Chapter 5 - Is This Even Reasonable?

Luka glanced over the information on the panel, then looked at the unpainted, bare-metal handgun in his hand.

A strange expression crossed his face.

He'd thought this prototype pistol, developed by his parents' company, looked oddly familiar.

But now that the panel identified it as the [Enforcer] handgun, he realized its resemblance to the one from the anime Psycho-Pass was only about 20–30% at best.

So the so-called "core component" isn't determined by visual similarity?

And this time, the synthesis materials didn't mention any power source or ammunition—could it be those are already built into the core component?

A flurry of thoughts flashed through his mind, but Luka ultimately suppressed his curiosity for now.

Even if he wanted to attempt synthesis, the [Enforcer] handgun required materials he currently didn't have.

He certainly couldn't replace the "micro projector" it called for with the family's giant brick-like projector, right?

He looked at the gun's battery indicator—it was already down to one bar, even though Jina had only fired three shots.

That explained why, despite its impressive power, minimal recoil, and weak mid-range energy decay, the weapon was still only considered a prototype.

Its main flaw was insufficient energy, giving it very limited combat endurance.

"Hmph, probably also costs a fortune to make."

He tucked the gun into his jacket. Though he couldn't synthesize the [Enforcer] just yet, there was another item—one he had materials for on-site.

Luka unstrapped his backpack and rummaged through it, pulling out a strange-looking toy monkey.

The toy held two silly-looking brass cymbals and had a large wind-up key on its back.

As he touched it, another translucent blue panel appeared:

[Boom Boom's Monkey Bomb]

[Arcane: League of Legends Universe 1/5]

[Creator: Boom Boom]

[Core Component: Toy Monkey]

[Synthesis Materials: 3 Unstable Energy Crystals]

[Item Description: A deceptively simple but highly explosive toy bomb. Its entire destructive power comes from three Hex Crystals. Once wound up, it enters an unstable timed state. It can shuffle slowly over short distances and triggers its explosion by repeated cymbal claps. Absolutely no safety features.

[Tip: Dear user~ Please make sure no friends or loved ones are within the blast radius before using!]

Indeed, this childhood toy from Luka's past was a valid synthesis core.

And the synthesis requirement was strikingly "simple"—just one type of material.

Unfortunately, until now Luka had no idea what counted as an "Unstable Energy Crystal" in the real world.

So synthesis was a nonstarter.

But this wasn't an ordinary world.

His eyes lit up as they fell upon the two headless Chitauri corpses in the room.

If memory served, in the Spider-Man movies, the Vulture salvaged alien tech from Chitauri gear and turned it into powerful black-market weapons.

And those purple energy crystals frequently seen on Chitauri tech? Highly unstable. They even exploded when scanned by airport X-rays.

Those had to qualify.

Without hesitation, Luka stepped over to the corpses, ignoring the gore, and began inspecting their gear.

Each Chitauri had a compact folding energy rifle. Though glowing with purple light, the guns were too complex to dismantle quickly.

But their glowing purple hand-embedded crystals were practically screaming, "Pick me!"

He tried prying one loose—no luck.

So Luka grabbed a Chitauri rifle and used its blade to hack off the alien hands entirely.

Four hands, four crystals.

He decided not to waste time prying further. Instead, he drew another summoning circle on the floor.

He placed the toy monkey at the center and arranged the three crystal-bearing hands at three corners.

Sure enough, the crystals began glowing with a soft white light.

Got it!

Without hesitation, Luka pressed his hands to the circle and whispered:

"Synthesize!"

Golden light burst forth, swallowing the ritual array.

When the light faded, the newly created item sat in the middle: a bizarre toy monkey, brass cymbals between which was now embedded a glowing blue crystal, with two more identical crystals stuffed inside its body.

The alien hands remained, but the crystals were gone—cleanly removed.

"Huh? Purple crystals turned blue?"

Luka had thought this would be a crude cobble-job—maybe the crystals would just get inserted into the toy.

But no. No matter what he used, synthesis seemed to transform components into their canonical forms.

The Chitauri's purple energy crystals had been transmuted into true Hex Crystals.

How could he be sure?

Because now, one of the blue crystals in the monkey bomb was glowing with that familiar, soft white radiance of a new core component.

Gently, Luka unscrewed the monkey's head and retrieved the glowing crystal.

Another panel appeared:

[Hex Core]

[Arcane: League of Legends Universe 2/5]

[Creator: Viktor]

[Core Component: Hex Crystal]

[Synthesis Materials: 1 Small Stable Reactor, 4 Unique Magical Runes]

[Item Description: A stable, perpetual energy source infused with magical power—pinnacle of Hextech elegance. It contains infinite energy and the power to drive glorious biological evolution—provided your body and mind can resist arcane corruption.

[Tip: If you'd rather not destroy the world… or yourself, maybe don't let this touch organic tissue.]

Staring at the absurd description—"infinite energy," "glorious evolution"—

Luka could only ask one thing:

"Is this even reasonable?!"
