Ding.A crisp sound echoed in the system as Vega's experience points suddenly jumped by more than a hundred.
"Did he hit hard enough just now to kill someone?" he muttered.
After dispelling the evil aura, Vega looked down at the man gripping his wrist. Though he was still bleeding, he was alive—barely.
Looking to the side, he noticed the hound lying dead.
"Forget it. I didn't really hold back when this started. If he's dead, so be it. The other two are still alive—enough for interrogation."
Vega was no saint who only fought in self-defense. He believed in revenge, and he repaid kindness in full.
The Ten elders had made him their enemy, and he hadn't forgotten. Now, Murphy had conveniently sent him two agents with intel on them—of course Vega had to take care of them. They might be goldmines with valuable information.
Without a second thought, Vega tossed the unconscious lizard-like creature in his hand toward the red-haired crimson viper, the two landing in a tangled heap.
Then he stepped aside, pulled out his phone, and made a call.
A moment later, Kevin, who had been waiting outside, entered with others to clean up the mess.
Vega took a seat in the courtyard, quietly watching the sky as he reflected on the battle and its aftermath.
First, he had gained a better understanding of the armors power.
Ordinary Nen users probably wouldn't be able to match him—his armor granted him incredible defense.
In this fight against three Nen users, and his enhanced body had taken all their attacks head-on.
Though he'd been struck multiple times, he remained uninjured—only slightly drained physically and mentally.
With the armor strengthened to +10, Vega could crush most Nen users with ease. Based on that, he suspected his current strength was already enough to go head-to-head with a member of the yin Beasts.
He'd soon confirm this from the two prisoners—surely, they had intel on the strength of the yin Beasts.
Second, with his enemies in Nacro City eliminated, he could now begin restructure the entire city. It would serve as a safe and secure base of operations.
Third, Vega was considering creating a new enhancement item—one that could boost physical abilities. This would help him train a team of powerful subordinates.
After all, if he wanted to sit at the same table as the Ten elders, the Pengellet family needed to expand—claim more territory, overcome more obstacles.
Right now, he was the only one in the family with Nen. Whenever an enemy Nen user appeared, he had to deal with them personally.
Sure, that earned him experience points—but Vega knew it wasn't practical. No real organization sends its leader into every battle.
He had thought about recruiting outside Nen users, but eventually gave up on the idea. They were unreliable, of average strength at best, and not truly loyal.
Instead, he decided it was better to cultivate his own people.
After studying the Hunter x Hunter world, Vega realized something important: Nen is the manipulation of life energy.
Aside from a few rare individuals who can awaken Nen naturally, most people require strong physical bodies just to sense that energy.
Only a few hundred out of tens of millions ever make it to the final stages of the Hunter Exam.
Even fewer pass—and sometimes no one does.
Those who pass are elite. Under a good teacher, they can learn Nen quickly.
Later in the Chimera Ant arc, the ants—whose physical bodies far surpassed humans—developed Nen rapidly, with power surging once they awakened.
Even Gon developed a terrifyingly strong ability after intense training.
But Chimera Ants skipped the whole process—instantly unlocking immense Nen power.
Neferpitou, one of the Ant King's Royal Guards, awakened Nen upon birth and immediately killed Kite, a powerful Hunter. Her aura alone rivaled that of Netero.
All this led Vega to a bold idea: what if he created an item that could artificially enhance the body?
If successful, not only would Vega himself become far stronger, but he could also create a loyal and powerful army.
He had no intention of remaining confined to Nacro City forever. He wanted to explore Meteor City, the Zoldyck Estate, Heaven's Arena...
And beyond all of that—the Dark Continent.
The Dark Continent was the most mysterious place in the Hunter x Hunter world. Humanity's continent was nothing more than an island in a lake compared to the vastness of that place.
How could he miss out on such a grand adventure?
But going there required massive preparation—supplies, intel, a proper guide.
And Vega had no intention of going alone.
He wanted to lead a squad of elite subordinates strong enough to survive the horrors of the Dark Continent.
Thanks to his system, he now had the means to create such warriors.
Once he finished refining his demonic body, the next phase of the plan would begin.
As Vega thought over this vision, footsteps echoed from beyond the courtyard walls.
Dozens of subordinates rushed in under Kevin's command.
As soon as they entered, they bowed and shouted in unison, "Greetings, young master!"
Vega waved a hand dismissively. "Get up."
Then he stood and turned to Kevin.
"Take these two back. Interrogate them thoroughly. Murphy's men should be carrying some very useful information."
"Extract everything."
Kevin nodded with a solemn expression. "Understood, master."
"Oh, and I'll be coming along," Vega added. "They're all Nen users—your average men won't be able to keep them in check."
