As they walked into the luxurious hall, heads turned. Murmurs echoed like whispers in a storm.
Luca—always aloof, always alone—was now with a woman. And not just any woman. A radiant beauty in a red dress who held onto his arm like a fragile flame.
A man in an expensive tuxedo, one of Luca's old business allies, approached. "Luca!" he greeted warmly. "It's been long. And who is this stunning companion of yours?"
Luca, without hesitation, pulled Janet closer. "My wife. Janet."
Janet blinked.
Wife?
Her lips parted but no words came. She had been staying in his mansion, under his protection, but this… this was new. Her eyes dimmed.
The man smiled, taking her hand. "You look absolutely ravishing, madam." He leaned forward to kiss it—until Luca yanked her away, his jealousy veiled poorly behind his icy glare.
"Stay away from people you don't know," he muttered under his breath.
Janet nodded softly. She was used to people wanting something from her. But Luca… she still didn't know what he wanted.
