Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The False War God

Kenji stood in the dense forest of the Varis tribe, his breath heavy and his heart pounding hard. The dark night enveloped them, illuminated only by the faint moonlight filtering through the gaps in the tree leaves. Before him stood a large Orc man, his face marked with scars—signs of the harsh life in this territory. He was Varak, an elder leader of the Varis tribe who had long served as one of their greatest secret guardians.

Kenji looked at Varak with curiosity and a hint of caution. He had not come seeking friendship, but answers. Answers about the voice that had guided him all this time, granting him power and sometimes whispering confusing commands.

"I need to know," Kenji said quietly, his voice almost drowned out by the rustling wind. "Is it true what you said? That the War God who has been speaking to me… is not Grull'gor?"

Varak nodded slowly, his eyes radiating weariness and sorrow. "Yes, Kenji. What you believed to be the war god is actually a lie crafted by a dark entity far older and more evil than you can imagine."

Kenji swallowed hard, feeling a chill crawl down his spine. "Explain. I need to know who exactly has been whispering in my head all this time."

The Origin of the Dark Entity

Varak sighed deeply and began speaking with a heavy voice.

"Long ago, before Orc tribes like ours knew Grull'gor, there was an ancient entity called Morath. He was not a god, but an evil spirit thirsty for conflict and destruction. Morath is not something you can worship or converse with in the usual way. He is an entity that manipulates war and violence to feed on pain and death."

"When Orc civilization was still young, Morath infiltrated their beliefs. He twisted stories, creating the illusion that he was the War God who gave them strength to fight and survive. He whispered to leaders, sowed discord among tribes, and made us believe that war was divine destiny."

Kenji fell silent. Everything he had believed about his power, his purpose in life, seemed to crumble in an instant.

"So… all the voices I hear, all the commands I obey, they're not from Grull'gor?" Kenji asked, his voice trembling.

"No. Those are Morath's voices. An entity using you and other Orcs as pawns in his eternal war," Varak answered.

Manipulation of Power and Faith

Varak continued in a more serious tone. "Morath has never wanted to be destroyed. Every time Orc tribes go to war and spill blood, it gives him strength. He grows stronger with every cry of pain and every scream of death."

"What you think is your power? It's not a sacred gift. It's a chain that binds you to a never-ending war. The true War God is the greatest deception that has ever befallen our tribe."

Kenji felt a burning anger in his chest. "Then why do I still feel that power is real? Why can I feel it? If this is all a lie, then what does it all mean?"

"Because Morath creates that illusion to make you believe. He is a master liar, Kenji. He can make you feel power as if it is real, so you can't break free. But that's the real trap."

Doubt Eating Away at Faith

Kenji lowered his gaze to the mossy ground. Every belief that had been the foundation of his strength felt fragile. If not Grull'gor, then who? What meaning does the power running through his veins really have?

"So then, what should I do? If I don't serve the true god, should I give up this power?" Kenji's voice was soft, filled with doubt.

Varak looked at him deeply and said, "You must find your own truth, Kenji. I'm not saying you should discard your power. But you must be cautious and learn to distinguish which voice is Morath's and which truly comes from within you."

Awakening Consciousness

Slowly, Kenji began to understand that his journey with power was far from over. This was a new chapter — one where he must face bitter reality and seek the source of true strength.

"How can I tell the difference? How do I know what's real?" Kenji asked, his voice still filled with unrest.

"The answer lies only within your own heart, by rejecting illusions and demanding truth — not just from the voices in your head, but from your actions and choices."

Rejecting the False Destiny

Kenji took a deep breath, his eyes now glowing with newfound determination.

"I won't let myself be used as a tool by an evil entity. I refuse to be a pawn in this endless war."

Varak nodded. "That is the spirit we seek. The Varis tribe has long doubted Morath's existence, but the lie is so strong it's difficult to fight."

Kenji gazed at the night sky, now beginning to clear with a thin mist. In his heart, a new question grew larger than before. If not Morath who gave him power, then who truly wants to speak to him?

A Promise to Reveal the Truth

With firm resolve, Kenji raised his head and looked at Varak.

"I want to learn more from your tribe. I want to find a way to break this chain and free the Orcs from this grip of lies."

Varak smiled faintly and said, "Then you have chosen your path, Kenji. A path not easy, but the right one. Let me introduce you to the true teachings of the Varis tribe, long hidden from the world."

Kenji nodded. He knew this night was a turning point in his life. There was no room left for lies and deception. Only truth — and he was ready to bear any consequence to find it.

Under the increasingly dark sky, Kenji and Varak walked deeper into the Varis forest, toward an ancient sacred place hidden from the outside world. Kenji knew this journey would change everything—who he was, what his power meant, and what it truly meant to be an Orc and a warrior.

In his heart, one thing was certain: he would never again be a slave to the lies of the "False War God." Kenji would become something more—a liberator, a true warrior, and perhaps, a new hope for the entire Orc tribe.
