Chapter 3 - Disaster.

Hynek wiped his face with his forearm, then slowly got up from his seating position and slowly walked towards the fences where he helped out Agnes just this noon with cows.

These fences were the darkest part, and with his size, he needed the darkest place to hide himself and go as near as possible. He was angry, but there were also some rational thoughts left in him.

Hynek quietly went past the fence by jumping it and followed the guards from the dark fields by crouching down. Two guards were wearing steel helmets and had swords with them. Hynek grabbed his tightly and went as close as possible to hear what they were talking about.

"He killed that young one too early, he didn't even care. I was going to have some fun with her."

"What can we do? The young lord has a thing for older women, he wanted to do something to the Lady of Talmberk as well. Well, we can enjoy the old flesh now as it is"

The two guards were talking and walking towards the only wooden cabin left in the whole village, it was also lit from inside. Hynek, seeing this and hearing them, had an idea what they were talking about. His eyes filled with rage, and he controlled it by gripping his axe more tightly and clenching his teeth.

After the two guards left for the still-standing cabin, which used to be a pantry for Agnes and her family, Hynek slowly stood up. He looked around and saw no one was there, so he wanted to go towards where Agnes lived. Her room had collapsed, he could see it from far away, and it was burning as well, just like everything else. Hynek waited for the guards to enter the pantry, and seeing them casually entering the pantry, he made his move.

He walked towards the room he wanted to see the most, Agnes. His heart was aching badly, and tears were welling up. He bit his arm to control his emotions, as making noise now would mean certain death.

Hynek slowly reached the room without making any noise, then he faced a problem: the door of the room had collapsed, and he was too big to enter through the broken part, so he slowly removed the door, but it could make noise at any time. That's why he was not sure what to do anymore. He was thinking of forcefully opening the door, but at that time loud and horrible noises started coming from the direction where the guards went.

"AH!!"

"AGHHH!! You animals, kill me, don't sully me anymore."

Hynek froze a bit hearing Agnes's mother's painful voice, but gritting his teeth, he opened the door to Agnes's room. He just wanted to make sure she was alright or if she could be saved. The door made a creaking sound, but that was nothing compared to what was happening outside.

Hynek had to enter the room while crouching down, and seeing it was barely visible inside, he sighed because he couldn't light up a torch or anything like that right now.

Hynek slowly walked to the bed. He could see someone was lying there, and he did know who it was, but he wanted to see with his own eyes. He got close while crouching, then saw Agnes. She looked like she was sleeping, but there was a deep scar on her neck. Hynek could not hold his tears anymore and cried silently, he was still remembering how she used to giggle and laugh at him, the sound of that as if is still ringing in his ear's.

"I promise you, I will kill that bastard who has done this to you and make sure he suffers more than you."

Hynek softly said beside Agnes's ear, and then he touched her cheeks only to find them cold. His eyes suddenly looked ruthless, he instantly became a madman. After giving a final glance at Agnes, he left the room.

The horrible sounds were still coming from the pantry. Hynek, this time, was not crying anymore, his eyes were determined. He wanted to kill these two guards, and he didn't know how he should do it.

Hynek gripped his axe tightly and slowly walked towards the pantry. There were sounds of Agnes's mother coming from there and also the panting sound of a guard. He slowly went to the pantry, and as the door was open, he peeked inside. Seeing what was happening inside shocked him a lot, but there was no time for dilly-dally.

He seethed with disgust as he stood behind the guards, their backs turned to him as they faced the opposite side of the room where they had hanged Rozina, mother of Agnes, and were doing things that were terrible to describe even in words.

"I say, we use this smoked bacon, put it inside, and then we can eat it."

Hynek took a deep breath and turned his neck back. He was not even understanding what was happening, but it was terrible and disastrous. He gripped his axe tightly. The two guards stood with their backs to him and were busy with Rozina. Hynek entered the room quietly, he was confident with his strength.

After he entered the room, he felt nervous, but seeing the way Rozina was hanged, he gathered his strength and raised the axe with his trembling hand. His first target was the one who was half naked from the waist down and was attacking Rozina right now.

He took a long step, and when he felt like he was close enough to the guard, he swung hard at the back of the guard with all his might.

Clang

The axe crashed into the guard's back armor. Chainmail created a spark when it came into contact with the axe's metal and buckled hard. The guard instantly cried out in panic, but the axe entered his flesh nonetheless, and blood splattered out of his back, then he dropped forward.

Hynek staggered from the recoil, but he didn't leave the axe and held it tight. Instinctively, as a woodcutter, he has his instinct even though he was not a soldier.

His chest was pounding, and from the axe's blade drops of blood were dripping. Hynek looked at the guard who dropped on the ground, he was motionless.

The second guard whirled around, he pulled out his sword from his waist and grabbed his shield in an instant. He was a battle-hardened soldier and made a decision as soon as he could.

"Boy, you killed my brother. I would like you to try your tricks on me."

A rough voice came from the man, he positioned himself in his battle stance. He was holding a short sword in his right hand and a shield in his left.

Hynek was a little panicky, as he had never killed anyone in his life, his chest was beating fast, and he was not so sure he could beat this soldier. He looked at Rozina, who was tied up, his eyes once again filled with rage and a numbness towards his emotions.

Hynek stood his ground. The second guard, seeing Hynek looking at the women, struck first. He poked his sword and injured Hynek in his thigh in an instant. Hynek took a step back. Hynek, filled with rage, attacked instantly. He brought down the ax with all his might. Seeing the attack, the second guard raised his shield in his defense.

Crack

The sheer impact made a huge sound, the shield shuddered violently, the wood cracked, the metal behind the shield bent, and wood splintered.

The guard's arm trembled, and pain and shock flooded him. He could have never guessed this towering boy had this much strength, otherwise, he would have never attacked him like this head-on. His left arm went numb, and a line of blood seeped through the broken shield and dropped on the ground.

Hynek also felt a strong vibration from the clash, the axe's blade edge chipped, the wooden haft was almost broken, and he was gripping it too tightly, and it was clear that it was not made for battles at all.

The guard was a veteran, and seeing his left arm was useless and Hynek distracted, he attacked again. This time he pierced through Hynek's hand. At the last moment, Hynek dodged, and it only damaged his flesh. The blood was coming out, but Hynek could still feel his hand. If that sword had touched a bone, he would have been done for.

Then Hynek raised his axe once again. The guard tried to move his left hand with the shield, but seeing it was useless, he met the axe with his short sword.

Clang

Crack

The clash once again made sparks, the short sword broke in half, and the axe's blade head went flying as the haft broke.

Hynek didn't waste any time, he ran towards the guard and pierced him with the splintered haft. The only place he found open was the stomach of the guard. The haft went through, and before the guard could make his next move, Hynek grabbed the shield, which was merged with the guard's limp left hand, and threw him upwards.

Hynek's raw strength was so powerful that the guard went flying and clashed with the wooden roof and dropped down on his head.

Hynek, seeing there was no movement, still went ahead and grabbed an empty wine barrel from the pantry and smashed it over and over again with all his strength.

He made sure both guards were meat paste, then he unbuttoned his leather jacket, and after untying Rozina, he wrapped her up with his warm coat, which was a little bloody.
