Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Sadako's Troubled Heart

At this moment, Christabella felt more disheartened than ever before. The once-dignified leader of a sect, who could easily decide the life and death of her followers, was now being persecuted by the very people she despised. Her emotions were a tangled mess.

She knelt on both knees.

"Dad… dy," Christabella said with great difficulty. Tears of humiliation streamed from the corners of her eyes. To think that she, a woman over a hundred years old, was calling a young man 'daddy.' The moment the word left her lips, her proud dignity shattered, replaced by a strange, unsettling feeling.

"Are you satisfied?" Christabella's face was ashen, her eyes empty.

"Oh, your eyes are like… a warm, moist place. It makes one feel so comfortable when they enter, they can't help but shiver with a hollow emptiness." Alan's cheeks flushed, and he didn't know why he was suddenly so shy.

Bruce and Oliver were already beyond exhausted. Brother, can you please use a normal metaphor? She just has empty eyes, but you're obviously implying something else entirely.

"Sorry," Alan said, his playful tone returning. "I'm not satisfied."

As soon as he finished speaking, he slashed the emblem of Flauros with the Blade of Redemption.

Ting…

With a crisp sound, a crack appeared on the surface of the badge. A dazzling light burst forth, forming a circle of ripples that radiated in all directions. A feeling of profound dread arose in the hearts of the believers. Without the protection of Flauros's power, Alessa could now break into the church and take their lives without restraint.

The next second, the ground in the center of the church collapsed, opening a passage to an unknown space. Hot flames shone out, and a cave full of magma appeared in the center of the church, looking like an entrance to Hell itself.

"Asshole! Why did you do that?" Christabella shrieked, demanding to know why he had destroyed the badge after she had already submitted to his humiliating demand. In truth, she knew very well that Alessa would kill her first. After all, she had used the inhumane torture of burning at the stake to try and steal Samael's power.

At that moment, thorny wires flew out of the cave, dancing like sentient snakes. A hospital bed was carried up by the wires. Lying on the bed was a woman wrapped in gauze, the scabs from her burns visible around her eyes.

At the same moment, on the far side of Silent Hill's cliff, Sadako looked up. She sensed that the power enveloping the town was weakening, and it could no longer prevent her from entering. In the blink of an eye, she vanished from the cliffside.

There was chaos in the church. The cultists screamed in terror and ran for their lives, hoping to stay away from Alessa.

Thump!

A rusty broadsword chopped down, splitting a believer in two from top to bottom. They suddenly saw a burly man, nearly three meters tall, wearing a triangular metal helmet and dragging a huge knife, blocking the door.

Pyramid Head, Alessa's guardian, one of the most feared beings in the hearts of the cultists.

At the same time, the thorny wires began their slaughter, hanging the former sinners alive in the air.

"We can't escape. There's a big guy blocking the door," Bruce observed. Pyramid Head seemed to feel no pain. Many of the cultists attacked him, but even as their sharp blades pierced his body, he remained indifferent. If they all attacked together, they might not be able to faze him in the slightest.

"Alan, think of something," Oliver said anxiously, already regarding Alan as their leader.

However, Alan's focus was on Christabella. "Wait for it," he said with great expectation. "She's going to be pierced through the lower body with thorn wire and die. It's going to be a very exciting scene."

"…"

As expected, two iron wires bound Christabella and lifted her into the air.

"Hahaha… you're just like your mother, a dirty bastard!" Christabella had clearly gone mad, spitting curses at Alessa.

Pfft…

The next second, thorn wire pierced through her body, and blood spurted out like a fountain.

"Oh yeah! That's the spot!" Seeing that Christabella was finally dealt with, Alan shouted excitedly. He was about to turn and show off to his companions when his vision went dark. A figure stood face to face with him.

"It's hard to see when you're so close. Let me zoom out a bit." Alan leaned back and saw a woman with disheveled hair, exuding an aura of invisible resentment.

At this moment, Bruce and Oliver were hiding far away. The sudden appearance of the woman made them feel a sense of crisis. This trip was like riding a roller coaster, with one thrilling twist after another. They had once been staunch materialists living in a prosperous city. Now, it seemed that materialism could be damned. This world was not scientific at all.

"Sadako!"

Just when Bruce and Oliver were worried about Alan, they saw a happy smile spread across his face as he took the ghost girl's hand. He held her hand and shook it, saying, "Baby, you really do have me in your heart. I'm so touched."

This scene made Bruce and Oliver rub their eyes in disbelief.

"The ghost girl is having an affair with Alan!"

"Is this considered love across species?"

They couldn't help but lament their own uselessness. Alan dared to flirt with a female ghost, while they had almost been sacrificed.

"Well… baby, are you blaming me for not speaking?" Alan put his head on Sadako's shoulder and said coquettishly, "I like to play on my phone when I go to the toilet, so I just put it on the toilet bowl. You won't be angry, will you?"

Your phone? That was a television bigger than your head.

Between the slits of her messy hair, Sadako's dead, lychee-like eyes loomed, as if accusing him: Okay, okay, you're just bullying me because I can't speak, right?

But the simple-minded Sadako couldn't resist the attack of his sweet words. Her hand, white and wrinkled from being soaked in water, gently stroked the back of Alan's head. What can I do? He calls me baby.

Alessa, having successfully killed her enemy, watched the man and ghost being affectionate. As the embodiment of the dark side, she couldn't stand the sight of any beautiful things. Whenever they appeared before her, she couldn't suppress the desire to destroy them.

"That's enough!" she shouted, and thorny wires flew around her.

"Baby, she's being mean to me. I'm so scared."

"Baby, I just want to die in your hands."

"Baby, you'll protect me before you kill me, right?"

With each sound of "baby," Sadako sank deeper. Having an admirer who was so sweet was simply too intoxicating. Suddenly, Sadako glared at Alessa. No one could hurt her little baby.

"Don't be like this," Alan said, holding Sadako's hand with concern. "It's not worth it for you to do this for me, Sadako."

"I'm just an insignificant psychopath in the eyes of others. I'm already very satisfied to have met you here."

After that, Alan put the Blade of Redemption in Sadako's hand, held it with both of his against her own neck, and sighed. "I promised I would die in your hands…"

Sadako's resolve crumbled.
