Chapter 1 - Last Love

*LAST LOVE*

*Chapter 1: The Unexpected Encounter*

In the bustling streets of Lagos, Nigeria, where the air was thick with the scent of suya and the sounds of afrobeats filled the air, three individuals lived parallel lives, unaware of the fate that awaited them. Their stories would soon intertwine in a complex web of love, loyalty, and heartbreak.

Nneoma "Nne" Okoro, a 25-year-old graphic designer, had given up on love after a string of failed relationships. She focused on her career and spent her free time exploring the city with her best friend, Ada. Nne's life was a perfect blend of creativity, friendship, and solitude.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Chinedu "Ndu" Okoro, Nne's cousin, had just returned to Nigeria after spending years abroad. A successful businessman, Ndu was charming and confident, with a quick wit and a captivating smile. He had a secret: he was in love with his cousin's best friend, Ada.

Ada Echezona, 26, was a free-spirited artist, known for her vibrant paintings and infectious laughter. She had been friends with Nne since childhood, and Ndu had always admired her from afar. Ada's life was a kaleidoscope of colors, music, and emotions.

One fateful evening, Nne, Ndu, and Ada found themselves at the same rooftop party, overlooking the glittering Lagos skyline. The air was electric, and the music pulsed through their veins. As they sipped their drinks and chatted, Nne felt an inexplicable connection to Ndu.

As the night wore on, Nne and Ndu shared a moment of profound connection. But just as things were getting interesting, Nne's phone rang. She excused herself to answer the call, and when she returned, her face was pale.

"What's wrong?" Ndu asked, concern etched on his face.

Nne hesitated. "It's my mom. She needs me to come home right away. Something about my dad's health."

Ndu's expression turned serious. "Let's go. I'll drive you home."

As they said their goodbyes, Ada whispered to Nne, "I'll come with you. We can talk about this later."

But as they walked out of the party, Nne stumbled, and Ndu caught her. Their eyes locked, and for a moment, time stood still.

As Nne looked up at Ndu, she felt a spark of electricity. But just as she was about to say something, a figure appeared in the shadows, watching them with an intense gaze. Nne's heart skipped a beat as she wondered who it could be...

*Chapter 2: The Web of Emotions*

Nne, Ndu, and Ada navigated the complex web of emotions that had begun to form between them. Ndu struggled to define his feelings, torn between his growing connection with Nne and his long-held admiration for Ada.

As they spent more time together, Nne found herself falling for Ndu's charms. But Ada's presence complicated things, and Nne wasn't sure if she was ready to open up to Ndu, considering their relationship as cousins.

One evening, as they sat on the beach, watching the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, Nne opened up to Ndu about her past heartbreaks.

Ndu listened intently, his eyes filled with empathy and understanding. "You're strong, Nne. You'll get through this."

But just as Nne was starting to feel comfortable around Ndu, Ada dropped a bombshell.

"Ada, what's going on?" Nne asked, noticing Ada's distant behavior.

Ada hesitated. "I don't know, Nne. I just feel like I'm losing you to Ndu."

Nne's heart sank. "Ada, that's not true. You're my best friend."

But Ada's words lingered, and Nne couldn't help but wonder if she was indeed losing her friend to Ndu.

As they sat there, watching the sun dip below the horizon, Ndu's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, and his expression turned serious. "I need to go," he said, getting up abruptly. "Something's come up..."

*Chapter 3: The Complications of Love*

Ndu's sudden departure left Nne and Ada feeling confused and concerned. What could have happened?

As they waited for Ndu to return, Ada couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She turned to Nne, "What's going on, Nne? Why did Ndu leave so suddenly?"

Nne shrugged. "I don't know, Ada. But I think it's more than just business."

Ada's mind was racing with possibilities. What could Ndu be hiding? Was it something about his past? Something about his life? his business dealings?

As they sat there, the tension between them grew thicker. Nne couldn't help but wonder if she had misread Ndu's intentions. Was he truly interested in her, or was there something else going on?

Nne, also sensing Ada's unease, reached out and took her hand. "Hey, let's not jump to conclusions. We'll talk to Ndu when he gets back, and everything will be fine."

But Ada's doubts lingered. She couldn't shake off the feeling that Ndu was hiding something from her.

Just as they were about to leave, Ndu's car pulled up. He stepped out, looking more serious than before.

"Ndu, what's going on?" Nne asked, concern etched on her face.

Ndu hesitated, looking around nervously. "I need to talk to you both. Let's go inside."

As they entered the house, Nne's heart was racing with anticipation. What was Ndu going to say?

Ndu took a deep breath, his eyes locked on Nne and Ada. "There's something I need to tell you both. Something that could change everything... But before I do, I need to know if you're both ready for the truth."

