fengzhi smiled. "Uncle Bone, I've reviewed the background of this family. They've served faithfully in our outer sect for generations. They can be trusted. And if they dared come to me directly, they must have discovered something significant."

Led by an attendant, Yang Xiong and Yang Lin soon entered the hall. Besides Sword Douluo and Ning Fengzhi, there was another tall, fierce-looking man with a protruding bone structure, Bone Douluo.

Among the three, Ning Fengzhi wore a kind smile, Sword Douluo sat with his eyes closed, and Bone Douluo gave off a vibe of "keep your distance."

Following his father's lead, Yang Xiong saluted. "Greetings, Sect Master. Greetings, Senior Sword Douluo. Greetings, Senior Bone Douluo!"

Ning Fengzhi smiled warmly. "No need to be so formal. Your family is part of our sect no need to be nervous."

"So, what brings you here today?"

Yang Lin immediately replied, "Sect Master, we recently made a major discovery that may benefit the sect. It's been thoroughly documented."

He then presented a piece of paper detailing the family's experiences with whale amber and the method of consumption.

With a wave of his hand, Bone Douluo summoned the paper but handed it straight to Ning Fengzhi without looking.

Ning Fengzhi read through the contents with an initially calm expression, but soon his face grew serious and even showed a hint of excitement.

"Yang Lin, have you personally verified that this method works and has no side effects?"

Bone Douluo looked stunned. Ning Fengzhi was usually calm and unreadable, this sudden reaction was very uncharacteristic.

Yang Lin answered solemnly, "Yes, Sect Master. After my son's discovery, my wife and I have personally tested it. So far, there are no side effects."

Ning Fengzhi nodded. "Excellent. I will have others verify it as well. If everything checks out, this could be the most significant discovery in our sect in the past hundred years. Your family will be recognized as great contributors to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect".
