In the end, I didn't resist and simply watched as she fell asleep atop me.
Rolling my eyes at this, I went back to the Inventory slots and scrolled to the lower section.
[Enchanted Sword
- A sword used by the Church of Dama, strong enough to slice through steel and purify low-level evil spirits.
Requirements:
Strength: 15
Magic: 15
Agility: 15
Durability: 15
Constitution: 15
Mind: 15]
'This should be good enough if I ever encounter those monsters from earlier.' I muttered to myself and rejoiced after seeing the low requirements.
'I can work with that. It'll take maybe a week to reach the requirements or even just a few days.' I decided to start tomorrow.
For the rest of the night, I kept scrolling through my inventory, marking the items and artifacts that I could use if I worked on my stats in a few weeks.
I only stopped when I noticed the sunlight seeping through the gaps in the curtain.
At the same time, Tomoko, who was sound asleep on top of my chest finally started to stir awake.
I had already planned to surprise her the moment she opened her eyes.
However, before I could do so, the door to my room suddenly creaked open and my mom peeked inside.
"Ken-chan~ are you already awake? Oh…" I can see from her eyes that she was surprised to see me already awake.
"You're finally awa-" Only for Tomoko to suddenly emerge from the blanket, rubbing her eyes in the process.
"Good morning, mom~ yawn! Why are you in my room?~"
'Aren't you the one in my room!?' My lips quivered as I mentally yelled at her.
"Tomoko….What are you doing in your brother's room?" Tomo, their mother pointed at her and confusedly said.
"Hm? Onii-chan's room?" Tomoko, still in a haze, hummed confusedly before looking around until her gaze settled on me.
She then looked around again before going back to me.
She did it back and forth until her expression turned beet red, like a smashed tomato.
"Good morning, you pervert~" To add to the fuel, I flashed her a grin and greeted her while muttering the last few words to her ears turning them redder.
My years in my past life of having a little sister made me an expert when it comes to teasing a sibling.
I was tempted to further embarrass her, but unfortunately, mom interrupted us.
"You two. Kenshin just got back, Tomoko. Give him some time to rest. Anyways, I'm preparing dinner already, get ready both of you, me and your father have something to announce, okay?" With that being said, she closed the door, leaving us alone.
"….So what're you doing in my room?" I crossed my arms and asked her.
Although I already knew the answer behind it I wanted to see if she was brave enough to tell the truth.
"I-I just mistook your room for my room?"
"…Why do you sound so unsure?" My face twitched at hearing her.
"A-Anyways, I'm going now, bye." Without waiting for my response, she took herself and left the room in a hurry.
Bam!
I shook my head at her and decided to overlook her personality for now. Although it seemed weird that she had such thoughts about me but it's pretty normal for girls her age.
Hopefully, she'll overcome it soon.
Stretching my limbs after staying awake a whole night scrolling on my inventory like scrolling on social media reels, I decided to do a morning workout.
100 Push-ups, 100 Sit-ups, 100 squats, and 10-kilometer run outside.
I did the first three workouts in my room and postponed the kilometer run after listening to what my parents had to say.
Upon coming down, Tomoko was already there, sitting at the table along with our parents.
"What's going on?" I asked while taking a seat for myself.
Tomo looked at Kiko first and then at us.
"We have news for you two." Guessing from the smile on her face, I could guess it was a piece of good news.
"Your father just got a promotion and his company has transferred him to the main branch of the company. They'll be the ones to provide for our housing permanently for as long as your father works there." As soon as she finished her words, the expected gasps and smiles didn't appear.
Instead, Tomoko has her head bowed down, probably deep into thinking about what happened earlier, and as for me, I do feel happy for him but not that much.
How do I say this? Money has become negligible to me, especially after living in a world where magic can create money out of nothing.
So I just clapped my hands and congratulated my father in this world.
"That's why you two will also be transferring schools since we'll be moving to a different city." And this is where they finally got a reaction not from me, but from Tomoko.
"T-Transferring schools!?" Although her bangs almost cover her eyes, I can still see her eyes widening in surprise.
'Why does she sound more excited than surprised?' I pondered under my breath.
'N-New school. N-New friends. Everything will be new, that means I'll get a brand new start!' True to my guess, if I were to read her mind, I would discover the reason behind her excitement.
"Where is this place exactly?" I leaned forward and curiously asked.
"I think it's called Kuoh City, though the residents there prefer to call it the Kuoh Town." Listening to her words made me contemplate.
'Kuoh City. Kuoh Town. Never heard of it, definitely something that came out of an anime that I haven't heard of. After all, I don't think Japan back in my old world has a city called Kuoh.'
"H-How about the school?"
'Why are you raising your hand like a student?' I held back myself from laughing at how Tomoko meekly acted.
"Hear this, you two. The name of your new school is Kuoh Academy and it is one of the largest schools in the entire Japan! I heard it used to be an all-girls school but recently opened up for males also, so the two of you will be attending together."
"All-girls school?" Tomoko's eyes widened in surprise and she released a puff of smoke out of her nostrils.
