Chapter 32: Bai Yue, Alert, Exposed Her Identity

"Auntie, what's wrong?"

Seeing Long Haochen's expression suddenly darken, Lin Ze asked subconsciously.

After all, the purpose of coming here was to bring Long Haochen and Her Highness Bai Yue back to the demon clan.

More importantly, the Demon God Emperor Feng Xiu had specifically emphasized that Her Highness Bai Yue's "lust" for human men must be devoured.

If something happened to her, both he and Sidi would have trouble explaining.

Hearing the question, Long Haochen subconsciously tightened his grip on the bottle in his hand. He forced a smile and replied, "It's nothing. Mom is just a little weak—nothing serious."

"Let's go."

It was then that Lin Ze noticed the blue glass bottle in Long Haochen's hand. Inside, a crystal-clear liquid shimmered faintly.

Since Long Haochen didn't want to say more, Lin Ze didn't press. After all, he was going to visit their home—he'd find out sooner or later.

---

Long Haochen's house wasn't in Odin Town proper, but located on a remote hillside.

They crossed a river and climbed for nearly half an hour before arriving.

But the scene that unfolded before Lin Ze was surprisingly beautiful—stretching before them was a field of flowers, and in the distance, the lights of Odin Town glittered against the darkness.

Night had fallen, and the entire town was aglow, casting a quiet charm over the silent hill.

"Lin Ze, we're here. That's my house." Long Haochen pointed to a wooden cabin beyond the flower field.

The house, though simple, held a kind of warmth. However, it was still dark.

Just then, a soft glow appeared in one of the windows.

A woman stepped out, holding a candleholder—tall and slender, dressed in a wrinkled white gown, her complexion pale.

The breeze stirred, and she shrank into herself slightly from the cold.

Even so, her beauty was undeniable. Her gentle and elegant bearing gave her a serene, maternal grace.

Seeing her, Long Haochen's face lit up. "Mom~!"

Then, as if remembering Lin Ze was beside him, he quickly turned to say, "Lin Ze, that's my mother. Come on, I'll introduce you."

The moment they approached, Long Haochen rushed into Bai Yue's arms.

Bai Yue smiled softly and stroked his hair with a gentle hand.

Lin Ze didn't interrupt. He simply watched.

This was perhaps the first time he had seen such genuine motherly affection—pure, strong, and unconditional.

He could feel it.

"Mom, I brought a friend home today. He'll stay with us tonight," Long Haochen said, looking up.

Bai Yue glanced toward Lin Ze.

Meeting her gaze, Lin Ze politely said, "Auntie, I'm sorry to intrude. My name is Lin Ze."

"You're very welcome," Bai Yue said with a gentle smile. "You're the first friend Haochen has ever brought home. I'm happy you came."

"Come in, I'll prepare dinner."

"I'll make your medicine," Long Haochen added, breaking away and heading toward the kitchen.

Now Bai Yue and Lin Ze were alone.

Noticing Lin Ze hesitating outside the doorway, Bai Yue stepped forward and gently touched his head—just as she had done with Long Haochen.

Her eyes were soft, kind. "Little friend Lin Ze, why haven't I heard Haochen mention you before? Are you a new friend of his?"

Her voice was gentle, almost musical. Lin Ze found himself momentarily dazed.

So gentle… far gentler than I imagined.

It was a warmth he had never experienced.

When Lin Ze didn't respond for a while, Bai Yue chuckled and said softly, "It's getting late… Will your parents worry if you don't go home?"

"…Parents?" Lin Ze murmured.

"Yes. I'm happy you're here, but it wouldn't be good to worry your family."

Lin Ze shook his head. "I don't have any."

The smile on Bai Yue's face froze slightly.

Her gaze softened even more. "I'm sorry… I didn't know…"

"It's alright. I'm used to it," Lin Ze said, wearing a faint smile.

That smile—one that pretended to be strong—made Bai Yue feel a pang in her heart.

Just as she was about to offer some comforting words, a cold wind swept by.

Already frail, Bai Yue couldn't help but tremble.

Lin Ze immediately stepped forward to support her. "Auntie, let me help you inside."

Bai Yue nodded—but then, the corner of her eye caught a glimpse of Lin Ze's fingers.

Her expression changed slightly.

After entering the house, her tone shifted. "You… really don't have parents?"

Lin Ze paused. He could feel something in Bai Yue's lust had turned cold and alert.

"…I really don't. I've been raised by my elder sister since I was a child."

"Elder sister? Then what's your relationship with her?"

"She's my…" Lin Ze assumed Bai Yue meant Sidi, and was about to casually say she was family. But then he recalled Sidi's actions and hesitated. After a brief pause, he answered blandly, "She's my sister."

"Sister?" Bai Yue blinked. She realized she hadn't made her question clear. Just as she was about to ask about the ring on Lin Ze's finger—

A voice interrupted.

"Lin Ze, stay with Long Haochen. I'll speak with Her Highness Bai Yue."

As the voice faded, Sidi walked through the door.

Lin Ze wasn't surprised. After all, they had come to Odin Town together. Sidi had just been hiding because of her identity.

Seeing Bai Yue's pale face, Lin Ze explained quickly, "Don't worry, Your Highness Bai Yue. I won't harm Long Haochen."

"You should talk with my sister."

"…Have you told Haochen who I am?" Bai Yue asked quietly.

"No," Lin Ze replied.

Seeing she had no more questions, Lin Ze left for the kitchen.

The moment he stepped in, he saw Long Haochen pouring the liquid from that blue bottle into the soup.

"…Long Haochen, what are you doing?" Lin Ze asked.

Startled, Long Haochen nearly dropped the bottle.

But upon seeing Lin Ze, he relaxed.

"Oh—it's a culture medium."
