Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Legends and Ghosts

Watson – Jig-Jig Street, Late Night

Lucy had a lead an underground tech vendor in Kabuki that sold rare components "off the back of a Corpo AV." Word was, the place wasn't on the Grid and only dealt in hush-hush parts. She wanted to upgrade Bee's body stealth modules and maybe figure out what the hell that blade in his arm actually was.

"Keep your head down," Lucy said as they weaved through the back alley bazaar. "No stunts, no sudden musical messages."

🎥 [Soundbite: "Aye aye, captain."]

She sighed.

Inside the vendor's shop, a jittery netrunner took one look at Bee's scanned internals and blanched. "I don't know what you are, choom… but this ain't chrome from around here."

Bee tilted his head.

🎶 [Cue: "Interstellar Overdrive" - glitchy rock riff]

The netrunner flinched. "Okay, okay! I've got something. Found it in a wrecked Arasaka convoy military-grade, unknown signature, locked code. Could be compatible with your hardware."

Lucy traded for it using eddies she definitely wasn't supposed to have and they walked out with a sealed black mod-case.

In the Afterlife

Hours later, Lucy dragged Bee into a bar that pulsed with quiet tension the infamous Afterlife. She said they needed a contact to help decrypt the module.

Bee stood silent under the flickering holo-signs, absorbing the atmosphere. He knew this place. Not from memories. From instinct.

🎥 [Soundbite: "This is where the legends come to die…"]

And then she walked past him.

Rogue.

Older. Sharp. Presence like a monowire to the throat.

She didn't say a word at first but her eyes flicked to him as if they recognized something. Just a glance. A flicker of something ancient and calculating behind her stare.

"You're not from here," she said, quiet. "You've got the kind of heat that turns heads and starts wars."

Bee said nothing. Just nodded.

Rogue gave a faint smirk. "Watch yourself, Chromeheart. Night City doesn't like things it can't control."

And then she was gone, gliding into the back room like a ghost.

Lucy blinked. "Okay... That was Rogue. You don't get words out of her unless she wants something."

Bee tapped his speaker.

🎥 [Soundbite: "Legend… just brushed my shoulder."]

Lucy laughed. "C'mon, Sparkplug. Let's go make you one too."

Later That Night – Rooftop View

The city spread out beneath them, lights pulsing like veins in a sleeping beast.

Lucy sat with her knees pulled up, staring into the neon haze. Bee sat beside her, legs dangling over the edge.

"So," she said, "how do you feel?"

Bee didn't answer right away. Then, slowly, he tapped a button on his arm.

🎶 "I'm still standing… yeah yeah yeah…" 🎶

Lucy smiled and leaned into him. Just a little.

And for a second, in a city that burned everything soft and kind… Bee felt something human.
