Chapter 58: Her Light in the Darkness
The night had fallen heavy and silent over the mansion. Luca stepped out of his car, tired and disappointed. His birthday — he had pushed it out of his mind all day, but deep down, he had hoped for one thing. One person.
Janet.
But all day, there was no sign of her.
He entered the house. It was completely dark.
Confused, he frowned.
"What the hell—?"
He shouted, "Why are the lights off?! Where the hell are the guards?!"
His voice echoed through the mansion.
Suddenly — click.
A warm, golden glow bloomed from the center of the living room.
And there she was.
Janet.
Dressed in a sultry black bodycon gown that clung to her curves like liquid velvet, a high slit running all the way up to her hip. Her long black hair was cascading down her back like a waterfall, loose and wild, her lips painted red, her eyes shining.
She stood there holding a cake with flickering candles, her voice soft and sweet.
🎵 "Happy Birthday to you…" 🎵
Luca's mouth parted in disbelief. The anger melted off his face. His heart skipped.
He took slow steps toward her, eyes never leaving hers.
She smiled as he reached.
"Make a wish," she whispered.
He closed his eyes.
"I wish to have you with me… forever."
He blew out the candles.
The room filled with silence, thick with something neither of them spoke aloud.
"You look…" he paused, voice husky, "…like a dream."
She looked down shyly.
But his eyes… they were still on her.
