Chapter 28 - Chapter27

Elara held his weak body with one arm and took out the jade token Emory had given her with the other, handing it to Morin.

"Emory sent me to rescue you. This is the identity token he snatched back from Bloodcloak Tower for you."

When he heard the name "Emory," Morin's thick lashes trembled, and his body tensed slightly.

When he saw the jade token that had been taken from him, Morin looked up at Elara, who was holding him. His body, already at its limit, finally relaxed and collapsed into her arms.

Elara tied the token to his waist, wrapped an arm around him, lifted him horizontally in her arms, and quickly left the dungeon, moving swiftly toward the exit of Bloodcloak Tower.

Not far from the dungeon, Shi San, Shi Qi, Wei San, and Wei Wu, who had been guarding the area, saw that the mission was complete and immediately returned to Elara's side. They silently protected her from all sides as they left.

Inside Bloodcloak Tower, most of the elite assassins had been lured away by the fake "Emory," and the remaining ones were still busy with their own tasks, unaware that the bottom level of the dungeon had already been thoroughly infiltrated.

Elara carried Morin and dashed out of Bloodcloak Tower, heading straight for the forested mountains outside Geranium Royal City.

But she hadn't flown far when she suddenly stopped, sighed softly, and handed the man in her arms to Shi Yi.

"Shi Yi, take everyone except Uno and circle around for a while. Make sure no one is following you, then return."

"Yes.. Your Majesty, please be careful. We'll return immediately after sending Young Master Morin back."

Shi Yi, like Uno, was a top-tier expert and had already sensed why Elara had stopped.

Reinforcements had arrived.

Though there were only three of them, their auras were incredibly strong, far more powerful than any of the assassins from Bloodcloak Tower they had dealt with before.

Shi Yi carried Morin and quickly left with the others.

Elara and Uno remained behind.

She turned to look at the three powerful auras rapidly approaching from the distance. From her medicine pouch, she took out a "tonic" made by Oswyn and gave a few pills to Uno. She grabbed a handful and popped them into her own mouth too.

"Uno, I'll handle the weakest one. Focus on the other two. Don't worry about me."

From a distance, Elara could already see the three pursuers approaching at an astonishing speed. Sure enough, they were all assassins from Bloodcloak Tower.

The identity tokens at their waists fluttered in the strong wind as they sped forward. In the swaying motion, the inscriptions on the tokens were faintly visible: "Heaven No. 15," "Heaven No. 9," and "Heaven No. 7."

They were assassins ranked in the top twenty of Bloodcloak Tower's Heaven List. Two of them were even within the top ten.

Elara exhaled softly, then took out two more pills from her pouch and placed them into Uno's and her own mouth.

She had suspected it wouldn't be that easy to infiltrate Bloodcloak Tower and rescue someone, but she hadn't expected reinforcements to arrive this quickly or that the ones coming would be far stronger than all the assassins stationed at the outpost.

Assassins ranked in the top ten of Bloodcloak Tower's Heaven List could even compete for the top spots among all assassins across the continent. They were truly the best of the best.

Fortunately, Uno had already been one of the strongest before cultivating the Divine Spirit Arcane Technique. In a one-on-one situation, he was evenly matched with any of the top ten assassins.

After cultivating the Divine Spirit Arcane Technique, Uno's already powerful inner force had surged dramatically. His primary techniques were also significantly enhanced. Even if he had to fight two of the top ten assassins at once, Elara wasn't too worried about him being at a disadvantage.

As for the assassin ranked fifteenth, Elara's current strength was about on par with the thirtieth rank of Bloodcloak Tower's Heaven List. Number fifteen was definitely far above her, but with the help of the Divine Spirit Arcane Technique, plus her arsenal of hidden weapons and poisons, she felt this was a chance.

A chance to test her limits and maybe even defeat the enemy.

The assassins were closing in fast.

When only a few dozen meters separated them from Elara and Uno, the three assassins each drew their weapons and charged straight at them.

There was no communication, nor was there any need for it.

Both sides were like two razor-sharp blades clashing, only one could survive the deadly confrontation.

Uno released a surge of overwhelming internal force like a vast ocean, forming an invisible, powerful net that wrapped around the assassin ranked ninth from Bloodcloak Tower, who had intended to strike Elara.

The sharp dagger in the arm of the assassin trembled slightly.

