Another September had come; schools had reopened, new romances had begun, and students were filled with excitement. But no one knew what was truly happening in this school…
September 1, 1999
Shou was walking toward the school.
There was no excitement about starting university — he was chasing mysteries.
The weather was stormy and rainy; people were running everywhere, leaves were flying, and the wind whipped through their hair.
While everyone was rushing inside, Shou stood still in the schoolyard, his eyes fixed on the roof.
He didn't care that he was getting wet or that classes were about to start.
A boy with an umbrella ran past and shouted, "Hey, are you crazy? Get inside!"
Shou replied, "Right, I spaced out. You go, I'll come in a bit," but he remained where he was.
He finally pulled his sharp gaze away from the rooftop and began walking toward the building.
He sat on the steps and simply thought.
Then, because of a lightning strike, a piece of the rooftop broke off and hit Shou on the head — until a girl running toward the school grabbed him and pulled him away.
Thus, the two of them found themselves on the ground.
Shou gave the girl a slight smile.
The girl frowned and said sharply, "Get off me!" — even though she was the one who had pulled him down.
As Shou got up, he said, "You pulled me toward you."
She replied, "If I hadn't, you might've died, idiot," and walked into the school with slow, steady steps.
Shou remained there, still stunned, watching her as she walked away.
