"Mam its time to be awake." The maid half yelled.
"Ugh. I am awake."
"Please sit up straight so that we can assist you."
I sigh as I straighten myself. I have gotten used to this routine by now. Two personal maids attend to me as I try staying up. Today had a more elaborate set up than usual. I had an extra headdress and a tighter corset. The light blue gown looks exquisitely made but all of this seemed tackey from afar. Aliea's wealth can never measure up to this place so instead of trying to make me look rich they should have tried a look which flattered me or my skin tone more. Instead I look ghastly against the pale blue and the headdress seemed to wear me.
I sighed as I leave my chambers. I hope I find a large enough hole to bury me and my dress.
The avenue for today was the palaces main garden. The air was filled with extravagance and richness. Just as I took a few steps into the main circle I got pulled aside by my brother.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to get married"
"What?" He asked agape.
"My so called foster parents wants me to bag the emperor."
"I get that but why are you here?"
"Because I need to meet my husband to seduce him." I say with a feminine voice.
"Do not call him that, in that voice. Besides do you even know why we are even gathered here?"
"No, I do not" I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious why one would hold such an event.
"Malgedon plans on uniting all the kingdoms of the east into becoming one factor which over rules all the kings. They plan on being an empire. Those kingdoms who do not agree with this is going to face a war with Malgedon. Since none of them are actually interested in such a thing, This banquet is held so that we can talk out the necessities for our kingdom.
That is the main objective. Some kingdoms do offer a pact through matrimony but none of them are low enough to offer their alliance only through matrimony."
That old geezer is more than what I bargained for, Is trying to kill himself. No, He is trying to put all this on me. He prolly thinks I am gonna kill myself again. now that I have a bigger audience He might as well make more money off of it.
"So? What am I supposed to do? You told me to act civil and composed, so this is what you get. Since I cant act out too, I might as well slave off my dignity."
"...fine" He sighs.
"Fine what?"
"Fine you can act out as you like. Just make sure you dont cause any major political disturbance." He says as he winks at me.
"Ew dont. Save your charms for another woman."
His ears twitch as he babbles about how many women want him.
"I'm kidding. Although it wouldn't be bad if you winked at the lady in yellow right behind you. She seems to like you."
This seemed to shut him off. He turned two shades red as he complains "Shut up".
Now this seems interesting. I stay at the furthest end away from the crowd as I search for the new emperor. Although it still is in progress I'm sure he will achieve it in no time. The power dynamics were always like this anyway. Aliea on the other hand Is gonna struggle. Sir Stefan's plan is actually a desperate measure but I can see where he comes from. Not that I plan on dying anytime soon, for now or maybe I should. At least I will be saving a kingdom while I'm at it.
"You seem sad milady, is the banquet not to your liking?" A voice called out.
A tall youth with a plastered smile bowed to greet me. He was the second person who sought after me throughout the whole night. I give my hand to him as his lips barely tough my glove. I took back my hand as soon as he stood up. His blond hair hid his pretty eyes and his perfectly tailored suit showed barely any amount of skin. His ears and lips slightly red from the cold adding color to his perfect skin.
He is just mytype. My heart races as I realize I took a second too long to reply.
"It certainly is interesting." I say looking right at him. Please take a hint.
"okay. I shall take my leave then."
"Wait, What about you? How do you like the banquet."
He pauses and turns to the other side. A small fountain where a sculpted woman stands in the center surrounded by thorns. It was a beautiful sculpture just like every other one on this palace.
"It is what it is. Unlike you, I find nothing in this banquet interesting. All the power hungry wolves lay out all their cards out as a bait hopping to be picked. Is that interesting?"
"That's on you. What I find interesting is how they seem to have no care when they have no cards to show. Take me for example. My cards are all out anyway, All I have to do is seduce the emperor and things will be far more interesting for me." I say half joking.
He chuckles as he looks at the statue. I never though I wanted to be a statue but the day has come now.
"Well that's pathetic, This whole thing is pathetic" He laughs aloud now, but now that the butterflies in my stomach cleared out I see him for what he is.
A condescending piece of trach who thinks he is above everything.