Both the ninth and the seventh-ranked assassins were instantly caught within Uno's energy field and could no longer move even a step toward Elara.

In the next moment, all three unleashed their full strength.

Three figures clashed in an instant, moving so fast they became a blur.

Amid the clash of metal, three intense forces collided like a raging hurricane.

The forest trembled violently, and wave after wave of powerful shockwaves radiated from the center.

Trees around them bent backward as if a storm had swept through.

Elara had no time to pay attention to Uno's battle.

The assassin ranked fifteenth had already infused his dagger with immense inner force, and it stabbed toward her like a deadly spike.

These three top-ranked killers from Bloodcloak Tower used elite daggers forged from bronze.

Though not iron, their sharpness and hardness were just as lethal, only heavier.

Elara drew her dagger and blocked the strike.

But just as she did, the assassin's second bronze dagger came at her throat from another direction, slicing through the air.

Elara instantly leapt back to dodge.

At the same time, she used her other hand to parry the incoming blade with her longsword.

But in that instant, the assassin's first dagger came back again from a cunning angle, aiming directly for the artery in her neck.

Elara couldn't help squinting her eyes.

In the chilling wind around her ears from the swift blade, her vision began to blur.

Her opponent's speed and strength were overwhelming.

Every attribute of the fifteenth-ranked assassin was nearly double hers.

In just two moves, she was already being pushed into a corner.

The sharp screech of clashing blades rang in her ears.

The dagger was about to pierce her neck.

Suddenly, the assassin's entire body shuddered and violently retreated as if sensing a deadly threat.

At that very instant, two silver needles, thin as hair, brushed past his throat and chest as he pulled back.

For the first time, the expressionless face of the fifteenth assassin showed a trace of shock.

And just as he was about to land, a new wave of deathly threat rippled through his body like an electric shock.

He suddenly looked down and realized that the spot where he was about to land had somehow become a nest of three vividly colored, highly venomous snakes.

Three venomous snakes, each incomparably beautiful, were about to hit the ground. In an instant, they opened their poisonous fangs and coiled their bodies, ready to spring toward him for a few fierce bites.

Tianzi Fifteen's originally stable figure suddenly staggered. He had to use almost all his internal strength to forcibly borrow strength from the air and twist his landing posture to avoid the brightly colored venomous tongues.

But just as he adjusted his body, Elara, who had already recovered, once again lunged at him with a dagger and a longsword.

In that moment, the situation completely flipped from him attacking and her defending.

Elara's dagger and longsword were both taught by the two strongest people from Plumera. With the added power of the "Divine Spirit Mystic Technique," in terms of technique alone, there were few in this world who could match her if internal strength wasn't counted.

After the rhythm of Tianzi Fifteen's attack was disrupted by a series of accidents, Elara seized the gap and instantly launched a lightning-fast counterattack.

However, Tianzi Fifteen was still Tianzi Fifteen. Despite her gaining the upper hand briefly, his attributes and internal strength were nearly double hers. After the initial surprise, he quickly regained his posture.

Several hidden weapons flew from his hand with sharp "swish swish swish" sounds, instantly cutting through the necks of the venomous snakes still trying to bite him.

The hidden weapons in Elara's earrings were also fired again, but he quickly figured them out.

When more poisoned silver needles came his way, they could no longer hurt him at all. They didn't even disrupt his rhythm anymore.

The brief offensive advantage Elara had gained with the snakes and hidden weapons quickly disappeared as Tianzi Fifteen adapted and countered.

Once the offense and defense flipped again and Tianzi Fifteen regained control of the rhythm, he seemed to fear Elara would pull out some unexpected move again. So his speed, strength, and everything else suddenly surged to a whole new level.

He wanted to kill this woman as quickly as possible, who had only half his strength but nearly managed to strike back just now.

The situation flipped again.

Elara returned to her original state of being passively on the defensive, pressed by his attacks.

Tianzi Fifteen was already much faster and stronger than her, and now with this new surge, every aspect of him became overwhelming.

Every blow she blocked made her hands go numb and sting from the force. His speed grew even faster, so fast that Elara could hardly keep up with dodging and blocking.

Her dress began to be stained with blood under the fierce and rapid attacks.

Pain came from wounds all over her body.

This was the first time since she arrived in this world that she got hurt in a real life-or-death fight.

But Elara showed no panic at all. Instead, a growing excitement began to rise in her heart.
