Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 – Interference

Time flies quickly, my daily routine remaining unchanged.

Mirko keeps improving. She's already adapted to my nodachi, and our spars do a decent job of curbing my boredom.

"If only her quirk were stronger…" I muse, a note of disappointment tugging at my voice.

Her limitations are practically screaming at me. Sure, her technique still improves, but at this pace? It's only a matter of time before it stops being fun.

With that sobering thought, I arrive outside U.S.J.

"Figured I'd come early. Having scouted the U.A. premises during my downtime, it wasn't hard to find," I mutter.

But what I see next catches me off guard.

"...The gate's wide open?"

If I were weaker or dumber, I might hesitate. Maybe assume Nezu set up a trap.

But this is U.A. — being disappointed has practically become tradition.

I stroll in casually and ascend the main staircase. From the top, the view is… well, excessive.

"Damn, they really are loaded," I laugh, more out of disbelief than amusement. Simulated disaster zones, each more expensive than the last.

"I think this might be the first time I've had a headache in this world…"

My gaze drifts to the flood zone—and more specifically, the yacht sitting in the middle of it.

"I wonder if it's furnished," I say flatly.

A quick leap lands me on deck. A glance around tells me everything.

"Nope. Of course not. Burn millions on fake volcanoes but can't even spring for a couch."

I sigh, but my disappointment doesn't last. A grin creeps onto my face.

"Good thing I brought my own."

Reaching into the shadow cast by the yacht's cabin, I pull out a sun lounger from my inventory— shadows functioning as storage space. Why shadows? Who knows. But I'm not complaining. It's awesome.

I set the lounger up on a good vantage point overlooking the plaza. With Yukei curled on my chest and shades over my eyes, I lean back, hands behind my head.

"It's nice here... Maybe I should take Mirko to the beach sometime," I mutter.

The moment of peace doesn't last long. I sense incoming presences—students.

And one odd anomaly. A man in the mountain zone, seemingly appearing from thin air.

'That must be the jammer. They brought him in early?'

I sigh. "Haah... This world really loses its charm when you live in it. So many inconsistencies. Missed opportunities. How does Shigaraki fail to kill even one student?"

It's honestly sad.

"Hopefully the next world's better…"

I sense the group entering U.S.J. proper—students, and two teachers. Up top, Thirteen begins her usual speech.

"It's not about the size, it's how you use it—wait… that's not right," I mutter, catching myself mid-meme.

My thoughts are interrupted by the telltale swirl of purple mist.

"Finally. Let's see how strong this Nomu really is."

I start weighing options. Killing it might derail the story… but damn, I really want to.

Three portals swirl open above the flood zone. From them drop the broccoli head, the frog girl, and the walking lawsuit that is Mineta.

"Mineta…" I grimace. "Disgusting guy."

Tsuyu immediately saves him. Midoriya surfaces next, almost gets ambushed, but—of course—gets saved too. Always someone pulling that boy out of the fire.

I lounge lazily as they regroup on the yacht.

"They seriously dropped the frog girl in the flood zone? What a coincidence," I mutter.

The three start planning while I sit just out of view.

And then a fun thought pops into my head.

"I wonder how scared they'd be if they saw me."

Grinning mischievously, I make my lounger sink into it's own shadow as I reappear directly behind Midoriya. Just a flicker of my aura is enough.

They freeze. Tsuyu and Mineta go wide-eyed. Sweat pours down their faces.

"I–Impossible…" Midoriya mutters in his usual shaky voice.

I lean forward, right to his ear.

"Boo."

That does the trick. He panics, bolts forward—

"Too slow." I grab all three and vanish from the yacht in a blur. The villains down below are none the wiser.

I reappear at the edge of the plaza, shallow water lapping at our ankles. The three look ready to fight—or flee.

I point toward the plaza, then crouch low. Reluctantly, they copy me.

Their gazes shift from me to the real problem: their teacher getting obliterated by the Nomu.

"Definitely not for the faint of heart…" I murmur. But they're too focused to hear me.

I rise to my feet. I can already sense Shigaraki's growing irritation. Time to play my part.

I reach into the shadow in front of me and draw my nodachi, still sheathed. That's enough to wake the three up—alert, anxious.

Shigaraki's expression twists into rage. He bursts forward.

'Decay quirk but he's fast compared to the average person of his build. Strange. Still, to me, he moves like a toddler chasing pigeons.'

I wait for the system to chime in.

[Detecting hostile intentions intentionally provoked by the Host. You may defend yourself. However, injury to the attacker is not permitted.]

'Damn… That might ruin my plans for the Nomu. Unless—'

'The Nomu isn't alive. That's gotta count differently.'

Grinning, I meet Shigaraki as he reaches for my face.

I grab his wrist and fling him backward. He lands awkwardly, clearly confused.

"Seems like I can't hurt you," I mutter. "So get out of the way."

"Nomu! Kill that bastard!!" he screams.

And there it is.

The Nomu charges, faster than I expected. My slowed perception doesn't help much as much as with Shigaraki.

'System?'

[Correct Host. You may engage the Nomu.]

Perfect.

I don't wait. Left hand gripping the scabbard, right hand coiled back, I charge in. The Nomu swings a wild punch—no technique, just brute force.

I sidestep and land a brutal haymaker straight to its jaw, launching it across the plaza.

"Haha! It feels good not holding back!"

It charges again, unrelenting. I glance at my sword.

"Would be dumb to put this away now," I chuckle.

I spot Yukei perched on Tsuyu's head. She's avoiding the water. Smart fox.

I turn back, placing my right hand on the hilt.

"Now then... how would you like to die?"

It doesn't answer. Not that it could.

I drop into an Iai stance, crouched low, nodachi poised.

The Nomu barrels toward me. But I don't wait.

In a flash, I vanish and reappear behind it.

Time stands still.

The Nomu freezes. Then its body lurches, splitting clean in half down the middle.

Of course, it doesn't stay dead. The halves twitch, then slowly knit back together.

"All that effort and you still want more?" I sigh.

As it rises, I let the blade fully slide free from its sheath. Both hands now armed, I speak to it one last time.

"If not for your exposed brain, I'd call you brainless."

I swing.

And swing again.

And again.

A blur of motion. The massive blade dances like it weighs nothing. The Nomu can't move, locked in place as red lines carve across its body—fading and reappearing, deeper and faster each time.

Its regeneration strains, then buckles.

Seconds later, it collapses.

Still breathing. But it won't be getting up again.

The battlefield falls into stunned silence.

I turn to Aizawa. He's broken, but still alive. Less mangled than in canon. Only one arm's broken this time.

"I probably interfered a little early," I note aloud.

Aizawa blinks in confusion.

I grab him by the collar and vanish again—making a detour to grab my beloved fox off the frog girl's head—reappearing at the top of the stairs near the other students.

I set him down on his feet. He's on guard, even if he's barely able to stand. I respect that.

I look at the students, all of them wary.

I flash a grin.

"Wild place, huh? Stay safe out here, kids."

And with that, I vanish again—leaving the cleanup to All Might, and a plaza full of very confused students.

'Tough crowd,' I think, smirking to myself.
