Chapter 11 - Sweet Pancakes and Cakes

Orange skies were now over the fields of wheat. The evening winds blew into the doctor's house carrying the various smells of medicine, blood and food across the village. The whole crew was enjoying a nice dinner complemented with sweets and confectionaries. They all sat in their beds eating their meals while a thousand curious eyes watched them.

"These pancakes are so good! Who made these?" Exclaimed Ehma.

"A mother who likes to mix hazelnuts in the batter. Many of the village people donated these sweets to thank you." Explained Suki.

Ehma had just finished her plate of pancakes before asking for another serving. Migs followed as another stack of pancakes dropped onto their plates. Suki and the doctor laughed at the jolly crew. Who knew that these fighters would show such joy right after a battle.

"So. What are ya gonna do about the wrecks?" Asked Migs as he stuffs another pancake into his face.

"Probably scrap it and send it to the manufacturing district." Replied the doctor, "Please rest here for a few days while your injuries heal. It's the least we can do for your bravery in defending the village."

"Actually," Migs blurted, "You don't happen to have a large tank in reserve do ya? Our old one's a heap o metal thanks to those guys."

"Hmm," Thought the doctor. "I believe I know a friend who collects abandoned wrecks and restores them for other uses. I'll pay him a visit while all of you rest up."

Kaze approached John and Ehma who were still sitting in their beds.

"Thank you for assisting me, I don't know how I can thank you." He said graciously.

"Its us who should be thanking you, swordsman. We would probably be dead if it weren't for yours and your friend's generosity."

"And we got those unta-munchers back for what they did. Haha!" Laughed Ehma. She took a moment to settle before remembering the loss of her two comrades. "If only we were stronger, we could have fought them off even after they surprised us."

"I know their dishonourable tactics all too well," commented Kaze.
