Chapter 2 - Once upon a time... - 2

The twins walked over and stood in front of the vendor, who was busy grilling meat for another customer.

"Uncle, I'd like two of these, please," said Cel, still holding his brother's hand.

They didn't know the name of the thing this man was selling, but whatever it was...

The vendor looked in their direction and flinched for a moment at the color of their eyes.

As for their white hair, although it's rare on this continent, it's very common on the northern continent, especially a certain clan from the northern continent that has always caused a stir and curiosity in the world.

In the age of technology, it is not uncommon for even an ncle in a back alley of a poor street to recognize. White hair is considered normal, but red eyes have never really been seen except in monsters...

The customer who was standing in front of the vendor's cart also took a few careful steps away.

The vendor nodded and forced himself to smile, if it wasn't obvious that they were children from a wealthy family, he wouldn't hesitate to throw them out.

"What flavor do you young master want?"

"Um... I don't know. Do you know, Cass?"

"No, it's the first time I've seen this kind of food."

"Oh, shall we just ask for everything to be mixed?"

Cass sighed as he looked sadly at his brother and muttered

"Then go sleep in the hospital for a week like that one time... Uncle, give us the most flavorful thing you've got."

"Yes, young master, I'll do that right away." He handed over the order to the other customer who hurried to leave, leaving only the two of them in front of the cart.

They waited patiently while watching the vendor prepare the sandwiches, and after he finished, he handed it to them and Cel took out a 100 gold DL that made the vendor tremble and didn't really dare to take it.

"Take it, we don't have less than that."

"It's okay not to pay, young Master, I don't dare take it..."

Cel threw it on the cart and left along with Cass, leaving the trembling vendor behind.

As they walked down the street in silence, Cel began to eat, while Cass, after looking at the strange sandwich, didn't dare to put it in his mouth.

So he looked strangely at his twin as he ate the sandwich with relish.

The last time he fell into temptation and ate a plate from a regular restaurant, he immediately threw up and was sick for a few days because of it.

He didn't really understand how Cel could eat like that...

Surprisingly, Cel was clearly not satisfied with one sandwich, so he sighed and held out the sandwich to him

"Here, I'm not hungry."

"Oh, thanks, Cass." He took it and started eating it without a care in the world.

After walking for about half an hour, they arrived at a video game store.

"Shall we play?" Cel asked with his usual enthusiasm and Cass followed without objection

They each took a computer screen after paying and started playing the game. Cel was soon immersed in the game, making noises of triumph or disappointment, though his twin was quiet, as always.

because he simply wasn't having fun, the kind of person who doesn't enjoy something that he will pay for later with pain. He asked while playing quietly

- Cel, is it really okay to keep stealing?

- What? What did we steal?

Cel's eyes were full of surprise and shock at what Cass had said, as if he had accused him of a crime he hadn't committed

They are neither young nor ignorant, they are both eleven years old,

an age where they can both understand some aspects of life

Seeing the innocent look in Cel's eyes, Cass spoke in a whisper as if he was guilty of accusing his brother

- No, I mean taking money from Grandpa's office, you know... that way of saving or spending, we'll pay dearly for it.

- Aaahhhh!

Cel shouted, pretending to indulge in the game when his character in the game got beaten up, ignoring what Cass had told him.

No, he didn't.

In fact, every time he stole money from Grandpa's office or every time Cass was punished for it, his heart would flutter, because every time he made a scene, Cass was automatically convicted along with him, yet he had no other way to vent his anger.

What keeps him going is the fact that Cass doesn't resent him for his actions, but when he sees him sad because of the trouble he's caused, Cass gives him a few words of encouragement and makes fun of him, even though he knows he's hurting himself and his brother.

he knows how selfish he is.

He also knows, or maybe that's just how he feels.

Cassian doesn't really like him...

Even for him, his twin and closest person, he's always felt an invisible wall separating him from Cass.

Cass is smart, he's stupid.

Cass is calm and thoughtful, but he's nervous and impulsive.

Cass is sane and doesn't cause trouble, but he's a troublemaker.

Cass, peaceful and calm as a lake on a summer morning, and he is as chaotic and noisy as a winter night storm.

Even if he lets go of his inferiority complex and stops comparing himself to his brother, he's not like Cassian, he can't ignore the gaze of others.

So he knows how much he deceives himself when he considers himself alive.
