Chapter 16: Masquerade of Masks and Moans
---
🎭 SCENE I — The Invitation
POV: Yue Lin
The invitation arrived wrapped in midnight-blue silk, sealed in black wax stamped with a serpent.
> "A Masquerade. Midnight. The Moon Courtyard. Come clothed in your finest sins. Masks are not optional."
No sender. No crest. But the perfume—
Her breath caught.
> Qian Feng.
That scent. Like storm-drenched leather and heat. Like the memory of hands that never fumble.
She tucked the scroll into her corset and smiled.
> "They want to play? Let's dance in blood and silk."
---
💃 SCENE II — The Courtyard of Secrets
POV: Yue Lin
The Moon Courtyard pulsed with music. Strings of golden lanterns floated in the air, casting soft halos on bodies in motion.
Silks whispered. Jewels glistened. Masks smiled.
No titles. No politics. Only pleasure, anonymity, and danger.
She entered in red.
Not scarlet.
Not rose.
But a red soaked in sin — the kind that clings like a memory.
Her gown was almost nothing: sheer panels, gold chains kissing her waist, her mask a delicate serpent coiling around one eye.
Heads turned. Men stilled. And a few — dropped their drinks.
> "Who is she?"
"A concubine?"
"No… she walks like a queen."
She didn't just walk in. She owned the floor.
> System Alert:
"Stage Initiated: Dance of Desire. Seduce, Disarm, Dominate."

🩸 SCENE III — A Hand on Her Waist
POV: ???
She didn't see him approach.
But she felt him.
A hand — gloved in black leather — slid around her waist. Possessive. Confident. Dangerous.
> "You wear sin well," he whispered into her ear.
"You should see how I remove it," she whispered back.
They danced.
Not in rhythm with the music — but with the pull of lust and danger.
Every spin, every step, his body brushed hers like a threat. Like a promise.
> "Who are you?" she asked.
"The man who never removes his mask," he said.
Her smile sharpened.
> "Then I'll make you scream with it on."
They didn't kiss.
But they didn't need to.
The heat between them could burn dynasties.

👑 SCENE IV — The Crown Prince Watches
POV: Crown Prince (Rui Shen)
He stood on the upper balcony, drink untouched, jaw tight.
That gown. That smirk. That bastard with his hands on her—
> "She was mine," he muttered.
His advisor bowed behind him. "You severed the betrothal, Your Highness."
> "I didn't say she is mine," Rui Shen said. "I said she was. Past tense. That's what I intend to fix."
Below, she laughed — head tilted, throat bared like a challenge.
> I'll make her kneel, he thought. Even if it's over my grave.
---
🐍 SCENE V — A Kiss and a Blade
POV: Yue Lin
In a darkened alcove beneath the courtyard…
He kissed her.
Masked. Ruthless. Starved.
His mouth moved like he'd tasted her in dreams and finally awakened starving.
She pressed him to the stone wall.
> "Touch me again," she whispered, "and I might let you live."
He chuckled. "You'll let me die, and thank me for it."
She pulled back, lips swollen.
> "What do you want?"
"To watch you break them," he said.
"The princes? The court?"
"All of them. I want to watch you destroy this world in heels and silk."
She unsheathed a dagger from her thigh strap and placed it to his throat — gently.
> "You should be afraid."
"I am. Of how much I want you."
---
⚔️ SCENE VI — The Trap
POV: Liu Yan (Second Prince)
Somewhere in the banquet hall…
A noble collapsed. Foam at the mouth. Screaming.
Poison.
Chaos erupted.
Servants screamed. Guards ran in.
And through it all, Yue Lin stood still — untouched, unbothered, furious.
Liu Yan watched from his corner.
> "Let's see how the courtesan queen handles this," he whispered.
Until—
> "The poison was not in her goblet," said the Imperial Healer, Shen Mu.
"It was in mine."
All eyes turned.
Yue Lin walked forward.
> "Interesting," she said coldly. "Then someone's trying to frame me. Again."
She turned slowly, her voice a blade:
> "Whoever's playing this game... you're not ready."
System Alert:
🎯 "Trial Passed: Poison and Politics. +10 Strategy. +15 Seduction."

🩶 SCENE VII — Aftermath
POV: Yue Lin
Back in her chambers, she stood naked before the mirror. Not for vanity. For power.
Every bruise, every look, every kiss tonight — she'd used it.
She'd danced, seduced, survived, dominated.
And now she undid her mask slowly… the serpent's eye winking in the mirror.
> "Let them come," she said. "Let them bleed."
Outside, a figure watched from the rooftop.
Not Rui Shen. Not Qian Feng.
But her brother — General Yue Wuying — back in the shadows.
> "She's not the girl they hurt anymore," he whispered.
> "She's fire. And they'll all burn."
