Chapter 1 - Unkown creatures

The plague that occurred in the Middle Ages was said to be the deadliest and most dangerous illness that has ever set foot to earth.

The unknown disease that reeked havoc and killed 75 to 200 million people. The Black Death was so extreme that it's surprising even to scientists who are familiar with the general details.

"The plague is caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, a zoonotic bacteria usually found in small mammals and their fleas. So it was -"

The professor kept on blabbering and talking about the occurrences of the Middle Ages, when the quiet atmosphere was disrupted by a screeching scream of a girl. Her desperate cries were heard, and the whole class turned to look in her direction.

In the wide field where students played their favourite sports while the blazing sun engulfed them, a girl could be seen. Laying on the grass, her body is positioned in the most disturbing way.

Her hands above her head, her knees bent upwards, her head rotated at 360°. The most unbelievable thing a human body could be able to do. Her hair was dishevelled as blood poured out of her mouth.

The rest of the class she was with started an uproar as they tried to run away. The coach was in distress, thoughts swarming through his head. As a teacher, the best thing for him to do now was protect the children. But he couldn't, he was rooted in his place. Like vines were entangled to foot.

The wide-eyed coach wouldn't even blink, but his daze was broken after the girl started to harm the other children.

The class above that we're watching cried in disbelief. What was happening to the girl?! They might be 3 stories high, but that didn't mean they should stay put.

There was something so wrong about the girl. She wasn't playing around, nor was she acting. This terrifying smile she had on her face that reached ear to ear couldn't be the work of a child.

At last the alarm of the school rang at every corner. Warning every single one of them that unknown beings were causing harm to those around them.

The principal then started to speak from the speakers loud enough for everyone to hear him and be prepared for this unknown danger.

"Students and faculty members, strange occurrences has occurred in this vicinity. We request for you all to check everyone you are with to make sure you are not affected by this virus that is making them turn... into strange species. And for your safety pls remain silent and vigilant inside your rooms. Because this strange creature has started to roam around the hallways. There is no way of knowing what could happen to us if we were to get close to it. Pls lock the doors and windows of your class and wait for further updates as we call emergency services."

Those words echoed around the school, and the whole class went still. The teacher himself was frozen. He couldn't believe this was happening.

As everyones thoughts were jumbled in thought, Mellisa walked out of class to the halways and started sprinting towards the exit. The teacher called out for her and told her to come back, but he was too late as she succumbed down the never-ending stairs.

Some of the class then followed suit, and the other students from class were all running down and screaming for their lives. The teachers in charge were all drowning in worry and told them to stop but were all in vain. Because the students who made it bellow came crawling back covered in crimson flood.

They tried seeking help but were dragged back down below, and a loud crunch could be heard echoing across the room. As this unruly beast took a bite out of the children munching on their skin and bones while they desperately called out for help.

Those who stood and watched the gruesome scene that engulfed lost their every reason to think and started to dart towards the opposite direction. They never once stopped and continued to flee finding anything, anywhere just so they could escape this wretched hell!

And once they had finally crossed the other side of the hallway, they all met a miserable end as they too were bitten down like worms in the mighty sea. Helpless and weak when it came to those superior than they were. A prey to the eyes of a predator, that was how they were viewed.

The rest that remained in their class shut their eyes as the blood splattered in the windows and cold tiles. The aching pain and disgust they had to withstand for not being able to do anything, those being swallowed by the fangs of the foul beasts. The unsettling silence and danger that revolved around them was sickening.

The rest were all about to lose hope, but the Class 12 HUMS section Spade shut their doors and windows. They barricaded their doors and made sure to cover the windows with curtains. Tying it with a rope as to not let it lose, afraid to be seen and detected by the beasts that roamed around seeking for bloodshed.

The other remaining students were stunned by this action, but they were not as stupid enough to lose their every sanity, so they followed too. Clossing the windows and doors while warning the rest of the remaining students to remain calm and to shut off their room and stay put inside. Then, they were all left alone in their respective areas.

