Third POV
Mercy stood still, arms crossed, her jaw tight as if holding back the weight of every unsaid word. The tension in the room was electric sharp enough to slice through skin and bone.
She looked as though she was deep in thought , trying to fit in a puzzle piece to get the final answer.
" Here's a thought…..Let me ask you something," she said finally, voice calm but trembling beneath. "If Antonia , if she could frame you for cheating and you nearly lost your life " she turned slowly to Elena, " what could possibly stop her from taking your son now that she knows his alive."
Elena's breath caught in her throat because what mercy was saying was slowly sounding true. The truth of those words settled in the space like dust…soft, slow, suffocating.