'Are you a pervert?!' Seeing this made my lips twitch, not knowing what was becoming of my dear sister.
'I was right. Watching too many animes can cause you brain damage.' I muttered to myself, remembering how I used to insult my otaku friends who were obsessed with their animes and waifus.
And now my own sister is becoming one of them!
"So when are we leaving?" I asked.
"In a week from now. Until I settle the papers and your mom will settle transferring your schools." It was father who answered, still posing in his cool dad-crossed arms.
"So you guys still have some time to say goodbye to your friends and our neighbors." Mom softly touched her own cheek and silently wept.
'Yeah, as if I had any friends. Almost all of them are fakes.' Then my eyes went over my sister.
'I won't even make a comment about her.' I shook my head and proceeded to leave the dining room with an excuse of taking a fresh air outside.
When the trust is I'm just going for a little run.
Unlike others, I don't need to wear a jacket to fight the cold. I already have cold resistance in one of my passive abilities
Albeit it is nerfed due to my low stats. Especially my Constitution stats that refer to my body's resistance to temperatures, and things like that.
Running for 10 kilometers is no joke, especially for someone with an average physique like me, I could barely take a breather for every kilometer I ran.
However, that doesn't mean I didn't get any rewards for doing this.
Just doing the Push-ups, Pull-ups, and Sit-ups from earlier gave me a bunch of stat points.
[Strength +1]
[Agility +2]
[Constitution +2
[Endurance +2]
[Mind +1]
You might be thinking of how easy it is to increase your stats, right?
That's what I thought at first during my time back in Fantazio but as my stats went higher, so did its difficulty.
If all it takes is a few simple exercises to increase my stats, then it would require double of the same exercise to achieve the same results, and so on.
Ironically, my magic stat is currently the weakest but it is also the fastest and easiest in terms of growth.
Back in Fantazio, my magic stats are the highest to the point that even the so-called Grand-Archmages in that world pale in comparison.
'Spamming my spells and using my mana until near-emptiness should do the trick.' I muttered to myself while grabbing myself water to drink from a nearby vending machine.
For some reason, while drinking the bottle of water, a girl came out of nowhere to grab a drink from the same vending machine.
The reason why I was suddenly attracted to her was simply because of how plain and gloomy she looked, though, in my eyes, that didn't hide her beauty behind those long bangs of hers.
Although she quite resembles a familiar character from my past life.
What was her name? Sadako? The horror character woman that crawls out of a television.
As if sensing my stare, the can in her hand didn't even get to touch her lips when she turned her head towards me.
If others were to look at her right now, they would see her long loosed hair covering her eyes with only a few gaps showing her uncanny dark eyes staring directly at me, similar to how a witch looks at someone they consider their new target for a curse.
The boy from behind me who just got to the same vending machine to buy his can of juice suddenly shivered and when he saw the girl, fear was immediately plastered across his face.
"Hii!!~!!" Without wasting any more time, he burst out running with his tail tucked behind his back.
I watched him with amusement before turning back to the gloomy girl again, only to see her head lowered than before, her back hunched over.
I might not be an expert when it comes to women but I can definitely tell if someone is feeling sad.
So I did what I had to do.
***
She did it again, she scared someone off again because of how she looked.
Sawako could never guess why God gave her such an appearance, to strike fear in anyone she came in contact with.
'He must've run off too. That handsome man.' With a sigh, she was about to raise her head and leave the place when suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching her.
Since she was bowing and looking at the ground, she could see a pair of shoes standing in front of her.
Slowly lifting her head, Sawako saw something she'd never thought she'd be able to see in her entire lifetime.
A boy, someone that seemed to be her age, the same man she was referring to as handsome earlier was now standing in front of her with a soft smile on his face.
"Say, have someone ever told you that you look like Sadako?…" Hearing his words, Sawako turned gloomy once again.
Just as she was about to politely answer with a 'No' even though she's quite a fan of the Ring film despite being the movie's antagonist's lookalike, the man suddenly continued.
"…Because just one look at you and I'm Seven Days deep in love."
Sawako froze. The surroundings froze. Even the wind itself seemed to freeze as if it couldn't believe what is happening in front of it.
She, Sawako, who has been shunned and bullied because of a fictional horror character ever since she was a child, suddenly received a pick-up line from a boy her age.
***
While Sawako remained motionless, Ken was having an existential crisis in his mind.
'Ah fuck! Fuck! Fuck! That was cringe! I knew I shouldn't have trusted my instincts!'
Just as he was about to bow his head and apologize, Sawako finally made a move.
And what she did next made Ken's heart jump.
Sawako went over and grabbed his hand, clasping it against hers while staring directly at his eyes, her cheeks tinged with red.
"M-M-My name is Kuronuma Sawako! I-It's nice to meet you!"
Finally, time seemed to have resumed as the previously stale wind came back and coincidentally, pushed a gust of wind towards Sawako's face, blowing her bangs away and showing her twinkling deep-black eyes in its full glory.
"Beautiful…"