If they weren't able to see the actions of the class spade 12, they wouldn't be able to think rational enough and might have been left behind stunned. And the possibility of being the next dessert for those brutes.

Meanwhile, in class 12, the HUMS section spade, 8 people remained... The rest must have already left and scurried to the mouth of death.

Their was Antonio, the class president checking the whole room for any more mouse holes that the creatures could get in. He fixed his glasses and tried to lead the rest of them while remaining calm and vigilant.

Then, behind him, looking around the room for any rations was Kyle and Kaycee. They are fraternal twins, and also secretary and treasurer of their class. They had to look for any more food because who knows how long they'll have to stay there, cooped up in a space where there were no source of food or water.

Not from afar was Victor and Mason, victor, the vice president of the class, was helping Mason, top 4 of the class and captain of the basketball team block the entrance with the wide bookshelves behind class. As they sealed tight the room, they finally had a breath of relief.

When the rest finished, their designated tasks huddled together to plan their next tactics. But before that, they reported all the things they had observed. The first to talk was the president.

He adjusted his glasses while he spoke with the rest of his comrades.

"The doors and window are sealed tight with no gaps. Not even a fly could pass through, and the air ventilation is what I worry about. It's small, yet there is a chance it could be ripped open for those creatures to crawl in. Blocking it would not be an option as we have no chance of living because it's the only source of oxygen. And with the rest of the room shut shutting, it would mean intant death."

No one disrupted to panic nor voiced out their opinions. Instead, they continued to report what they were tasked with and the problems that they had determined. Then Kyle and Kaycee started to delineate about their subsistence.

Kyle started off with furrowed brows. From that action alone, it was clear that he was displeased on what they were able to grasp.

"We have 1 gallon and a half of water right now, so it may only last for a day or so if we are able to hold our thirst."

Then Kaycee continued with a bitter sweet smile.

"We were able to find 16 sets of lunch boxes.. they all have rice, meat, and vegetables. But there is a chance they could spoil because of how hot the room is turning into. Their are snacks like bread and biscuits along with sodas and energized drinks that could help rebuild our stamina."

"We have written everything, from the class of food and how long they could last here."

Kyle handed a book to the president containing the current rations they had. It was listed thoroughly about what the products name is and how much they had of it.

The list went on, but the food could not last for more than 5 days. The scorching heat of being on the 3 floor was unbearable. The 4 plugged-in fans could not last for that long. Because there is a chance that electricity could be cut off with those creatures destroying anything that were to go in their way.

Mason then started to tell his side along with Victor.

"The shelves are heavy and sturdy, but who knows what could happen with those brutes' insufferable strength. They might downright chop down the doors with their huge claws and sharp teeth."

Victor sighed and continued while rubbing his teples to soothe his aching head.

"The glass windows are not bulletproof, and they might suddenly break the window and enter without an invitation."

"Like uninvited guests, they could start to gnaw on the food served in a silver platter. And by food, I mean us."

Mason said with a dark expression on his face.

As they continued to discuss their plans, the sobbing sounds of a girl were heard. Elisa, the popular girl of the school, surprisingly survived the incident and now was curled up like a baby in the far corner.

She was panicking as to what to hell was going on?! The rest of the group seemed to be calm, like it was all normal! Fucking hell, she was about to loose all her sanity and this people are just sitting there, talking about god knows what!

She tried to calm her self down as fast as possible. From afar there was a dim light, a notification could be seen in her front screen.

She held it tightly in her hands and proceeded to open it. But before she was able to even draw the pattern on her locksrceen, it was thrown to the ground.

A mans hand slapped her phone away from hers and went flying to the other side. She turned to the direction of the man who tried to slap away their only communication to the outside world only to suck up her words she was about to spit.

Azriel, the guy who started shutting the doors and windows leading them to safety.

All she could see in his calm, composured face was a deep frown and a menacing glare...