Nne and Ada exchanged a nervous glance. What could Ndu possibly reveal? Was it something that would bring them closer together or tear them apart? The anticipation hung in the air, leaving them both wondering what would happen next...

*Chapter 4: The Revelation*

Nne and Ada nodded, their hearts racing with anticipation. What could Ndu possibly reveal?

Ndu took a deep breath, his eyes locked on Nne and Ada. "I have a past, one that I've kept hidden from both of you. But I think it's time I told you the truth."

Nne's mind was racing with possibilities. What could Ndu's past be? Was it something that would make her question everything she thought she knew about him?

As Ndu began to speak, his words poured out like a dam had burst. "I was involved with someone, someone who hurt me deeply. I thought I was over it, but I realize now that I've been running from my feelings for a long time."

Nne's heart went out to Ndu. She could see the pain in his eyes, and she knew that he was telling the truth.

But just as Nne was about to respond, Ada's phone rang. She answered, and her expression turned pale.

"Ada, what's wrong?" Nne asked, concern etched on her face.

Ada hesitated. "It's my mom. She's in the hospital. I need to go."

Nne's heart sank. "We'll go with you."

But Ndu's expression turned serious. "I'll go with Ada. You stay here, Nne. We don't know what's going on, and I don't want you to get hurt."

Nne's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean? Why would I get hurt?"

Ndu's eyes locked on hers, and for a moment, time stood still. "Because, Nne, there's something I haven't told you. Something that could put you in danger..."

*Chapter 5: The Hospital*

Ada and Ndu rushed to the hospital, their hearts racing with worry. What had happened to Ada's mom?

As they arrived at the hospital, Ada's anxiety was palpable. Ndu took her hand, offering what little comfort he could.

The doctor met them in the hallway, his expression somber. "Ada, your mom's condition is critical. We need to operate immediately."

Ada's eyes welled up with tears. "Please, save her."

Ndu's grip on her hand tightened. "We'll get through this, Ada. We'll support you every step of the way."

As they waited for the surgery to begin, Nne's texts flooded Ada's phone. "How's your mom? What's going on?"

Ada's heart swelled with gratitude towards her friend. But she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.

Just as the doctor was about to take Ada's mom into surgery, a figure appeared in the hallway. A figure Ada hadn't seen in years. A figure who seemed to have a deep connection to Ndu...

*Chapter 6: The Unexpected Guest*

The figure's presence sent a shiver down Ada's spine. She hadn't seen him in years, and the memories came flooding back.

"Ada, what's going on?" Ndu asked, noticing her reaction.

Ada's eyes locked on the figure, her voice barely above a whisper. "That's someone from my past. Someone I thought I'd never see again."

Ndu's expression turned serious. "Who is he?"

Ada hesitated, unsure of how to explain. "His name is Obinna. We were...involved, I guess you could say. But it ended badly."

Obinna's eyes locked on Ada, and he walked towards her. "Ada, it's been a long time."

Ada's heart racing, she took a step back. "Obinna, what are you doing here?"

Obinna's gaze drifted to Ndu. "I've been looking for you, Ada. And I see you're still surrounded by people who care about you."

Ndu's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Obinna?"

Obinna's smile was cold. "I want to talk to Ada. Alone."

Ada's instincts screamed at her to refuse, but a part of her wanted to know what Obinna wanted.

"Fine," Ada said, her voice firm. "Let's talk."

As Ada followed Obinna out of the hospital room, Ndu's eyes followed them, his expression a mix of concern and suspicion. What was Obinna's true intention?

*Chapter 7: The Dark Secret*

Ada's heart pounded as she walked with Obinna to a quiet corner of the hospital. What did he want after all these years?

Obinna's eyes locked on hers, his gaze intense. "Ada, I've been watching you from afar. I've seen the way you and Ndu interact. I know about Nne."

Ada's instincts screamed at her to be cautious. "What about Nne?"

Obinna's smile was cold. "I know Ndu's secret. The one he's been keeping from both of you. And I'm willing to reveal it to you, Ada. But you have to do something for me in return..."

Ada's eyes widened in shock as Obinna's words hung in the air. What secret could Ndu be keeping? And what did Obinna want Ada to do in return? The anticipation was killing her...

Ada's voice was barely above a whisper. "What do you want me to do, Obinna?"

Obinna's eyes gleamed with a sinister light. "I want you to help me bring Ndu down. And in return, I'll reveal the truth about his past...and the reason why he's been hiding it from you and Nne."

The darkness closed in around Ada, and she felt like she was trapped in a web of secrets and lies. Why did all these things happen today of all days?

What would she do next?
