Chapter 22 - 22

Looking at the clean bowls and plates in front of her, Xyliana felt an unexpected sense of comfort. "This is the first time someone has been so willing to eat the food I made, but I never had many chances to cook before..." Xyliana muttered quietly. Her voice was soft, but the person in front heard it.

His tea-colored eyes flashed with a smile, and the corners of his lips lifted slightly, showing a very good mood. The man finished clearing the table and was about to stand up. "Hey, what are you doing?" Xyliana quickly asked when she saw his movement.

His beautiful peach blossom eyes blinked, confusion flickering in his tea-colored gaze, and he pointed toward the kitchen. Xyliana grabbed the bowls and chopsticks from his hands. "You're going to wash the dishes?

Give them to me. You can't do any work until your legs are healed." Her round eyes widened slightly as she looked at him. "Just stay put. You don't know how hard it was to save you.

And your legs—I worked really hard on them! So until they're fully healed, you must listen to me!" Xyliana pretended to be angry as she spoke, her lively eyes shifting. A sly smile appeared, making her look playful and cute.

Hearing Xyliana's words, warmth rose in his clear tea-colored eyes. His pretty peach blossom eyes curved slightly, and warmth showed in the corners of his eyes and brows, a lingering gentle smile. His tea-colored eyes looked straight at her and nodded strongly, showing a bit of silliness.

Xyliana felt a little awkward under his gaze, quickly lowered her eyes, turned, and hurried toward the kitchen. "This person's eyes are really something..." Xyliana muttered. She glanced back quietly and saw the little beggar standing there, staring blankly at her.

When he noticed her looking, his smile grew wider, the curve at the corner of his mouth larger. The breeze passed, scattering bright red flowers everywhere. The gentle wind lifted his soft long hair, standing tall in the yard.

His ordinary clothes made him look like a celestial being. Sunlight filtered through dense leaves, scattering light and shadows, branches swayed. He stood quietly under the tree, watching her.

He truly looked like a stunning immortal. "This person really has a face blessed by the heavens..." Then Xyliana turned and walked into the kitchen.

After some time, the sun slowly set. The two sat in the yard handling the medicinal herbs Xyliana had just gathered today. The man's hands moved skillfully, as if he had done this many times before.

"Do you recognize these herbs?" Xyliana asked quietly, surprised. He nodded. "That's great. You can help me handle these herbs from now on!

When your legs get better, I'll take you to Qingcheng Mountain to gather herbs. There are many herbs on the mountain that I don't know. Do you recognize all of them?"

Xyliana looked at him with expectation, her big eyes sparkling, looking playful and cute. He nodded again. From now on? He seemed to think of something, and warmth appeared between his delicate brows.

Seeing this, Xyliana became even happier. Handling the herbs alone had been exhausting... Now that this little mute was healed, he could finally help.

While thinking about this, she suddenly remembered the man's name. After thinking carefully many times in her heart, she spoke cautiously: "Then how should I call you from now on... I can't keep calling you little beggar like before...

Sorry... when I saved you, you really looked like a little beggar, and I didn't know your name... So I had to call you that..." Xyliana's face showed a bit of embarrassment.

He smiled faintly, the corner of his mouth lifted. He bent down to pick up a small stick and wrote on the ground...

Looking at the scribbled characters on the ground, Xyliana felt a little awkward... "Um... actually, I don't know many characters yet, so..."

Her big eyes spun around, a hint of embarrassment showing, and her face flushed slightly.

The man's hand paused. As if something had come to mind, a gentle smile rose in his amber-colored eyes. He stretched out his slender fingers, pointed at the writing on the ground, then pointed at Xyliana.

His expression was calm and warm. Seeing his gesture, Xyliana asked, "You mean... you want me to give you a name?" She asked cautiously, her eyes suddenly widening.

The man gave a small nod and smiled at her. This made Xyliana a little troubled. She had never done something like naming someone before.

Then, an idea seemed to come to her. Xyliana smiled and said, "Then I'll give you a name for now. Once your voice gets better, you can tell me your real name, how about that?"

The man smiled and nodded, his eyes soft and gentle as he looked at her. Her large eyes turned as she racked her brain, thinking hard. "Giving someone a name really is difficult..." Xyliana muttered while pacing around.

Her brows furrowed, clearly troubled. Suddenly, a light appeared in her beautiful eyes. She turned to the man in front of her and laughed.

"I found you by the reed marsh by the river. A river can also be called a chuan. Chuan stretches ten thousand miles through silent autumn.

The reeds sway gently beneath the old river sky. A traveler returns south once again. The Huai River flows east, carrying a heart across ten thousand miles.

Why not use the two characters Chuan and Huai, what do you think?" The man was stunned for a moment. He lowered his eyes and hid the emotion in them.

Then he smiled gently and nodded, as if no matter what Xyliana said, he would always accept it with kindness. Looking at the gentleness in his eyes, Xyliana turned her gaze slightly, a little shy. "Where I come from, there's a saying.

The simpler the name, the safer the life. I don't think you'll need it for long, so I picked a simple one to protect you a bit, how about it?" Her eyes curved as she smiled, as if the entire sky full of clouds had melted into the clearness of her gaze.

Looking at Xyliana's smiling face, that gentle and warm expression slowly overlapped with a blurry scene in his memory. A voice from long ago still seemed to echo in his ears. As the sun set, a woman laughed and said, "Since I found you by the river, and the river can be called Chuan, your surname will be Chuan.

Chuan stretches ten thousand miles through silent autumn. The reeds sway gently beneath the old river sky. A traveler returns south once again.

The Huai River flows east, carrying a heart across ten thousand miles. Your name will be Huai. So from now on, I'll call you Yavin, alright?"

That scene blended with the present, and for a moment he couldn't tell memory from reality. "Hey, why aren't you saying anything? Do you not like the name?

It is a little plain. Should I try thinking of another one?" Xyliana waved her hand in front of his face as she looked at him standing there in a daze.

Snapping back to the present, he looked into her smiling eyes, so much like those in his memory. The man suddenly nodded seriously, his expression solemn. A touch of warmth rose in his eyes.

Under the sunset, his amber-colored eyes shimmered like flowing water, bright and dazzling like stars. Seeing him so sincere, his charming face carried an unexpectedly cute expression. "Alright, then I'll call you Yavin from now on!"

Under the setting sun, Xyliana reached out her hand, smiling as she said, "Yavin, it's nice to meet you!" The man froze for a second, then slowly reached out his hand.

His long, jade-like fingers under the sunset looked like they had been carved from the finest sculpture. Looking at his silly expression, Xyliana couldn't help but burst into laughter. Under the red glow of the setting sun, in the courtyard, a large strong hand and a delicate little hand were tightly clasped together.

Behind the courtyard. The clear river sparkled under the sun, with gentle waves that reflected the distant Qinghua Mountain, like a fairyland on earth. A breeze passed by, sending ripples across the still surface of the river.

Not far away, the reeds by the shore swayed gently in the wind, dancing with elegance. Chuan stretches ten thousand miles through silent autumn. The reeds sway gently beneath the old river sky.

A traveler returns south once again. The Huai River flows east, carrying a heart across ten thousand miles. May you live free of worries and sorrow, though life rises and falls like drifting clouds.
