Chiga followed Rayleigh into a vast open field, the air still and heavy with tension. Rayleigh came to a halt, glancing over his shoulder at the young man trailing behind.
"This should do," he said calmly. "But before we begin… tell me—how did the Marines find me?"
Rayleigh couldn't wrap his head around it. If even a young officer like this one had found him, then word of his location must have spread far and wide across Marine Headquarters. And yet, he had gone to great lengths to remain hidden. No matter how much he pondered it, he couldn't fathom how he'd been exposed.
Of course, the answer was beyond his imagination: Chiga wasn't just a Marine—he was a transmigrator. A man who had watched One Piece.
Chiga obviously couldn't say that out loud. So, with a smirk and a touch of mockery, he replied,
"Pirates like you shouldn't underestimate the Marines."
The words sent a chill down Kalifa's spine. Standing behind Chiga, she mentally groaned.
My little ancestor… don't boast on behalf of the Marines. Intelligence like this is the World Government's domain. Even they didn't know Rayleigh's whereabouts—how could we?
And worse—Stop provoking Rayleigh! She cast a glance at the legendary pirate, a cold sweat forming. If you piss him off, we—and even the cat—might not leave here alive!
Rayleigh, however, remained unfazed. With the poise of a man who had seen too much to be surprised by anything, he merely gave a faint smile.
"So the Marines are bolder than I thought. Very well," he said. "If you want to fight me, survive this first. Only then will you be worthy."
With those words, Rayleigh's eyes sharpened.
Buzz.
A crushing aura burst forth from his body—Conqueror's Haki. Invisible and overwhelming, it surged outward like a tidal wave.
Kalifa had no time to react. Her knees buckled, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed. But before she could hit the ground, Chiga caught her.
Kneeling, he gently pried open her eyelids. His Rinnegan flickered—and Kalifa snapped awake, gasping for breath.
Disoriented, she blinked up at him—only to realize she was in his arms. Her cheeks flushed as she quickly wriggled free. Surprisingly, Chiga didn't stop her this time. That uncharacteristic restraint left her momentarily stunned.
But then it hit her—Rayleigh had knocked her out with nothing but presence, and Chiga had caught her and brought her back.
So this is the gap between us… Her heart skipped. Trying to mask her embarrassment, she mumbled,
"Thanks. Sorry for… causing trouble."
Chiga didn't respond right away. The sudden softness in her voice caught him off guard. The always-composed Kalifa… apologizing?
Still, he didn't let it show. Waving a hand dismissively, he said,
"That was Conqueror's Haki. You're not suited for what comes next. Stay out of it."
Kalifa wasn't the type to argue when she knew she was outmatched. Nodding, she used Soru to vanish to a distant corner of the field, crouching low behind a rock, eyes locked on the two men.
Rayleigh, watching her go, made no move to stop her. Someone who fainted from a single wave of Haki didn't even register as a threat. His attention was squarely on the Marine who had withstood it like a passing breeze.
Interesting, he mused. That level of Haki should have taken down Rear Admirals… even Vice Admirals would have struggled. But this kid? He didn't even blink.
Chiga turned to face him fully, a thin smile tugging at his lips.
"That was Conqueror's Haki, right? As expected of the Dark King. I nearly passed out."
Rayleigh chuckled.
"You're lying. You looked completely unaffected."
Chiga's grin faded, his eyes narrowing. The Rinnegan flared—its purple light deepening as two black tomoe spun slowly in his right eye.
"Then how about this?"
Suddenly, a pressure burst from Chiga's body—his own Conqueror's Haki awakening. Unlike before, this time it came roaring out like a storm.
(A/N:Bro got King's Haki)
Rayleigh remained still, arms crossed, letting the aura wash over him.
"Not bad," he admitted. "Seems you have the disposition of a king too. That's rare… especially among Marines."
Chiga smirked. He hadn't expected to rattle Rayleigh—who had long mastered this power—but holding back felt wrong.
And besides… his Conqueror's Haki wasn't ordinary.
The energy within his Rinnegan surged, twisting and magnifying his aura. Then—boom—an explosion of pressure erupted in all directions.
Rinnegan: Pressure.
Shockwaves burst outward in a 360-degree arc, each like a blade of wind. Trees—massive, ancient ones—were sliced clean in half as if made of paper. Ravines tore through the earth like scars, the once-serene forest turning into a battlefield of devastation.
Rayleigh's eyes widened. He leapt into motion, dodging the flying slashes with Kenbunshoku Haki—but his mind was racing.
This… this is still Conqueror's Haki? No—it's mixed with something else. But he just awakened it. That surge… it was real!
The truth, of course, was that Chiga's power wasn't limited to traditional Haki. His technique infused it with the destructive force of the Rinnegan, creating a hybrid: an overwhelming force that turned aura into devastation.
The shockwave storm continued for five whole minutes, leveling everything in its path.
When it ended, silence reigned.
The entire landscape had changed. Forest turned to wasteland. Trees fallen. Earth torn open. It was as if nature itself had submitted.
Kalifa stared blankly from her corner, unable to comprehend the destruction.
He didn't even move his hands… and he destroyed everything.
Is this… really just a Marine Captain?
Medis, perched on Chiga's shoulder, watched with sparkling eyes.
As expected of my creator… he's a god.
Rayleigh, no longer smiling, slowly drew the sword from beneath his cloak.
"Young man," he said solemnly, "you've earned my respect. Tell me your name."
Chiga raised a hand, brushing his hair from his forehead.
"Uchiha Chiga."
