Chapter 1 - Introduction

"I am sorry too... that I could not protect you."

These were my last words. Perhaps others would see them as noble and self-sacrificing, but to me, they were just the admission of a coward.

That I wasn't strong enough.

I wasn't strong enough to defeat the evil in the world, and I wasn't strong enough to protect anybody I loved.

Muzan Kibutsuji still lived, even after I smashed his grotesque head into tiny pieces.

All my effort... was in vain.

My techniques were dismantled before my eyes, the raw power behind them providing nothing worthwhile in the fight.

My muscles, bursting with inhuman strength, were torn apart nonetheless by Muzan's demonic tentacles.

All of this came back to one thing.

Strength.

If I had been stronger, if I had been greater, if I could have swung my flail even the tiniest bit faster, would I have saved them?

Maybe not.

But I have to try.

I had pushed the limits of the human body, I had taken power to a whole different meaning!

My strikes shattered steel, my fist crushed rocks into powder, and my flail and axe moved faster than the eye could see!

But I was still stopped by a limit.

The human body could only do so much. In the end, the strongest demon would triumph over the strongest human.

It was only natural.

But the Buddha could help me.

Closing my unseeing eyes, I pray my most fervent prayer yet.

"Almighty Buddha, I ask that you grant me your kindness yet again." My eyes begin to glow with unforgiving light, shining so brightly my eyelids cannot contain them.

"Revive me with no limits so that I can bring Justice to the world!"
