Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Demon Witch Came for Blood

"Bye, Mom!" Finn shouted, running out of the house. He was in a hurry for his friends birthday party.

"Bye...take care of yourself out there, finn!"

Finn's mother—Jezebel muttered,her voice warm.

A few seconds later, the doorbell rang.

She smiled without looking up. "Don't play with me, Finn," She said, as she lay back on the couch watching Tv.

Then, after a moment—ding, dong. The door bell rang again. "Finn, I'm warning you," She said adjusting herself upright. "I'm not in the mood for games."

Suddenly, the lights went out. The entire house covered in darkness.

"Finn, I'm being serious here!" She shouted. "Turn on the lights!"

Nothing happened.

Then her phone buzzed on table beside her. A notification lit up the screen.

[Unknown number: Hello Jezebel]

Her heart raced. Her hand trembled slightly as she picked up the phone.

She knew the message isn't from a mere human.

'who could it be?' She thought.

Before she could think further, the Tv suddenly flickered on by itself. She stood up, heart heavy, scanning the dark corners of the room.

Something didn't feel right.

"Show your face," Jezebel muttered.

No response.

Then, from the shadows, the smell of burned roses hits her.

Her eyes widened.

She knew that scent.

It was her.

It was Seraphine.

"You thought you could run forever, Jezebel?"

Jezebel turned sharply. Her hands sparked red. Her magic stirred awake.

"Show yourself, Seraphine!" She shouted, her voice shakey but fierce.

From the wall, a figure stepped out. Tall. Wearing black garment and silk. Her skin was pale, her violent eyes burned intensely.

Seraphine—the Demon Witch.

"You betrayed the coven," Seraphine said. "You killed your sisters. You don't deserve to walk free."

"I saved myself," Jezebel growled.

" I saved my son also."

Seraphine chukled softly. "You trained under me. You followed me like a shadow. You were mine, Jezebel. Until you turned."

Suddenly, flames burst from Jezebel's hands. With a fierce cry, she threw them at Seraphine.

Seraphine raised up her left hand. The fire froze midair—then reversed, crashing into Jezebel's chest. She slammed against the wall with a thud.

"You forgot," Seraphine said coldly, "I taught you everything you know."'

Jezebel wiped off blood from her lip as she stood up staggering.

"Then you should know, I don't die easy."

She slammed her palm into the ground, summoning a magic seal. A ring of fire erupted beneath Seraphine's feet.

Seraphine barely flinched. "Still using old tricks?"

Seraphine raised both hands– Flames danced along her arms, then exploded downwards.

BOOM!

The house exploded. Jezebel was thrown across the room as flames and smoke swallowed everything.

Jezebel groaned on the ground. Her skin half burnt. Her breathing shallow—but her eyes still held fire.

She rose again, dragging herself forward.

"You never cared about the coven," she spat. "You used us. You used me."

Seraphine stepped forward also, calm as ever. "I gave you power. I gave you purpose."

"And when I wanted to leave?"Jezebel hissed.

"You betrayed me." Seraphine's voice firm. "You killed witches loyal to me. You think that doesn't come with a price?"

She lifted her right hand. Long dark threads of energy lashed out, firing across Jezebel's shoulder. Blood sprayed against the wall.

But Jezebel didn't give up. She created a barrier with her left hand, then used the right to send out a wave of energy that shook the floor beneath Seraphine's feet.

"I didn't kill them because I hated them" Jezebel shouted.

"I killed them because they were going to take my son!"

For the first time, Seraphine paused.

"That half-blood child? You gave your body to a demon—and for what? To raise that thing in a human city?"

"He's more human than you ever were."

Seraphine's face turned disgust. "He's cursed, like you. And when he comes of age, I will end him too."

"No. I don't think so" Jezebel muttered.

She screamed, charging forward with twin blades of fire in both hands. She slashed again and again forcing Seraphine back.

"This will be tougher than I think." Seraphine said as she grip on her silver blade. Ready to attack.

"Of course" Jezebel muttered.

They dashed forward with full speed, their blades clashed, lighting up the room. Magic flared. Walls cracked. A glass photo frame shattered near them.

"You trained me," Jezebel said, eyes was fixed on each other.

"But I've grown stronger than you ever thought."

"And yet….you'll still die here," seraphine whispered as she pushed Jezebel backwards.

They both dashed forward again—this time, with full force. They blades clashed in the middle of the burning room, flames lighting up their faces with each strike.

Magic clashed with magic. And for a brief moment, Jezebel looked like she might win.

But Seraphine was stronger and deadlier.

"Time to put at end to this" the demon witch muttered.

Seraphine raised both hands—and Jezebel froze.

Black chains of shadow burst from Seraphine's palm and wrapped around Jezebel's arms and legs, locking her in place.

"No!" Jezebel cried out, struggling to break free.

Seraphine hands flickering as she chant a quick spell. She summoned an arrow and fired straight at Jezebel chest.

Thud!

Jezebel gasped, falling to her knees.

"You… won't get away with this," she said, her voice shaky and low.

"Oh, but I already have," Seraphine said softly.

Jezebel crawled forward slowly, her blood trailing behind her. She reached out to a half burned photo of her and Finn on the shelf.

"He'll come for you…" she whispered. "He'll end this…"

Seraphine stepped closer, her feet flying a little above the floor. Her sliver sword tightened in her hands.

"That's what I want," she whispered.

"Let him come."

"I will tell your son, you fought a good fight." Seraphine muttered, as she raised her blade.

"This is for my sisters."

And with one strike–

It was over.

Mean while, Finn had no idea what had just happened.

The house was silent.

Floor was covered by blood. Finn's mother body lay cold and still. Her head was gone.

On the wall, seraphine left a dark mark. "X"
