He continued walking when he suddenly spotted a stray cat on the crosswalk and a truck hurtling towards it. The driver, he presumed, simply hadn't noticed it.
But Elad didn't truly care, to be honest. He himself couldn't explain why, but the moment it happened, he instinctively rushed to rescue the stray cat. He scooped the small creature into his arms, shielding it just as the truck collided with his back. He promptly lost consciousness. The last image he registered before departing this world was the cat sorrowfully licking his wounds.
Suddenly, he awoke—if one could even term it waking up. He simply materialized in a pristine white expanse. A peculiar figure stood there, clad entirely in white, with long, flowing hair and resplendent white wings.
"I am Lessly! The mighty angel of the Ryba Council! Now, mortal, you have perished a futile death, so the great Lessly shall bestow upon you a second chance. Fear not, for Lessly is no fool; he will permit you to determine your new destiny! Behold the vast worlds of this multiverse!" *he proclaimed in an odd manner. His voice wasn't heard but profoundly felt; Elad could sense him communicating within his mind without observing any movement of his mouth.*
Elad began to speak,* "Hmm, excuse me? You're asserting that I've died and… hmm, you know, now I'm being isekai'd? Can't I just revert? If it were back when I was sixteen, that would be splendid, but currently, I'm rather content with my life, so…" *he uttered, slightly vexed, a subtle undertone of exasperation in his voice.
Lessly appeared incensed. "What?! You dare! You believe that death is reversible! And you dare to sully the opportunity I have granted you! Such shameful insolence! Now I shall dictate your fate! You will be reborn—no, even better, you will simply materialize as yourself in the world of Pre, hahahahah!" *he cackled maniacally, his voice reverberating within Elad's consciousness.
"You shall rue the day you were less polite to me, foolish child! I will, however, permit you to choose a unique skill for yourself before I consign you to your second demise. Hahahahahah!"
Elad began to perspire, though not that he physically could. "Hmm, why? I was polite, I just, you know, just died… it's rather jarring for some… but alright, I suppose… let me ponder…" Elad stated, seemingly unperturbed, perhaps believing it all to be a dream.
"Okay, I have decided. I desire a growth and adapting skill… one that will grant me a unique passive growth and adaptive ability. As an illustration, let's say I'm in an extremely cold environment like Antarctica… if I remain there long enough, my body will transform and acclimate, and I'll acquire a resistance! And regarding growth, I'll receive passive bonuses to my growth rate. How does that sound?" he declared with excitement, a glimmer of hope in his gaze.
But Lessly was merely even more enraged*. "Hahahhaha, you presume you merit such abilities! You insolent fool! Now I shall simply hurl you into that world! You had your chance!" *Lessly's thunderous voice permeated the void, leaving Elad with a profound sense of foreboding.
