Everyone went to get ready for the Family Reunion ceremony. After changing into fresh clothes, they joined their families, laughter and chatter echoing through the neighborhood. The mood was light, festive, and full of excitement—everyone except for two.
Shin and Zhen stayed behind, quietly watching from the house balcony as the others left.
"Everyone has now gone to the ceremony. Now tell me, what did you notice during the water battle? Who do you think used their powers during the water battle?" Zhen asked, his arms crossed as he leaned against the railing.
"I think Ren, Haru, MyungJin, and Jim," Shin replied, sitting on the railing with a thoughtful look. "Zhi looked normal all the time."
"So, what do you know about their powers—what do you think their powers could be?" Zhen asked, narrowing his eyes.
"In the first round, I was surprised after seeing Haru dodging easily. His power could be superhuman reflexes. Because he never had such awesome reflexes before," Shin said, thinking back to the swift movements. "While Ren was playing stealth, we barely could have seen him in the entire game. Maybe his stealth skills are improved or... something else."
"What about MyungJin and Jim?" Zhen asked, glancing sideways.
"I don't know much, but I'm sure they used their powers to win. You were also secretly spectating the game. Why won't you tell me what you noticed?" Shin asked, raising an eyebrow.
"They were sticking together like they knew each other's power. They were easily detecting Ren's hiding spot. I guess they both have the same powers," Zhen answered.
"What do you think it could be?" Shin asked curiously.
"I guess look-through-walls or X-ray eyes, maybe," Zhen replied with a shrug.
"But we are not sure about their powers," Shin said, rubbing his chin.
"Except Haru," Zhen said with a smirk.
"Yeah, he surely has superhuman reflexes," Shin agreed.
Meanwhile, at the Family Reunion ceremony…
The area was filled with distant relatives, laughter, and the smell of delicious food. Lights shimmered on the trees, and music played gently in the background. Everyone was mingling—but MyungJin and Jim slipped away from the crowd to sit on a bench nearby.
"Man, we lost the battle," Jim said, flopping onto the seat with a sigh.
"But now we know that others also have powers, and they are different from us," MyungJin replied calmly, arms folded.
"Yes, like Haru has superhuman reflexes," Jim nodded.
"And Ren maybe has invisibility or something else," MyungJin said, looking off into the crowd.
"But Shin and Zhi didn't use their powers," Jim added, narrowing his eyes.
"But they will use their powers during the city tournament of the water battle," MyungJin said with confidence.
"So will us," Jim replied with a smirk.
"Oh yeah," MyungJin grinned.
A little farther away, Haru was sitting alone at a quiet corner of the venue, his eyes narrowed as he replayed a moment in his head—when a stream of water passed straight through Ren's arm.
"How is it possible? My aim was precise. I'm sure I didn't miss the shot. He used his power at that moment..." Haru thought.
He stood up and made his way toward Ren, who was talking to his cousin.
"Ren, come with me," Haru said firmly.
"But the ceremony is about to start," Ren replied, raising an eyebrow.
"I want to talk to you about the water battle. Now come here quickly," Haru said, more serious this time.
"Alright, I'm coming," Ren said, brushing off his pants and following Haru to a quiet corner near the garden.
"Now tell me, what is your power?" Haru asked, arms crossed.
"What power?" Ren played dumb, giving a casual shrug.
"During the game, a stream of water went through your arm," Haru said directly.
"You probably missed the shot," Ren replied coolly.
"I can't miss any shot. That water stream went through your arm," Haru said, eyes locked on Ren.
"So your power is that you can't miss any shot?" Ren asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That's not my power. My power is that I can use 50 percent of my brain," Haru said.
"You're lying. Prove it," Ren said.
"What do I have to do to prove my power?" Haru asked.
"Tell me, what is the speed of light?" Ren challenged.
"299,792,458 meters per second," Haru answered instantly without blinking.
"I still don't believe that your power is 50 percent of brain usage," Ren said.
"Okay then, I'm going to close my eyes with this piece of clothing, and you will hit me," Haru proposed, pulling out a soft strip of cloth from his pocket.
"Agreed. But if I hit you, then I won't tell you about my power," Ren replied with a sly grin.
"Agreed," Haru said, tying the cloth over his eyes.
"Ready?" Ren asked, stepping into position.
"I'm always ready," Haru said calmly.
Ren stepped forward and swung a punch at Haru's chest—WHOOSH!—but Haru shifted just enough to avoid it. Again, Ren tried—SWISH!—another miss. Then a quick jab at the face—SWOOP!—but Haru smoothly tilted back.
Ren moved behind Haru and attempted a surprise kick to his face—FWUMP!
But Haru caught his leg mid-air. THUMP!
"Nice try, but it won't work on me," Haru said coolly, still blindfolded, releasing Ren's leg.
"Alright, now I believe it," Ren said, breathing out in awe.
"So now, what is your power? I guess it's invisibility," Haru asked, removing the blindfold.
"Yes, and I can pass through items as well," Ren replied.
"I knew it," Haru said, pointing a finger.
"But wait, if you had 50 percent of brain usage, then why didn't you dodge me during the water fight?" Ren asked.
"You were playing stealth because you had invisibility. You were attacking us while being invisible. I knew you were invisible while attacking me, but I let you attack so no one would suspect me," Haru explained.
"I guess you're not lying," Ren said, nodding.
"The ceremony is about to start," Haru said.
"Alright, let's talk about it later," Ren agreed.
They returned to the ceremony just as the music kicked up and relatives gathered in a circle for pictures and speeches. The rest of the evening passed in warmth and cheer.
After the ceremony, everyone headed back to the house. The doorbell rang.
"Looks like everyone has returned from the Family Reunion ceremony," Zhen said, stretching.
"I'll go open the door," Shin said.
He walked to the door and opened it. Everyone had returned, chatting and laughing as they came inside.
Thirty minutes passed, and now every family was beginning to go back to their own houses.
"We have to go now," Haru said to Ren, adjusting his hoodie.
"We will also leave to go back to the house soon," Ren replied.
"But we will meet again after two weeks," Haru said with a confident smile.
"For what?" Ren asked, puzzled.
"You don't know about it?" Haru replied, raising an eyebrow.
"What are you talking about?" Ren asked.
"There is a City tournament of water fight happening after two weeks. Your brother told me that," Haru explained.
"But he didn't tell me about that," Ren said in surprise.
"You should have asked him," Haru said with a smirk.
"Haru, come on!" Haru's father called from the car.
"Coming, Dad!" Haru shouted back.
He waved to Ren and walked away with his family. After a while, others also returned to their homes with their families.
