Later that day, the trio stood in a private chamber overlooking the capital gardens. The princess stood before a map table, pointing toward a region on the edge of the empire.
"This," she said, "was once the village of Velmira. Fertile land, a strong water source, but… the last noble lord bankrupted it. Took everything. Food, coin, even the livestock. When the villagers rebelled, he fled in the night. Most who stayed behind are starving or have already left."
She tapped the map again. "But Velmira is key to expanding our western trade routes. If someone could rebuild it to restore hope and structure, then the capital would flourish."
Kenzo crossed his arms. "So, you want me to be a noble?"
Lysaria grinned. "I want you to be Lord Kenzo, holder of Velmira, and a knight under my banner. You'll be given land, a starting fund, and the authority to govern. Your success will mean more than political favor as it will write your name into this world's future."
Kenzo glanced at Akina and Rina. Akina nodded silently, support glowing in her eyes. Rina gave a small, eager smile.
"What happens if I fail?" Kenzo asked.
The princess's expression turned serious. "Then Velmira will die. And the empire will remember the outsider who couldn't finish what he started."
Kenzo looked back at the map, his reflection caught in the glass.
He had started with nothing as he was a NEET from another world, whose greatest skills came from games and memories.
Now, he had people who believed in him. A wife. A lover. A chance to rebuild, not just a village, but a legacy.
He clenched his fist.
