CHAPTER 9: AN EARTH-DEMOLISHING FLAME, DAMAGE ROKU!
"Rumored, if mastered, will bring earth-shattering damage."
Shortly after their lunch break, they return to learning Roku.
Sora: "Next up, Damage Roku. What this Roku does is, depending on mastery, it can double, triple, quadruple, or even further multiply your current strength. It can only be embedded in limbs. We'll have Lyra demonstrate."
Lyra: "Everyone, please stand behind me." Akio: "Lift." He throws a gigantic boulder—the size of a house—towards Lyra. Blue flames start blazing out of her leg. She lunges forward, striking the boulder head-on. BOOM! Her kick connects, and moments later the boulder shatters into thousands of pieces, debris flying everywhere.
Akari: "Woah! Cool!" Shortly after, the blue flames vanish from Lyra's leg. Akari: "May I try?"
Sora: "I suggest starting with your fists first—legs are a bit more complicated." Akari nods.
He approaches a large chunk of debris from the earlier boulder. Taking a slow breath, blue flames begin to appear. Suddenly—they grow bigger and bigger, until they're about the size of a giraffe. Sora: "Woah there, Hoshizaki." Akari punches the rock with full force—BOOM! It explodes on contact, scattering billions of sand-sized fragments.
Everyone's eyes widen at the sight. Lyra: "As expected."
Kade and Santu try the same and also learn Damage Roku.
Sora: "Whew! Alright, next is my personal favorite. Static Roku. This Roku only works when fused with another Roku. Once placed, it stays suspended wherever you put it. For example: if you fuse Static with Damage Roku and suspend it in front of you—it'll stay there, hovering. Whatever it touches gets damaged, obviously. Let's give it a go. Lyra will demonstrate again."
On her left hand appears a white, crackling orb—Static Roku. She channels Counter Roku into her right hand. She fuses the two by clapping her hands together, creating Static Counter Roku. She places it in the air in front of her. Akio: "Lift." He throws a boulder towards the Static Roku. Without anyone touching it, the boulder is deflected on contact. Moments later, the suspended orb vanishes.
The trio attempts to recreate it—and they succeed.
