A circular drone hovered beside her, projecting the live feed from the arena to an upper-floor chamber for official recordkeeping.
Then her eyes caught movement.
Her gaze shifted slowly… and froze.
There, beside the boy, stood a creature she recognized—but not like this.
The Whisp was no ordinary being. It stood with a graceful poise, its lithe frame shimmering in a mix of cyan-blue and electric white. The ivory mane around its neck glowed slightly under the artificial lighting, and its golden eyes stared calmly at the instructor.
The woman's brow furrowed.
She instinctively reached for her Taming Codex, holding it up and letting the scanner sweep over the creature.

Her mouth opened slightly in disbelief.

Jimmy tapped the Codex pad and signed with one hand, "Teacher? Teacher?"
The woman snapped out of it.
"Ah, yes—sorry. That was... unexpected." She exhaled, placing her Codex back into her belt.
She took a few steps forward and offered a small bow. "I'm Lumi Oxbell, your test administrator. I'll be overseeing your theoretical and battle assessment."
Her tone was composed now, but her eyes kept darting back to the Whisp.
She smiled politely and said, "Before we begin the interview, can I ask what kind of Whisp that is?"
Jimmy smiled faintly and responded in a soft but firm voice, "Is this part of the interview?"
That caught her off-guard. Then she chuckled. "Fair enough. Yes, yes—it begins now."
Liam nodded in yes and made a snap.
She held her Codex forward and whispered, "Come, Linguqube."
Suddenly a whisp came, A small, levitating cube hums gently in the air, its metallic surfaces shimmering with green and violet hues. Across its sides scroll glowing glyphs, shifting constantly in real-time. Runes orbit slowly, responding to nearby speech. One side projects an expressive face—emojis, eye-blinks, or mouth shapes—depending on its emotion.
"This is Linguqube, a translator-class Whisp. He's fluent in over seventy dialects and psychic-synchronized language streams."
Jimmy turned to Luna, touching her head gently and whispering through their link.
"Translate for me, okay?"
Luna tilted her head, her large curved horns gleaming as she replied:
"Oon... Oon oon oonoon…"
Linguqube pulsed with soft violet light and began to relay in human voice.
"His name is Jimmy. He is from the Corsba Town Orphanage—sector 15L, 20N, near the Sea-Lane district. He is 15 years old. He has been mute from birth and recently lost his eyesight in an accident.
He normally communicates using sign language or writing, but now uses telepathy through his Whisp.
His Whisp—Luna—is his childhood companion. He awakened late, but naturally. His talent is 'Sense'."
Lumi stood silently for a moment, genuinely impressed.
"You've been through a lot, Jimmy," she said softly.
Jimmy nodded, his eyes calm.
She pulled out a tablet slate and began the official interview.

"Bulmacictus. Recovered from the Fendreach digsite. Partial Rock-Ice type with latent Crystal affinity."
Liam's eyebrows lifted. "You even know about Fendreach?"
Jimmy nodded.
Q4: "What does the Whisp Arcana classification 'Dual-Origin' mean?"
"A Whisp whose elemental core is formed from two parent domains instead of one. It usually results in hybrid abilities and unique passive traits."
Liam slowly lowered the slate. "Excellent. Most people your age wouldn't know that unless they've worked with research nexus."
Jimmy smiled faintly and rubbed Luna's head. She hummed with pride.
The Mystery of Luna
Liam finally said, "Now… I want to ask you something I have to mark under 'Field Observation.'"
She knelt gently near Luna and said, "I've reviewed many Ondirael entries—but yours… feels different. Can you tell me more about your Whisp?"
Jimmy leaned in slightly and gave Luna a nod.
Luna stepped forward, tail flicking slightly, and announced:
"My name is Ondirael, but Jimmy calls me Luna. I am a Water and Electric dual-element Whisp. I possess speed, conductivity, advanced empathy, and storm-pulse generation.
I was not born in the wild. I was... found. And I chose Jimmy."
Liam's expression softened.
She pulled out her Codex again. The species matched—but the identifier string had a flagged mutation tag.
