I went on my knees from the impact of the hit on my gut. My assailant, Connor, the school bully, looked down on me with a smug smile, "Heh, can't even defend yourself. Looks like I got an easy catch. Honestly, I'm surprised by how utterly pathetic you are." He said, then proceeded to kick me in the gut for good measure making me gasp in pain. He then waved his hand upwards and used his magical ability to lift my body afloat. With me suspended in the air unable to move, he began to search my pockets for any useful loot. he found my necklace which was a red rune tied to a string tied around my neck. It wasn't much but I valued it greatly. I helplessly flailed my arms and tried to stop him but to no avail. He frowned in confusion, "Is this some kind of magic enhancer?" He asked, giving me a sidelong glance,"Why should you be having one? You can't even use magic. It should belong to someone who can actually use it." He snapped it out of my neck. I looked at him, feeling pathetic and hopeless. "Don't take that, please." I said weakly. He smirked and ignored me. He wore the necklace and tried using it as a magic enhancer by trying to lift a nearby truck. Much to his annoyance, nothing fancy happened. "Useless necklace." he snarled, removing it from his neck. He dropped it on the ground on purpose and left. "Waste of time." He grumbled as he turned sharply and walked away
He walked away to a certain distance then his levitation spell wore off on me. I landed hard on the ground and cursed softly. I winced as I stood up and brushed the dirt off of my clothes. I picked up the necklace. It was a gift from my mother when I was little. A reminder that she's always there for me whenever I feel like losing hope. It had great sentimental value. I felt like I'd strangle Connor with absolutely no remorse. I wished he'd just get hit by a truck or something. But I knew that isn't how the world works. Connor bullied me everytime. Teasing me on when I'd finally get my magical ability and make my life worth something. It happens when you're born with a stupid mutation that completely negates your magical energy. People treat me like I'm an outcast. Like I don't belong. It made me angry most of the time, though my mom tells me not to hold grudges. I wish I was like her, she seems so happy and content with this cruel world. I looked down at the ground for no particular reason, then I remembered that I was supposed to be heading home soon
