When Raditz and Nappa returned to Bulma's house, everyone had been waiting for a while. Vegeta couldn't wait to try out the new facility and was just waiting for Raditz to arrive.
There were two completed gravity training rooms. One was built right at Bulma's home—after all, her property was huge, so accommodating multiple gravity chambers was no problem. The other was actually a gravity device installed on the new spacecraft "HOPE." It had been constructed from the fragments of Turles' ship and the single-person Saiyan pods, making it suitable for long-distance space travel with multiple passengers.
At first, Vegeta was dismissive when he saw the hemispherical, ordinary-looking building. But Raditz kept insisting on how useful it would be, which made Vegeta curious despite his skepticism.
"Everyone, I've kept you waiting long enough. Let's go in," Raditz said, approaching the gravity room first.
The others followed behind him.
Inside, the walls gleamed with a silvery metallic color. A central control system stood in the middle like a column supporting the roof, featuring various sophisticated adjustment modules. The floor was made of high-strength material. The empty room had no decorations or equipment—just a completely open space for training, with only four pieces of transparent glass around the perimeter.
The space was large enough to accommodate all of them, with separate changing rooms, bathrooms, and lounges on the side. The humidity, temperature, and air composition could all be adjusted through the central control panel. There were even small attack robots that could fly around the chamber.
These were all improvements Raditz had suggested based on his own vision, making it much more complete than ordinary gravity chambers. Although built in a hurry, the gravity device could generate up to 200 times Earth's gravity, which was more than enough for their current needs.
"This is the perfect training place you were talking about?" Vegeta looked around, his expression unimpressed.
Compared to Planet Vegeta's technology, Earth's technology seemed primitive—and they'd created this? Vegeta felt like he'd been deceived.
"That's right, this is it."
"Are you kidding me? This place isn't any better than training in the mountains!"
"Don't worry. Do you think all these devices are just for decoration?" Raditz smiled and strode to the central console. "Right now, we're in an environment with twice Earth's gravity—that's the standard setting. Next, let's try 10 times gravity, which is similar to Planet Vegeta's environment."
As he spoke, Raditz pressed Enter after inputting the number 10 into the system. The screen flickered twice before stabilizing. Suddenly, there was a slight vibration in the floor, accompanied by a "buzzing" sound that startled everyone. In the next second, the color of the room changed dramatically—the lights dimmed, and a dark red glow filled the entire space!
In the red light, the gravity quietly increased tenfold! Everyone who had been living on Earth for some time suddenly felt like they were back on Planet Vegeta, as if some force from the ground was grabbing their limbs and pulling them down.
"Amazing! It really works!" Goku exclaimed. "I'd actually thought about making something like this myself. This is great!"
"As long as you're in this room, you can achieve the same training effect as being on Planet Vegeta, which isn't bad at all."
"Hmph." Vegeta snorted coldly.
His arrogant expression seemed to say, "Is that all?"
"Next, let's try 15 times gravity." Raditz changed the number again, pressed the confirmation button, and after a brief delay, the vibration and "buzzing" sound returned as the gravity suddenly increased.
At the same time, the smart system automatically adjusted the air pressure, humidity, and other variables to create the optimal environment.
"Fifteen times gravity... this is getting challenging..." Krillin said with a strained smile, beads of sweat forming on his forehead and pouring down his face.
Yamcha was in even worse shape, clutching his face as he struggled to remain standing.
They hadn't been training lately, and their bodies had become too relaxed. Being suddenly crushed by 15 times gravity without any preparation was unsurprisingly difficult.
For the Saiyans, however, 15 times gravity was still easy. Vegeta even looked skeptical as he asked, "Can this really improve combat power?"
He crossed his arms over his chest, raising his eyebrows in disbelief.
Vegeta's expression provoked Raditz. You doubt it? Let me show you what high gravity really feels like!
"Everyone, step outside for a while. Just leave me and Vegeta alone. I'll give him a private demonstration first." Raditz smiled lightly, but there was an unmistakable authority in his tone.
Goku nodded and walked out first, followed by Gohan and Piccolo.
One by one, everyone left the chamber, though reluctantly. They pressed themselves against the glass windows to watch. The two Saiyans stood facing each other like gunslingers at high noon. Anyone who didn't know better would think they were about to fight.
Under 15 times gravity, both seemed completely relaxed. Raditz faced Vegeta and quietly reached for the control panel, entering 50.
Buzz~ Suddenly, the gravity increased rapidly. Raditz thought to himself, How does he like it now?
But then he realized his mistake—he was also in the gravity chamber! By the time he realized this, it was too late. It felt like a mountain had descended from the sky. His bones creaked, and his legs trembled slightly as he fought to remain standing.
Vegeta wasn't doing much better. His crossed arms fell to his sides at once, his posture shortened slightly, and he clenched his teeth as he endured.
"How is it?" Raditz asked deliberately.
"Hmph, it's a... a bit better than before... it's... nothing at all."
"Let's see who can..." Raditz said with a wave of his hand as he pressed the up button on the side of the input device. This was a touch sensor that could directly double the gravity without entering specific numbers.
Under 50 times gravity, the sensor's sensitivity was unpredictable, and the gravity multiplier immediately soared!
Both men's eyes widened, their faces turned ashen, and they held their breath, neither willing to admit defeat. At this moment, Raditz and Vegeta shared the same thought—neither would lose face. They fought against the rising gravity, their faces reddening, necks bulging, and eyes becoming bloodshot.
"If you can't... handle it... just say so... I..."
"I can... hold on..."
"You..."
"You..."
Eventually, they both lost the strength to speak. Their bodies were still standing, but their internal organs felt like they were about to explode under the soaring gravity. If it weren't for the ki energy protecting their bodies, they would have collapsed long ago.
The onlookers had no idea what the two were doing, but they saw the numbers on the monitor continuing to rise and began exclaiming in amazement.
"As expected of Raditz—it's already at 100 times gravity!"
"Vegeta is impressive too."
"Look at them standing still under such intense gravity. In Master Roshi's words, they have 'perfect stillness amid motion.'"
"Wait, the gravity has reached 150 times! Look at them, they're... they're falling! They're falling!"
"Help them!" Krillin yelled.
"Goku, cut the power!"
