Chapter 7 - Dear Eva 6

Dear Eva,

I tried to tell the policemen arresting Stan that I was never kidn@pped. I told them that I went to see Stan on my own, but they wouldn't listen.

They took him away. I was so heartbroken, so furious, close to tears, and really angry.

Now that Stan had finally said yes to me, Kingsley comes up with his own plot.

I grabbed Kingsley by the collar and shouted into his face, "I will lose the last respect I have for you if you don't release him right now!"

At this point, I had no idea what I was doing, and I didn't care about it.

Kingsley tried to calm me down, but I couldn't come to terms with the fact that Stan was suffering because of me—and it's all thanks to a man who thinks I'm his propërty to keep because he has the money.

I'm not after the money; I'm after the genuineness, because when I look at Kingsley, all I see is deceit and lies!

He tried to stop me from shaking him the way I was doing, but I wouldn't let him go until he promised to get Stan out.

Other workers gathered around and were watching us from different strategic places, but I didn't care if I was disgracing both of us.

Kingsley took a deep breath and shouted, "Fine! I will let him go. Just let go of my shirt," he said, and I slowly let go.

"I'm just going to make it clear right now that both of you are going to regret it for backstabbing me like this!" he muttered and walked to his car, asking me to follow him to the station—with all pleasure, I did.

He drove out of the hotel while my heart kept pounding and my fingers kept tapping impatiently on my lap.

"I never knew you could betray me like this, Eva..."

What? It's no longer Dear Eva?

He seemed furious with the hard looks he was giving me, but his tone and words made him sound hurt.

"After everything I have done for you, you choose to cheat on me with a guy I picked from the streets."

"We weren't in a relationship to begin with!" I snapped.

"Really?" He scoffed. "You think so? Everything I did was just in vain, not because we were dating?"

I took a deep breath, realizing he must really be hurt because I didn't clearly set the boundaries at first—maybe because my family wanted him, and maybe because I liked the gifts he gave me.

"I'm sorry, King. It's just that I don't have feelings for you. All this while, I've tried to develop them for you, but it never happened. The closer you get, the more suffocated I become..."

He stepped roughly on the brakes, and the car screeched to a halt in the middle of the road.

"Really, Eva? I suffocate you? I make you uncomfortable so much that you can't bear to even give me a good kiss, even after being in love with you?! You chose to play with my feelings?"

I tried to talk, to tell him it's not the way he thinks, but Kingsley rolled up the glass and stepped on the gas.

He sped down the road like a m@dman.

Even when I screamed, asking him to stop or he'd k1ll us in an @ccident, he refused to stop.

He kept overtaking cars like he had completely gone out of his mind. I cried, I begged him to stop, but no—he didn't stop, not until he arrived at the estate where he lives.

And before I could realize what was happening, he was already dr@gging me out of the car like a thief.

"Where are you taking me, King? This is your house, not a police station!" I tried to remind him and put up a struggle, maybe shout as well, but it was of no use—this place was as quiet as a graveyard. And even if I shouted, no one would leave their comfort zone and come to my rescue.

"This is where you'll be spending the rëst of your life, Eva! In my house, yes! And with me! No one will faind out, and no one will know that I have you. You are maine!"

Instantly, my heart pushed out of my chest in fear of what this cr@zy guy would do to me.

He dr@gged me into his house and shut the door.

To be continued...
