Chapter 1 - Change of Fate

Chapter 1:

MC One lived the kind of life most kids could only dream about. The house was massive, with marble floors, high ceilings, and a pool that sparkled under the morning sun. On this particular morning, he walked into the living room where both his parents sat—his mother scrolling through her phone, his father reading the news. Without even greeting them, he said, "Hey, I need ten grand. I'm going out with the guys later." His mother looked up with a soft smile and immediately began opening her banking app. "Of course, sweetheart," she said, already tapping in the numbers. His father's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. "Ten thousand? For what, snacks and gas?" he asked sharply. "Send him five hundred. That's more than enough." But the mother shook her head. "Let him enjoy himself. He's still young." The father sighed, lowering his paper. "You're spoiling him." But she just smiled as she hit "send," and MC One walked out of the house grinning, not even saying thank you.

The next morning, still groggy from staying out late, MC One stormed into his parents' bedroom. Without knocking, he nudged his mother awake and said, "I want a PS5. The latest edition." His father groaned and sat up. "That's the fourth one this month! What happened to the others?" But before he could finish his sentence, the mother sat up as well and said, "Don't worry, honey. I'll order it today." Once again, the father was silenced, shaking his head in disbelief. As MC One left the room, the father muttered, "At this rate, he'll never learn." But his wife just turned away, saying, "You call it spoiling—I call it love."

Meanwhile, across town in a neighborhood where streetlights flickered and windows were taped instead of replaced, MC Two woke up to the sight of his mother passed out on the living room floor. Empty bottles surrounded her, and a pungent mix of sweat and alcohol filled the room. This was the second time she hadn't made it to her bed this week. Sighing, he stepped over her carefully, not wanting to wake her. The apartment was small—just two rooms—but it held three siblings, and MC Two was the oldest. He opened the near-empty fridge, grabbed a stale piece of bread, and began waking his younger brother and sister. As he helped them get dressed and brushed their hair, the power cut out. No warning, just darkness. He didn't flinch. It wasn't the first time. Still, he made sure the kids were ready, gave them his own piece of bread to share, and walked them to school under a cloudy sky.

He arrived at school fifteen minutes late, his shoes soaked and his shirt slightly torn at the seam. As he entered the classroom, MC One looked up from his phone and smirked. "Look who finally made it. Did the rats let you out late today?" he said, loud enough for everyone to hear. Laughter rippled through the room. MC Two lowered his head and took his seat. The teacher stepped in just then and scolded MC One, assigning both of them to clean the classroom after school. "Maybe working together will teach you both something," she said. MC One rolled his eyes. "I'm not cleaning," he muttered as the bell rang. Sure enough, after school, MC One disappeared, and MC Two cleaned the entire classroom on his own.

After finishing, MC Two checked his cracked watch and cursed under his breath—he was late for work. He grabbed his bag and ran down the hallway. At the same time, MC One was coming back into school, having forgotten his bag in the locker room. As they crossed paths near the courtyard, rain began to pour suddenly—hard, heavy, and loud. Thunder cracked above them. A blinding flash of lightning struck a nearby metal fence. The world shook, and both boys were thrown to the ground, unconscious.

The next morning, MC Two awoke in a soft bed, surrounded by sleek furniture, glowing lights, and the soft hum of air conditioning. He sat up quickly and looked around in confusion. The sheets were silk. There was a tray of fresh breakfast next to the bed. He stumbled into the bathroom and froze. The face in the mirror wasn't his. It was MC One's. Across town, MC One woke up to screaming kids, the smell of old food, and a pounding headache. He was lying on a threadbare mattress on the floor. His body felt different—slimmer, weaker. A mirror in the corner confirmed his fear: he was in MC Two's body. And his life.

Neither boy understood how it had happened, but the reality quickly set in. They had swapped bodies. They had swapped lives.
