Chapter 4 - Episode 4: The God's Sentence

Episode 4: The God's Sentence

One flame must perish. One bearer must shatter.

The words blazed on the page of Revelation grimoire — not ink, but flame.

The locked room trembled under Kairo's feet. Veilhart Manor's ancient, subterranean archive walls were creaking, living, responding to something more than either of them.

Next to him, Lyra remained unconscious, her body burning with white fire that throbbed in sync with Kairo's own imprinted sigil. Her skin emitted a soft, ethereal glow from beneath the surface, as if something within her — or someone — had been stirred awake.

And from the depths. a voice kept echoing.

Not only in his ears.

In his bones.

"Choose, bearer.

You have delayed judgment across lifetimes.

This time… your sentence is final."

Scene 1: Fire Beneath Stone

Kairo gazed at the Trial text.

[Spark Trial IV: The God's Sentence]

One flame must perish.

One bearer must shatter.

Select: Lyra… or your actual memory.

His wrist sigil divided into two — bifurcating like shattered glass. Each branch pulsed with a separate color.

One burned white.

One burned red.

He could sense what they conveyed.

White path — destroy the connection, allow Lyra to perish, and reclaim his actual memory.

Red path — guard Lyra's flame… but lose something more than remembrance.

"Why are you doing this?" Kairo snarled, holding the grimoire tight. "Why can't I have both?"

The room answered.

"Because gods do not share their prisons."

Scene 2: The Warden Speaks

Abruptly, the flame-shaped runes on the walls exploded, folding inward. The room contorted.

The air heated up. Not in temperature — but in pressure. As if reality itself was folding inward.

Then a figure emerged from the flame cut into the wall.

It didn't have a face.

A black iron mask — broken down the middle.

Its body was bound in dripping chains. And behind it. something loomed. Wrapped in smoke. A throne of charred bones and burning ash.

The figure lifted a hand.

"I am the Warden of Flame.

I guard the gate to the Sealed God.

You, Kairo Veilhart, were tempered in fire and forgetfulness."

"***Your life is not a second chance. It is a test of obedience.***"

"You have to give up one truth to keep one lie."

Kairo took a step back, protecting Lyra.

"She's not a lie."

The glyph above the Warden's head mocked them.

"She's not the girl you remember."

A burning glyph floated above Lyra's chest.

And gradually, it shattered.

***Underneath was not white fire.***

***But gold.*

Scene 3: Lyra's True Identity

Kairo's breath caught. "What… is that?"

"Lyra Morwyn's truth," the Warden replied. "She was not abducted."

"She offered herself."

A memory shifted in Kairo's mind — unwanted, feral, and cutting.

He remembered a girl kneeling at the Spiral Flame's edge, ten years earlier.

"Bind me to him," she had spoken.

"He will come back, and I must recall when he does not."

She was more than his friend.

She had decided to follow him across lifetimes.

She had given up her life… to be his anchor.

But the Hollow Flame had changed her.

She had lost herself along the way.

And now…

The connection was shattering.

Scene 4: The Trial Begins

The Warden retreated.

The room dissolved into ashes.

Kairo was on a different plane — a reflective emptiness.

Lyra stood before him, ember gold, unconscious, on one side.

Across from him stood a replica of himself — older, colder, with the Fourth Spark seared into his chest.

"Choose," said the mirror-Kairo. "Save what's left of her… or reclaim who you were."

Kairo advanced, fists balled.

"No. I choose both."

He launched himself forward.

But the mirror-Kairo halted him with one raised finger.

"Then you must burn."

Final Scene: The Break and the Bond

The sigils along his body blazed.

His own flesh cracked with power.

"To bind her soul," the Warden spoke from afar, "you have to forsake everything else you were."

"Not even memories.

But your name.

Your identity.

Your soul's birth."

Kairo looked at Lyra.

At her golden fire.

And he recalled the laughter. The endless conversations. Her hand tugging his when he was scared of the forest. The vows they took beneath the stars.

And he decided.

"I don't need to remember who I was.".

I need only recall why I chose her.

He laid his hand upon her flame.

The chamber erupted.

White. Gold. Black. Red.

All crashed together.

And when the light went out.

[Kairo Veilhart is no more.]

A boy stood over Lyra's corpse — no name, no sigil.

But a new flame flickered in his heart.

A living anchor. A rebirth.

Lyra's eyes snapped open.

She looked at him.

"Kairo…?"

He grinned.
