Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Amanda looked out of the window seeing all the houses that looked the same but with different stuff. Reminded her of variation traits she learned in 7th grade. "Look at all these cool houses you will love it here!" Her dad said, he was a bald ginger that was most recognizable for his long orange beard that he would shave once a month.

"I guess, but what if the kids are weird or creepy? You know how I feel about meeting new people!" Amanda said. "I'm sure they won't be bad. Just look at them" there were kids playing on their bicycles while some of the younger kids were poking at the dead animals they found on the side of the road.

"I mean I guess it won't be so bad." "That's the spirit! And plus, you got 10 days until school comes so you'll have plenty of time to make friends!" Her dad turned on the radio which tuned into the local news channel "Hello everybody it is August 31st, 1988. It is beautiful and sunny with no expected rainfall." Amanda was still looking out the window hoping to see something interesting.

"Also, used school supplies is being donated to local charities for the homeless kids so if you got a used school supply like a pencil box then donate it to your local charity!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot, I got to get school supplies for you. So, you'll have to watch your little brother, okay?" "Speaking of which what is he doing?" Amanda and her dad look behind their seats to see Jeremy asleep in the back row.

"Wow, look at him. And he was full of energy now he is asleep!" Amanda cracked a little smile looking at her little brother. "And I think we're almost there. I cannot wait to show you our new house!" the truck started to slow down as they were reaching their home.

Amanda closed her eyes ready to open them to see their new house, she smiles with excitement as she slowly opens her eyes. The house was a two-floor house and looked like the other two-floor houses. "Wow and its even on a hill!" Amanda cracked a small smile. "I know it looks fantastic! Let's park the truck and see what's inside." Her dad parked the truck and got out of the car and Amanda followed too.

Amanda opened the back door and unbuckled Jeremy's seatbelt and carried him into the house. Jeremy slowly woke up rubbing his eyes, and Amanda looked around, she saw the living room that was behind the kitchen. There was a hallway to the left that had one room on the right end and left by the start of this hallway was a flight of stairs. But next to the stairs in the hallway was a door that led to the basement.

Amanda was still carrying Jeremy as he slowly started to drift to sleep again. "This looks nice, let's check up the stairs" Her dad was looking around amazed.

They went up the flight of stairs to see a big empty room with two doors next to each other. At the farthest edge there was a hallway that had only one door at the end. They opened it and it was a big empty room. "For a growing girl this should be your room." "Thanks dad!" Amanda said smiling with Jeremy starting to actually wake up and look around. Amanda placed him down and he stood up still rubbing his eyes.

They opened the door left of the other door and it was a small space best for a storage closet. They opened the door next to the storage closet, and it was a medium-sized room where Jeremy could live. "Guess Jeremy will be sleeping here! Let's see the other rooms downstairs." They went downstairs and into the basement, where it was big but very dirty. "This might need some work" her dad said going back upstairs with Jeremy and Amanda.

They checked the other room at the right end, and it was a bathroom. "Hm there seems there might not be any other rooms. I might have to sleep on the couch. Guess it'll be one of those times. But let's just check the kitchen." They walked over to the kitchen to see a door at the end; Amanda opened it to see a small washing room with a rack on top of a washer and dryer.

And to their left was an empty room. "Guess I'll be sleeping here." Her dad smiling "Now we should move our stuff in. But I want you to make new friends, so I'll do all the moving. But you do have to bring your brother" Amanda sighed. "Alright" "Also because you're now going to be in 8th grade, this is for you." He gave her an orange wallet with 150$ bills in it. "OH MY GOD THANK YOU DAD!!!" "No problem honey. Anyways you and your brother's bike is at the back of the truck.

"Okay!" Amanda rushed to the truck with Jeremy running behind. Amanda gets their bikes. "Alright now I got to find a way to get rid of Jeremy." She thought silently. Then she heard a bike bell and a girl on her pink bike with petals biked up to her. "Hi!" She said. "Oh hi!" Amanda said surprised. "I'm Isabella. I saw you moving in and wanted to greet you." Isabella was smiling, she had 2 black buns, Black skin with a yellow shirt and blue overalls. "I notice that you have a little brother, follow me." She said biking up the hill. Amanda and Jeremy followed her and on the top was a huge grassland and there was one abandoned house in the middle.

"People pay me to babysit their children, so I'm usually busy. I'll babysit him today for free cause it's your first time." She said, smiling. "I insist, here is five dollars." She handed her a five-dollar bill from her wallet. "Thank you! I'll babysit him for free for two weeks now!" "Thank you, see you later." Amanda said smiling as Isabella led Jeremy inside the old house. "Also, my name is Amanda."
