Chapter 1 - Awakening

"Urgh! My head…" Izu groaned as he opened his eyes. He may have spent another night learning anything and everything. It was a routine by now, every day, he would get hyperfixated on a random topic and learn about it till he fell asleep exhausted. Chemistry, Biology, Japanese, mangaka, all topics he had had an obsession over, many lasting weeks or months. He would've been the best student at college, if he weren't always so tired thanks to his late night research. He knew so much yet in his exhaustion, he couldn't utilise any of it. He rubbed his eyes. Why was it so bright? Hadn't he closed the shutters before going to bed? And… why did it smell like seasalt?

His eyes shot open and he found himself sitting on an old beach chair, looking over the ocean.

"The fuck? Is this a dream?", he slapped himself and no, he still felt pain, "if this is not a dream then what is going on?"

Izu looked around once more, finding a letter sitting where he had sat just moments before. With shaking hands he picked the letter up, his mind racing to come to a consensus and finding none.

'Hello Zawa Daniel Izu, or should I say Zawa D. Izu? Hehehe

Anyways, I am a god of reincarnation, only I operate a little differently from most. I experienced that people who went through death tend to be a bit traumatised, prohibiting them from fully enjoying their new life. So, I started using 'chose your own adventure' forms and scattering them through the internet, well hidden of course. Only few find my forms and fewer yet actually fill them out. At 2:34 in the morning, you completed one of my surveys.

Here is what you have chosen:

World: One piece

Starting location: east blue

Power: Overhaul quirk(mha)

Potential: high

Difficulty: standard

Good luck on your journey!

Signed,

The watcher'

"Reincarnation? Did I really fill out some survey in my last binge? What did I fixate on yesterday again? Doesn't matter, I have to see whether this is true…" he placed his hand on the beach chair and, almost as if it was instinct, he dismantled it, leaving behind only dust. Okay, this was real, now let's see whether he can reassemble things too… he placed his hand on the dust and supplied his mind with the structure, the material, all of it. The dust reformed but it was a bit off, the color wasn't right, it was a bit too dense but not too bad for his first attempt.

He spent the next hour or so disassembled and reassembling the chair, getting better and better with each try. He didn't even have to touch it a second time. One touch was enough to disassemble and reassemble it. The info of how to do it just came into his head. Like a small trickle of info instead of a floodwave. When he was proficient in that, he moved onto the plants in the forest of the island. The first few attempts were Catastrophic, turning alive trees into dead lumber in the shape of a tree but as he worked, he got better and better at recreating living cells.

His stomach growled. What to do? He couldn't hunt and he didn't know whether the plants were edible… that's when an idea hit him. He couldn't just return disassembled things to their original state, he also could make something new. He knew the makeup of apples and other fruits quite well, thanks to a hyperfixation a few months ago. Sure, he couldn't recreate their DNA, but they didn't need the ability to reproduce, he just wanted to eat them. So, he grabbed a stone, roughly the size of an apple and reassembled it, the makeup of an apple in mind, the nutrition, the texture, the flavour. It was done in an instant, a perfect apple in his hand. He bit into it and it tasted just as it should, juicy and delicious.

"It works! I wonder whether I can make meat too…" he took another rock and imagined a cooked piece of meat on a bone and in an instant it was there, "well, at least I won't starve any time soon"

Exploring the island, he found that it was a small island with a forest in the middle full of plants with few animals. With a single use of overhaul, he created a small cabin near the centre of the island.

"First thing I need to do is get stronger. I might have overhaul but that won't help against someone who can kill me in one hit"

He took a tree and shaped it into work out equipment, dumbbells, body weights and so on. At first he overestimated how strong he was. He couldn't lift the dumbbells he created but after a few adjustments, he began training. He built up muscle faster than he had imagined. Apparently, he had the one piece physique. After a year of conditioning his body, he could be considered superhuman. Nowhere near the true beasts of the new world but strong enough that he was confident to be able to survive the east blue. So, one day, he gathered lumber from the forest and used overhaul to create a ship for himself. His goal? Foosha village. He had paid the seagulls delivering the mail with pieces of gold and knew it was 1521, just a few months before Luffy set off to his adventure. Sue him if it was unoriginal but he wanted to be a strawhat. Creating his own crew came to mind whilst he trained but he dismissed that thought. Luffy's adventures were something he wanted to be a part of since he first discovered one piece over five years before his death. The goofy captain just won over his heart. He couldn't imagine a better crew to be a part of!

With his goal in mind, he set sail- only to realize that he had no idea where Foosha Village was or where he was… this might be a bit more troublesome than he imagined…
