Chapter 1 - One Shot: Is This Love?

Sunny heard the melodic ring of the [Silver Bell]. It was a small hut situated in the outskirts of Bastion. The Brilliant Emporium.

He opened the door, and noticed an elegant woman with blonde hair and a blindfold covering her ears.

It was—it was Cassie.

It had been four years since he had last seen her... Every other cohort members made an appearance... But only—only Cassie stayed out.

Our of sight.

She looked different. Ragged—but still beautiful—as if something troubled her.

"Welcome to The Brilliant Emporium!"

Sunny greeted Cassie with a warm smile.

"Happy birthday Sunless!"

W-what?

Did she remember him?

How?

No she couldn't.

He was Fateless.

So how? How did she know?

"Thank you!" Sunny responded with a smile, "But how did you know it was my birthday?"

"I'm a seer." She responded simply, with a plain face.

A lie.

Well, not technically, but she didn't see him in her visions. She couldn't.

No one could know, see, nor remember him.

"I wrote a note to myself... To wish you happy birthday on winter solstice of all days!" She seemed to sense his doubts, probably from seeing him frown, "Now you would think my connections are far and wide... And yet I couldn't see any signs of you. Especially with a name as unique as yours."

Sunny's fingers twitched with longing and sadness.

'So she knew...'

He felt his whole world collapse, he felt betrayed, suddenly he reached for his chest, with his hands... His heart was aching.

"...I have a reason to believe you're the one."

Sunny's eyes twitched with confusion.

What happened?

"So are you?"

"Yes."

Why did he answer with a yes?

"So are you?"

"Yes."

Huh? What happened?

"So are you?"

"Yes."

What? Did she bring up his Fateless attribute?

"So-" Cassie paused this time, before bringing the question up.

What changed?

"That snail like thing... How did it reach here?"

Her beautiful voice replied with confidence, his heart started to race, he could hear his own beats.

What was it?

She was smart, so it made sense she caught on... But it didn't bring any fear.

He knew it already.

So why did his heart race?

A sigh escaped from Cas' lips, as she reached for her blindfold and removed them.

The sight in front of him was a captivating, enchanting, blue eyes.

She looked... Stunning.

"Oh! I should have invited you in..." Sunny was hit with the realisation.

'I'm stupid.'

After brewing some tea for her, and showing Cassie his memories, he looked at her shook face.

There were tears in her eyes... She seemed to remember him and was taking everything in.

Processing it all.

The moonlight found its way through his windows, as if wanting to touch her face.

The wind... It found tiny gaps in the window to brush against her... Her hair blew in a way to was only possible in movies.

"I-I love you... Cassie." His voice shook, tears filled his eyes like a veil covering them, "But you'll never truly know me..."

Those words hit him like a punch in his gut, his flaw was that he couldn't lie... So did it mean he truly loved Cassie?

"I love you too, I-I had a love letter ready but I didn't mention it. I didn't want to—from embarrassment." She wiped her face, before finally giving into the moment...

Cassie leaned towards him, opening her mouth. Her lips... They looked soft and tantalizing...

They kissed, and suddenly a dagger went through his back...

Another man, with black hair, wearing a white shirt entered the room.

His eyes widened with fear... It was Mordret... And Cassie's eyes looked smug, with a smirk on her face.

"Got you... Third divine aspect user."
