The robber pulled off his mask again and said,


"We'll hit the closest bank. It's nearby and lightly guarded."


I tilted my head. "Shouldn't we target one farther away? If we rob the nearest one, won't people assume it was someone nearby?"


The robber laughed. "Damn. You really are a robot, huh? That's exactly why we rob the nearest one. People'll assume no one's dumb enough to hit the closest target. So, they'll look further away first. At least, that's the hope... if we don't get caught."


I paused, then asked, "And if we do get caught?"


I stayed quiet for a moment before returning to my earlier question. "You said you'd answer me. Why do some humans steal while others don't?"


He leaned against the wall and exhaled through his nose. "Yeah. We steal for money—obvious, right? But it's not about greed. It's about hunger. Some of us go days without food. Some die. And when you're starving, the law doesn't feed you. As for the ones who don't steal... maybe they've got just enough. Or maybe they're just scared of getting locked up."


I tilted my head again. "Are you scared of being locked up?"


He laughed, but it was a bitter sound. "I'd be lying if I said no. But honestly? Jail's better than sleeping in the street. At least there, you get food. A bed. It's a win-win."


"I understand," I said. "Then let's start planning the heist."


After some time, the robber asked, "So... what now? How do we actually pull this off?"


"We'll enter through the building's vents," I replied.


"And the security?" he asked. "Cameras, guards?"


"There are many possibilities," I said. "We can create sound distractions—throw objects to draw them away. As for surveillance... I will hack into the system. Disable the lasers. Shut down the cameras."


He grinned. "Not bad, man. Alright. But what about the safe? You got any tricks for opening one of those?"


Answer: You are equipped with a built-in plasma laser capable of cutting through reinforced metal.


I turned back to the robber. "I have a plasma laser. I can open it."


His eyes widened. "You serious? Damn, this is gonna be the easiest heist ever. I knew breaking into this house was the best thing that ever happened to me. You're like a walking treasure chest."
